Short, sweet and informative introduction to dinosaurs.
The art is childlike, so colourful and engaging and the writing is concise but informative. I think kids will learn a lot from this!
Can't wait to read this again with my nephew

I really enjoyed the illustrations and thought the art style worked perfectly for this book. The bright, vibrant colours made this book very welcoming to read. I liked that the story was told in a very clear and concise and that the text was split up into small, digestible chunks on the page. This book covers a large period of time in a short book which is very impressive and I found it a very interesting read.

Overall I enjoyed this book in particular the bright, colourful illustrations!

This book's format is amazing. It uses the time period and what look like crayon drawings to teach about the ages of the dinosaurs.

I have a current third-grader who would LOVE this book!

There is also a fantastic glossary within this that makes it that much better. I would prefer that those words were bold in the text to help direct kiddos to the glossary.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group- Francis Lincoln Children's Books for the eARC!

This story is incredibly informative and packed with valuable information for young readers.
Given the language and vocabulary, I would recommend this book for children aged 8 and older. I particularly enjoyed the tags at the bottom of the page, which explain the era or event with a timeline. The art style is delightful and resembles what a child might draw, making the book feel more relatable to kids.

To enhance this book, I suggest making the "fun facts" more prominent. For example, on page 15, the fact about the skeleton found in the UK should be highlighted more clearly.

Overall, this is a fantastic read for children aged 7-11 and would serve as an excellent reference for school projects.

Fantastic! As a parent of a dinosaur obsessed kiddo I have read my fair share of dinosaur books (and then some) but this one hits the mark. There’s just the right amount of information for a young brain. It’s not so much that it can overwhelm them. I like that it doesn’t name a million dinosaurs in such a short span, I find that can be overwhelming for kids. The high level overview of this book is just right. I also really loved that it spoke about titanosaurs as their own group and went on to talk about how argentinosaurus is included in the titanosaurs. The illustrations were lovely and really resonated with my kids. Would recommend this any day.

Wait. A. Minute.
THE ART IN THIS BOOK! Omg! It’s so whimsical and so cute, and it is absolutely PERFECT!
It *kind of* slightly resembles what a kid might draw, and it is so well done all while keeping that kind of childish touch to it.
The text also is perfect, also all kids love dinos, right? So, more dinos, please! And this little book is filled with dinos. And, it’s also filled with true dino facts.

The Story of Dinosaurs is a great picture book with information about dinosaurs and the times that they lived. I loved that the book was separated into different time periods to really show the breadth of the dinosaurs (and even a hint at what came first!). The illustrations were fun and bright and did a great job of engaging the reader with their friendly expressions. I definitely think this will be the book that makes some kiddos fall in love with dinos!

Thanks to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing, and Catherine Barr for the chance to read & review!

Thank you to NetGalley for this informational, factual book about the lifespan of dinosaurs from the beginning to the end. This book discusses all the different types of dinosaurs, where they lived, what they ate and who their predators were and how they survived.More suited for the older reader 0plus because of the high level vocabulary.

The Puzzle Piece by Andrea Mendoza (May 13) The most beautiful story in how to help children love themselves and be their most authentic self. I’m excited to read more of her books. Wonderful conversations to follow this with my kids!

Gathered at the Table by Glenn’s Nellist (Sept. 9) Using poems, it explains Jesus last supper and his time at the table. Such a profound, kid appropriate explanation of the communion.

Rosie’s Wild Ride by Paige Murray (Oct 7) Her completion doesn’t go quite as planned, but what if we keep going and ask “What if I can?” as we follow big dreams! I can’t wait to get this for my daughter. Loved the illustrations.

Night Magic by Leigh Ann Henson (Sept 23) This was SUCH a fun book of information. Why does it take so long for the eye to adjust to night? Lots of great information with this book and at a child’s level.

The Mountain and the Goat by Slamk Taghaddas (Sept 23) I loved the concept of teaching resourcefulness in this one. Loved the storyline.

Sea Dog Boats by Astrid Sheckels (Jan 14) To learn all about boats, let the dogs lead the way. All about the ABCs and nautical adventures this is a really cute story!

Twelve Days of Summer by Sherri Meret (July 1) “On the first day of summer…” The animals take you on a summer adventure as you sing along! My kids LOVED this adorable book.

Franklin’s Trees by AJ Skenkman (July 1) A story about young President Franklin. A history major myself, this was a really cute informative book.

Outdoor Skills for Kids by Buck Tilton (June 3) My son thought this book was the bees knees. He learned so much from it and kept talking about “when you approach an animal this is what to do..” He was so excited to share all he learned.

A Very Dinosaur Christmas by Adam Wallace (Sept 2) The giggles with this one! Dinosaurs at Christmas is silly.

Fresh style of illustrations, liked them plenty.
Wonderful information about dinosaurs. The baby dinosaurs look adorable. Plus, the depicted scenes are interesting and unlike what we have seen in other books about dinosaurs.

Pros: I can't wait to share this book with all the dinosaur-loving kids in my life. This book gives tons of information about the history of dinosaurs, so it will be great for kids to read with adults who can help with the big words and ideas. My favorite thing about this book are the illustrations, which are bright and bold.

Cons: I am not sure if the description of this book as being for young children matches with the text of the book. The illustrations are perfect for young children, but there are so many words on these pages.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the opportunity to read this book.

This children's book is both informative and amusing with its illustrations created in a childlike fashion. The rich terminology will help kids enrich their vocabulary on top of learning a lot about the Earth's early times and dinosaurs.
