Rebbeca Thorne has done it again, yet another hit ....the second of her trilogy has you desperate to get her next book

The adventures continue for Reyna and Kianthe....continuing on from where the last book finished, this one takes your on the hunt to reclaim the dragon eggs with piracy and more romance thrown in......

Thrills, action, and love are plentiful in this new novel, definitely worth a ready if you're into cosy fantasy with a big hint of love.....can't wait to read the finale but will be sad to see it end

Thoroughly enjoyed this one! The stakes felt more in this one and I appreciated that, since the first one sets up Reyna's and Kianthe's life.

There is a plot line from the first book that carries over, but it doesn't take away from the new characters introduced (who I loved) and the other plot lines. It was a very cohesively told story. The writing itself, I would say, improved and the pacing was done well.

Introducing new characters in a sequel can be a little risky, but it works well for this story. I wish there were more chapters from both Serina's and Bobbie's perspectives. They were written very well; they felt so real and so relatable! The self-confidence issues hit hard! Also, I love that Bobbie crocheted, that was so cute!

Despite the high stakes, it was still a cosy and very sweet story with a good setup for the third story in this series!

My only nit-pick would be the ending felt a little rushed, but I still really liked the ending, regardless!

A Pirate's Life for Tea is the second book in the Tomes & Tea series. I adore this cozy fantasy series so much. Rebecca Thorne's writing is so much fun to read. The book follows Kianthe and Reyna as they go on an adventure to retrieve stolen dragon eggs and introduces new characters. I love Kianthe and Reyna's relationship dynamic so much. I highly recommend picking up this series if you're looking for the perfect blend of coziness and action. I can't wait to read the next book. Thanks to the Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and honestly review an advanced reader’s copy of this book.

This hit every mark that the first book did for me. Cosy fantasy with real stakes, a diverse and fun cast, this time introducing more lesbians, and the non-binary dreadful pirate that stole the show for me.

If you loved Key and Rain in the first book, they’re just as good in this one. Following on from the main storyline in the first book, we travel along with them to locate the missing Dragon Eggs, with only a handful of side quests on the way there. I liked the way everything wrapped up in the end, and I’m very excited for the third instalment!

Before the first line Rebecca Thorne gives you all you need to know about this book in her dedication “To the people who gave me one-star reviews because the first book “had lesbians” I doubled the lesbians in this one just for you” Thorne doesn’t hold back in A Pirate’s Life For Tea in other regards either. The novel manages to be more adventurous while still retaining a cozy vibe and contains just as many of not more puns too. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

3.5/5 ⭐
Thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for providing eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Plot:
Having shown the glimpse of where the story will go in the epilogue of 1st book, this book starts there giving intro the the new set of characters who play major roles here. The story is still narrated through Kianthe and Reyna's perspectives. The deal with dragons has brought them to Nacean River where they join the hunt of a pirate who's been stealing under the nose of their lord. Their search for dragon eggs and hunt for the pirate both seem to have a common hurdle that together they try to eliminate.
Thoughts:
Definitely better than the first book but cannot be read independently. Even in dangerous circumstances, the writing did not seem to instill the seriousness. New characters were neatly developed expanding the story paving way for future installments. The ending was wrapped neatly with an epilogue revealing the direction of the next book. Overall a good sequel.

This booked picked up more or less where Can't Spell Treason Without Tea ended. I really enjoyed getting to know Serina and Bobbie and watching Kianthe and Reyna interact with them but, I think I would have liked a Serina and Bobbie storyline without Key and Rain there at all times. I love Ponder and Visk and will hear absolutely no griffon slander thank you.
I don't feel this is as good as book 1 but that's just my opinion.

I got a review copy of this book off Netgalley (thank you Pan Macmillan).

I've never read cozy fantasy before, but I'm a big fan of Our Flag Means Death, so when I saw this on Netgalley, I requested it.
There's a lot of fun and excitement and derring do (pirates, naturally). There's also magic and battles and mortal peril ... but it's dealt with lightly. So all the elements of fantasy, but low angst and the overall effect is ... well... cosy.
I really enjoyed the constable who knits for stress relief and the piratical adventures the characters go on. There's also an amazing library and, of course, lots and lots of tea.
This was a fun book. It's made me want to dig out my crochet hooks again.

'A pirate's life for tea' throw us back with Reyna and Kianthe, as they go on their quest to find dragon's stolen eggs. In their adventure, they meet new characters, who take quite an important place in the story : Bobbie and Serina. Other characters also make their space, with or without being there, creating an nice fabric of different personnalities, humour and love.

Bobbie and Serina love story is mainly told from Reyna and Kianthe persepective, a choice I understand but could bother other readers since it means we have less insight on the inner working on the two women. Still, their romance was pretty good, as is the continuing love between Kianthe and Reyna, with their quirks and teasing.

The plot moves quite a lot, and yet isn't a complicated one. The resolution is very easy to guess from the beginning, a part from one thing. It's more of a main plot with added side quest to make sure the initial guess right that a meandering one, where there is a lot of doubts. It didn't bother me, it works with the whole cosy side of the book. The presence of a fair share of actions helps in that regard too. The villain is... well quire villainous, not what I enjoy the most considering the one tone only kind of construction and how easy it was to "defeat" him, but it definitely works for the book !

All in all, a fun book with cosy vibes but stakes and actions, with a nice touch of romance.

Rebecca Thorne is one of my new favourite authors. Both Can't Spell Treason Without Tea and this, it's sequel/companion novel, she writes the biggest warm hug of a book that is just wonderful in every way!
