The snippet I read was brilliant - weird and mysterious, told through JustEat reviews. However, when I requested this NetGalley did not say it was just a sample so you can imagine my disappointment!!
5 stars for Eliza Clarke though and can’t wait to read this in full.
Eerie, absurd and silly, this sampler was very enticing and am waiting impatiently for the full book.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this sampler.
Eliza Clark does it again!
I absolutely loved this short story. There is a lot to unpack here. It's very creative and manages to be both funny/silly and eerily peppered (pun intended) with an underlying sense of dread. An excellent portrayal of the absurdity of our society and the world we live in (both the physical world and the virtual internet world) Bonus points for the fact that the Instagram account mentioned in the story actually exists! I wish the whole book was on Netgalley and not just a sampler. I can't wait to read the whole book.
*Switches tabs and pre-orders book*
Very excited for the rest of the short stories in this collection. I found the sample story fun in both style and content, genuinely laugh out loud funny. Twisty and full of character!
This was good, i expected more though. Hopefully the rest of the book can live up to the hype. It felt like it was lacking.
Bizarre, witty and utterly strange, this sampler was very enticing and I cannot wait to read the full book.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this sampler.
I'm always hungry for more Eliza Clark, one of the best modern authors with such a unique voice a dark humour that I love. This short story was exactly what I wanted, and I can't wait for the rest of the collection.
When I first requested this book I was unaware it was just a sampler so am certain this part was added to the title later, but that's fine as I enjoyed the few pages of the short story about 'Little Chitaly'.
I've definitely in my time ordered from a few places that this short story could have taken inspiration from!
The apple, the long distance delivery from the Australian in the bikers helmet (even though he arrived in a car) and poor Hannah who just couldn't get enough of those special pizzas had me laughing yet intrigued to read more!
I'll definitely be getting a full copy of this book upon release.
Nah. This is not for me. I know it said sample of the book but come on. 5 pages or so of nothing but reviews from a restaurant. I’m waiting for a punchline.
I didn’t realize this was a sampler only! This story from the collection was kooky and unexpected though and makes me excited for the full release!
Unfortunately didn’t realise it was just sampler, but this only makes me all the more excited to read the full thing!
Eliza Clark is one of my favourite authors so I was so excited to receive this sample. Can’t wait to get my hands on the full version of this intriguing short story collection!
Didn't realise this was a sampler when I requested it (on mobile, so maybe title was cut off or something?)
Enjoyed this short story - very amusing. Really liked the repetition of the character who just keeps coming back. Probably not one that will stay with me through the ages, but very fun. Looking forward to reading the rest of the collection,
So thankful to receive this little sample short story from Eliza Clark's new collection. I love love adore obsess over Boy Parts and Penance so cannot wait until this comes out so I can read the rest.
What a wild little story ? Series of reviews ? Interesting nonetheless. I will be watching for the full release of this book!
After reading this sample, I’m even more excited about the final book! I loved the style this was written in and thought the reviews were funny at times. Can’t wait to read more!
I was first intrigued by the cover, then the name and then the synopsis. I wasn’t expecting a sample of the book but I was pleasantly surprised by the first story “The Shadow Over Little Chitaly” seeming to be about a mysterious takeaway place on justeats that combines Chinese and Italian.
I enjoyed the review style of writing, it flows nicely and is an easy read, some of the reviews had me laughing out loud, especially poor Hannah’s reviews who kept going back!
After reading this first story sample, I’m intrigued to read the rest of the book upon release!
Rating 4/5 stars (will probably change to 5 stars once I’ve read the finished book)
Didn’t realise this was just a sampler…. But enjoyed the part I read! Will definitely be buying the book when it comes out - big fan of Eliza’s writing
It was an intriguing read, even though it was just a sample, but it shows promise. I'm looking forward to reading the full book once it's published.
hadn't realized that I was only getting a sampler when I requested this title 😅. It's just one of the stories from "She's Always Hungry."
However, I enjoyed the story and how strange it was I don't think I've ever read anything quite like it. The story is told through JustEat reviews for a suspicious Chinese-Italian takeaway. I think this format was an amazing choice and it kept me interested as I was reading through each reviewer's experience.
I'm incredibly excited to read the rest of the collection, and November can't come quickly enough!
