Growing up, I watched Kylie play Charlene in Neighbours. Her debut album was the first album I ever bought. This Little People, BIG DREAMS book is perfect - I wouldn't change a thing! ;)
As a pop princess, Kylie definitely deserves her very own Little People, Big Dreams book. She is beloved by early ages, having amassed fans from the 1980s into present day via her acting in some popular soap drama, to her acting, charity work and as an icon to the LGBTQIA community. This book is as fun as the pint sized star, full of bright illustrations and accompanied by her biography in short paragraphs. It is perfect for young readers and fans of the series. #kylieminogue #littlepeoplebigdreams #mariaisabelsanchezvegara #netgalley
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.
I love this series of books and think they are great for the younger generation. That being said, they are also great for us who are older, and together we can learn more through the power of reading. Highly recommend for anyone with little ones in their life.
I enjoyed this book very much. I have a hard time getting over the fact that she’s been an artist for 5 decades! I found out a few new things about here too. It’s an easily read book with cute, quirky illustrations.
Beautifully illustrated. The colour pallette felt true to Kylie and her life.
I would have liked a bit more about the breast cancer journey as I think that would have been quite interesting.
Enjoyed this title thank you
I absolutely loved this book about Kylie Minogue's life and how she came to be the popstar we all know and love today. I learned so much about her because of this book!
I am probably not this book's target audience, but it made me smile. A lot.
Obviously, at 32 pages, this is not meant to be a comprehensive summary of Kylie's career… and yet somehow it is! Even her most recent hit, 'Padam Padam' gets a mention at the end! The illustrations are lovely - the wheelchair dancer made me very happy. It's a very inclusive book. Except for LGBTQ+ people.
I knew I was gay – or, as the media phrased it back then, a sick subhuman that the all-loving God hated – when I was eight. Until then, I thought I was [f-bomb redacted] up. There is an actual mention of Kylie being an ally of the LGBTQ+ community at the very end, but a child won't know what that means. The only small rainbow flag in the book is literally hidden behind "Mom & Dad, we love you!" I am not a parent, but if I were, I would have appreciated being able to point at the flag and explain what it means. In a Kylie Minogue book, this particular erasure actually hurts a bit.
I received a free copy of the book from NetGalley. This did not influence my review.
My ratings:
5* = this book changed my life
4* = very good
3* = good
2* = I probably DNFed it, so I don't give 2* ratings
1* = actively hostile towards the reader
I just love how inspirational this star is!
Thank you, Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, for the advance reading copy.
I love how this small book captures the most outstanding moments of the amazing pop star’s journey and her fight with cancer.
I love the minimal art and love how the book tells her story in such minimal yet in a compelling manner.
I’m a fan of the series but this book comes across as lacking compared to others. The text was not nearly as engaging as others I’ve seen.
I do enjoy the bright illustrations.
Having eagerly embraced the latest addition to the beloved Little People, Big Dreams series, I found myself captivated by story of Kylie Minogue. Sanchez Vegara's storytelling shines as she navigates Kylie's journey, skilfully addressing her acting and singing highs and lows as well as her battle with breast cancer – each acting as a beacon of resilience for young readers.
The illustrations sometimes lack immediate recognition, however for younger readers unfamiliar with Minogue this may not be a huge issue. The book beautifully captures Kylie's evolution from a shy girl in Melbourne to a global icon.
The beloved Little People, Big Dreams series will always do well and this is a fun (albeit short) addition to their collection.
The latest in the Little People Big Dreams series sees Kylie Minogue added to the collection.
As usual, the story is brief but informative, perfectly pitched at younger children. The author doesn't shy away from Kylie's breast cancer diagnosis, and indeed puts a positive spin on it by commenting on her inspiration to others.
I felt the illustrations were a bit lacking this time, I didn't immediately recognise Kylie from the images. However, it was a lovely addition to the series, with a perfect amount of information.
I’m a big fan of the Little People Big Dreams biography series for young children. How wonderful to see this title about a female rock star! This book is going to be a big hit with girls who dream of being a popular singer some day.
I love these books, a great insight for the little ones to learn about their heros!.
Who doesn't love a little bit of Kylie fabulous illustrations and easy reading for children.
Now, who doesn't just love this person?
Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is the bestselling author of Little People, BIG DREAMS series, and within this book you discover the life of Kylie Minogue, the Australian princess of pop!
Little Kylie grew up with her parents and her sister, Dannii, in Melbourne, Australia. She loved singing and dancing in her room, but she felt shy in front of other people. Her confidence and courage grew as she watched her sister perform, so she auditioned for a role in a TV show… and she got it!
From there, she moved on to a role in Neighbours and became a star all over the world. Kylie never forgot her childhood love for music, so when the chance came to record her own records, she grabbed it with both hands. Today, she is one of the most-loved artists ever; a chameleon who has dazzled her fans for decades.
This book was sweet but did not grab me or my nephew like the rest of these books which has always been 5 stars. But enjoyable
Big Thank you to Netgalley and Quatro Publishing Group for my ARC.
I adore Kylie Minogue. I know our littles are going to love about Australia’s pop princess. This is a delightful series.
What a lovely book about Kylie. It's entertaining and the illustrations are fabulous!!
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!
I love learning new things about celebrities, especially during their childhood. I never knew she was an actress in a soap opera, but loved her music when I was a teenager!
2 "loving Kylie, meh about the book" stars !!
Thanx to Netgalley, the author and illustrator and Quarto Publishing group.
Gawd I have danced and sang to Kylie for many years. Pop dance diva extraordinaire.
This past year I listened to Padam padam so many times that it almost led to marital breakdown (kidding). I had to have a looksy at this when I saw it on Netgalley.
I believe that this is the third book I have read in this young childrens' series about notable people.
This was really meh in both illustrations and narrative. Like really meh.
Oh well I am going to go do some housework and listen to some Kylie. Padam padam ~

I love the Little People, Big Dreams series. It’s so fun to learn some stuff about celebrities.
The drawings are very age appropriate and quite fun to look at.
They’re only 17 pages long but full of information. In this case it’s all nice and fluffy, maybe because Kylie is not known for her scandals? At least not that I know off. Anyway, I think this series will continue and I will keep reading them 😂 I remember that the Diana one had quite some things that might have arisen questions in young readers, here, I don’t think that’s the case.
