One of my favorite webtoons! I love that it is coming to book format so that I can share it with my patrons. Art is fantastic and so is the story! If you love romance, fantasy, and some drama, definitely pick this series up.
I loved this both as a webtoon and graphic novel format and it's just so cool to be able to read full pages of this story instead of scrolling through my tiny phone screen (granted, I love the webtoon format, but I like my phone a little less...). The art is absolutely stunning and the plot is plotting (lots of eye-candy too, the gay panic is real). If you love epic stories with magic, historical fiction with character driven court intrigue, you're in for a ride!
I love SubZero. Seeing it in graphic novel format is such a wonderful treat! The art is beautiful and it's been amazing to revisit the early stages of the Crimson and Azul Dragons.
That was a bit disappointing. I haven't read the Webtoon and so I don't know how the story develops over the next few chapters, but for somebody who's unfamiliar with the series, this first volume was a major letdown. Nothing stuck out to me, neither the plot (which was very basic) nor the characters. Clove was too naive and too much of a damsel in my opinion. She probably does develop as a character during the rest of the series, but we get little to no evolution in this volume. And keep in mind that it's 300 pages long, which is almost double the length of a manga. Kyro was slightly better written, but we do get more flashbacks for him. It also annoyed me that all the male characters have the same face. And no, changing the hairstyle is not enough to make a character unique. Ultimately, I feel like this volume needed a better edit. So many panels are copy and paste and should have been deleted. I don't know if or how much the panels have been edited since their release on Webtoon, but the print version still needs a polish. I think the series could have also benefitted from a more serious tone. The start is quite goofy and I'm not sure if I like the manga-esque style. That's probably why I just couldn't click with the book. But hey, other people probably really love this comic.
Junepurrr has the most beautiful art. I love this story. Two mortal enemies who come to find they may of misjudged each other. This story has beautiful fleshed out characters, all good, evil? Or misunderstood. I can’t wait to see this beautiful boon in print.
I loved the story, the plot line and the way we see a love develop and how her emotions change and flourish. Kyoro is just so special to me. Yes he’s rough around the edges but you see his character open up and show a variety of different sides to him and how he perceives his duty. I love it
I've been a fan of this story for such a long time, I was so excited to read volume one! Exactly the vibes I remember, beautiful art, beautiful people, interesting story. I cannot wait for Volume 2.
I know this series has been around for a while, but I went in completely blind. I mean a fantasy romance with a heavy political plot with lots of scheming and manipulating sounds like a blast, but you add ancient dragons drama to the mix and you got yourself a truly delicious story. Proper enemies to lovers and arranged marriage tropes for the romance girlies out there wrapped up in the most dreamy artwork. I cannot wait to pick up volume 2!
I want to preface this by saying the artwork for this is simply gorgeous and you can tell a lot of love and effort went into this.
Unfortunately the story itself did not live up to the blurb or the quality of the art. Things were very unexplained and I spent half the book trying to figure out what was even going on- the politics and explanations of the world were very messy and left me confused and ultimately disinterested in the story.
I was excited for the romance but again felt it fell too flat for me. We got very little interaction between the main romantic characters and the times they were together, things ended very abruptly. It made it hard to connect with either of them. I also feel we should not be getting more from the forbidden romance with the guard than the main romance that is the focus of the book!
I did genuinely try to give this a fair shot but by the end, I'm afraid my interest had been lost and this will not be a series I continue.
Thank you to Junepurrr, Oni Press and NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
I'm so positively surprised! I was immediately drawn to the cover. I mean, look at this beauty. The illustrations are magnificent, but so is the story. I'm totally hooked.
Enemies to lovers forced to marry to save their people. What more could you ask for? Attractive characters with personality? Check. Beautiful illustrations? Check. Political issues? Check. Mystery? Check.
I don't really agree with those who say there's not much going on in this first volume. We've already learned quite a bit, a lot of characters have been introduced and the stakes have been set. Admittedly there's not too much action, but I honestly didn't find it lacking.
I can't wait to read the next volume !
A good start to a court intrigue story. At times, the ordering of the panels was a little confusing and I would have to pause to make sure I was reading speech bubbles in the correct order. The story between the main characters was a bit unpredictable and sudden, but I can only hope it expands in further volumes. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the e-ARC!
This was so good! I loved the illustrations and the characters, AND the world building!! DRAGONS!! I will be very excited when the next volume comes out, because I NEED to know what happens next!
This is a great story about two dragons who have been fighting for generations. In order to stop the war the last blue dragon has to marry her enemy in order to save her people because she holds a secret that not even her people know about. The prince she is to marry isn't happy about the arrangement but seems to be slowly following the fierce women but also starts to wonder about her dragon and what is she hiding.
This is a very fun graphic novel that follows a very interesting storyline and really great characters. The development of the characters and the story is really good. It was so good I can't wait until the next volume!
This was so much fun!!! The art style was beautiful, the story had me interested, I’m not the biggest fan of the love triangle but i do love angst sooo….. there’s something brewing I can’t wait to read the next volumes!!
Historical Fantasy with dragons and specially enemies to lovers trope romance 🤌❤️
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT 💓
Right from the starting it's fast paced yet the plotline is described well and in details so the readers can get a glimpse of all the characters and also the background of the plot too. Plus the illustrations are so beautiful ❤️ I am in love with it. I am super excited to read the next part of this series now.
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this one early in exchange for a review!
Well the cover certainly told a different story than the one in the pages. This is probably the most cliche, hackneyed, obnoxiously trope-filled comic I’ve read in a long time. It’s got all the romance mange influences, all the crappy Japanese fantasy tropes, and it’s painful to read. The art is pretty but stiff and not on par with even most manga let alone worth the full color. I can usually look past all of this for the sake of an epic fantasy like story but this was a kind of wake-up call that I’m not getting any younger and some stories are not worth reading, even if they do have dragons.
This one was pretty good. I enjoyed the art style and the use of colours. I was a little confused with the story but overall I did enjoy this one:)
3.5 stars
I absolutely LOVED this book, and need volume two asap! Beautifully illustrated, powerful but also beautiful story, and dynamic characters! Two feuding dragon clans agree to unite in marriage in hopes of finally putting an end to the long standing war. The Princess of the Azure Dragons will marry the Prince of the Red Dragons. Raised as enemies it is no surprise that their first meeting after their arranged engagement doesn’t go well. But over time they have started to find some common ground just as secrets are starting to revealed and people in the red court start conspiring against their union. This story was so captivating and the author left you needing more as the book ends on a true cliffhanger!!
Absolutely love everything about this series. The art is beautiful and I love to see how the relationship between the FMC and MMC develops. I love anything involving dragons, and this checks all the boxes. Definitely recommend!
