In an illustrated guide to anything, you can only hope that the art is good. I am happy to report that the art in this is beautiful and perfect for this guide. My partner is more of a bird watcher than I am, but I still loved sitting down and reading this. Each bird had a fun tagline, which was the best part and does help me remember more information. I found the page of facts for each bird to be both helpful in identifying birds you find in the streets and interesting for learning about what makes each bird different.

This is a perfect gift for anyone interested in birds and would make a great coffee table read for guests.

This is a cute book that portays a variety of the most common birds you might come across inside and at the borders of cities across the USA. Each bird has one page with a drawing of it and one page with some desciption of its features, history and where you might see them.

It is a cute book, perfect for those who do love birds and want to know a little bit about a good handfull of birds they might encounter.
Nothing for in depth knowledge or only certain areas of the USA though.

Lovely, whimsical illustrations and lots of bird facts, what a great, informative book. I enjoyed reading about the birds I see on a daily basis and ones that I would love to see.

Absolutely beautiful illustrations and interesting descriptions of North American birds (not as useful for birders outside of America but still stunning to look at!)

Handy checklist and map of areas where you can find birds listed in the book and the tips for how to get started will be helpful for anyone who wants to get into birdwatching and lives in a built-up area.

This was cute. The art and design of the book were nice and appealing to the eye. There are tips for bird watching in cities, along with names, pictures, and a 1 page description of each kind of bird you may see. I do wonder who the audience would be for this book, however. The information about each bird is so brief that I’m not sure many people who are interested in watching and learning about birds would find it useful.

As a lover of birds I had to download this book. Even as an Australian I found the information interesting and useful for some birding adventures. The illustrations in the book are beautiful, featuring birds from North America.
This will be a book I can refer back to and read for enjoyment over and over, it is such an adorable book which perfectly depicts the cheeky nature of birds.

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Becker and Meyer for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Gorgeous little book with beautifully illustrated examples of birds found in North America. I really hope that a UK edition is published very soon!

City Bird is a great introduction to birding in North America! I loved the style of the writing on this one. It was all very fun and each of the birds got beautiful illustrations and just-for-fun nicknames.

My husband and I recently put up a birdfeeder, and this was a very fun way to identify some of our feathered friends. I loved the map in the back that shows you where each of these birds could be found & the section for notetaking.

Thanks to NetGalley, Angela Harrison Vinet, and Quarto Publishing for the chance to read and review!

A delightful introduction to some of the wonderful birds that call our cities home. Written in accessible, plain language, this book is a beautifully inclusive reminder that anyone can be a bird enthusiast and we can appreciate the diversity of nature anywhere, including cities! Featuring beautiful illustrations, a fun and conversational style, and an obvious appreciation for all feathered friends, this is an utterly charming book with an important message at its core.

While I was disappointed not to see Robins or Cobra Chickens (Canada Geese) in this guide, it’s got many North American favourites featured across the beautifully presented pages. My Canadian heart was thrilled to see Mallards, Loons, Sparrows, Woodpeckers, Herons, and so many songbirds included!

I would honestly recommend this to any folks who live in the city and want to connect with the wonderful birds that call urban centres home. It’s easy to get tunnel vision navigating life in the city: this book is a gentle reminder of the benefits of incorporating nature into your day-to-day and just pausing to look up/around! I’d also recommend it to those with an interest in birds who might like to start developing their bird watching and identification skills further.

I’m deeply appreciative of Quarto Publishing Group for making this available on NetGalley.
