Another cute Little People Big Dreams book! I honestly didn’t know much on Kylie’s story, but of course know her music. It was a great way to do a short story of who she is and how she got to her fame in music.
Kylie was a talented girl from Australia. She inherit singing and dancing from her mother; whi was a former ballet dancer. She also like fashion by sewing with her grandmother. Oneday, her aunt took Kylie to audition for a small role.
Want to know more about this story? Its worth your time to read it. Should read this book. A good one in 2024!
Another addition to the series focused on a more current figure, and it was a success for me. We always enjoy it when these books are set closer to the modern day, as we can compare the timeline to our life and explore how it has directly impacted us, and this book was no different. I'd definitely recommend giving this on e ago if it appeals to you!
This was such a cute way to learn about Kylie minogue’s life with my little. These books are always such a fun quick read and I love collecting them with my little. The illustrations and story was so well done.
Thank you netgalley for the arc.
My daughter & I love reading this series together. We loved the illustrations and the little facts about Kylie.
These books are amazing for kids to remind them to keep chasing their dreams ❤
I knew of Kylie Minogue but I didn't know any details about her life. This was an interesting and short introduction to her, and fans young and old will enjoy it.
A pint-sized picture biography about everybody's favourite pop princess!
When it comes to biographies for EYFS and KS1 children, you can not beat Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and the Little People, BIG DREAMS series.
Adopted 'national treasure', Kylie Minogue (or just Kylie as she is known to her fans) started life as a shy, young girl, singing in her own home and answering the fan mail for her younger sister Danni. An audition for the Hendersons propelled her into the limelight but it was her fictional relationship with Scott Robinson on Australian soap, Neighbours, which captured the hearts of the world. When she launched her singing career, she was an instant hit and we would be lying if we tried to tell you that we didn't make banners and scream with the masses when we were at school ourselves!
The children responded well to the illustrations and as always, the timeline at the end of the book made an ideal framework for further discussion and research of our own.
A pop sensation and a breast cancer campaigner, who used her experience with the deadly disease to raise awareness, she is a superb role model for younger readers looking to take inspiration and take control of their own destinies..
Kylie, as this book highlights, you are a legend and we 'should be so lucky' to read all about your life!
A great addition to any KS1 non-fiction home or school library.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto for sending us this eBook for review consideration. All opinions are our own.
I continue to love this series. I hope that Vegara is allowed to continue to write them. I love that I can learn about new people and their contributions to society. I love the illustrations. I love the research and attention that goes into each book.
Here is another book in the popular series. I love the cover and all of the bright, engaging illustrations in this entry on Kylie Minogue.
What kids will see is that a child who was initially shy can go on to achieve her dreams. For Kylie this had to do with acting, singing and being her own person. Kylie’s adversity, having breast cancer, is also touched on.
This is good addition to the many books that have been published about little people with big dreams.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.
I love this series of books, as do my own children and the children in my class. I feel like this was a special one to read as I’ve been a Kylie fan since my early teens so was fascinated to read this version of her story.
Such an entertaining series and always recommend them.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.
Kylie Minogue by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is a very cute story written about a real person. Written to inform the children about her breast cancer and make them aware that everyone can make a difference.
This is a new book publishing in March 2024, in the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ series. I had read some others in the series previously with my eldest child which were focused on historical characters.
I read this book with both of my children and we enjoyed reading about Kylie. The illustrations were great and complimented the story. There were some parts that I had been unaware of and Kylie’s cancer diagnosis was also included. There were also other aspects of Kylie’s life/career that were not included but I appreciate this will be the case in such a condensed biography. My children and I enjoyed listening to some of Kylie’s songs after reading this book. I think it is interesting that more contemporary figures are also being written about in this series.
I would rate this book 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4 stars).
Thank you to the publisher, Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
My daughter has read many of the books in this series and so was excited to read this one too. She said it was good and she really enjoyed it. She loved the pictures and enjoyed learning more about Kylie. She was really excited to realise that Kylie had been in the TV show that mummy watched and I'm sure it's going to be a book she's going to want to add to her bookshelf.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this.
This was the first book I read in the Little People, Big Dreams series. Minogue's journey is one of perseverance, hard work, but also about fun and joy. There is a lot in her story to look up to. This is amazing if you are a fan of Kylie Minogue and/or have introduced her music to your children. I love being able to put a story behind the music. I would recommend this book for ages 5-8 years old. Warning to parents, it mentions her battle with cancer, so be prepared to talk about a tough topic.
Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books, for this advanced reader's copy.
Delightful romp through Kylie's life! Perfect for little pop star wannabes. I did want to know what happened to Dannii, though!
This book is such a cute look at the stellar career of Kylie Minogue. As a fan, it was great to see such a succinct version of events with such wonderful illustrations. And as far as a children’s book goes, this would be inspiring to young girls worldwide. It’s so much fun, and something parents can read with their kids
I read this with my 7 year old daughter. The story provides a great background into Kylie for youngsters who have heard some of her more recent music but don’t know her history. It includes Kylie’s story with cancer which raised an interesting but important discussion with my daughter about what this was and how it affected people.
The illustrations are great as always in these books and do a great job of pulling readers into the story.
I have a feeling she’ll be asking to listen to Kylie’s music going forward!
I got this on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!
I really love this series, and thought this was a pretty good addition! I think the aspects of Kylie Minogue's life that are included made sense and loved the art style!
I'm a big fan of the 'Little People, BIG DREAMS' series, and over the last few years I have read a lot books from the collection.
This book is another hit!
I love how they are moving into more modern hero's, rather than historic!
In this book, it documents a lot of Kylie Minogue's life, and I like that it doesn't shy away from her breast cancer diagnosis. I have criticised the series in the past for skimming over some of the more 'darker' details from these hero's lives - but this is not the case here.
As usual, the illustrations are light, quirky and colourful.
Another great addition to the series!
My son and I love the Little People, Big Dreams series. This particular book shows how a normal little girl with a dream grew up to be an inspirational superstar! This is a wonderful message for children and Kylie’s story is a shining example of how to pass that message on to the littlest people.
