The format for this book was really odd. From the description, it seemed like this book would read like a typical nonfiction science book, instead it felt more like a memoir. Something along this format would be much better suited towards an adult audience because it is unlikely to hold a middle grade child's attention. There was certainly some interesting information packed throughout this book and the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous!

Did you know scientists refer to jellyfish as a Medusa? You do now and you would understand why if you read the book!

Although this book is in the Children's Literature category of this blog, and it's advertised as suitable for age 8+ I would be lying if I didn't mention that this is up there with my favourite books I've read this year. I learnt things (so many things), I was hooked, I enjoyed the interactive elements, it made me think, and it touched my emotions also.

Not only are we taught about the life of various sea creatures, insects, and plants, but also humans' impact on the planet, plus some Greek mythology as a bonus!

The tone is friendly and conversational but endlessly informative. Although the topics are at times complex, the reader is never talked down to but instead explained to. Furthermore, this book can age with the reader, there are sections for younger children as well as more detailed elaborations that can be read again on another read-through.

This book takes readers across the globe, under the sea and even into another language - there was a paragraph in German, not sure why, but luckily I knew enough to understand it! Science, illustrations, and puzzles all in one book - yes please!

Overall I know this book will inspire curiosity and hopefully reduce fear and increase understanding of jellyfish and other crazy sea creatures! My personal favourite? (I know you're wondering) Obviously, the Fried Egg Jellyfish!

Absolutely filled to the brim with an array of information, written in an engaging manner for those who love to deep dive (pun intended!) into the life of these amazing creatures.
pdf copy gave a tantilizing glimpse at the stunning artwork from Michèle Ganser, Amazing Octopus was incredible and it would seem this one will be too.

Interesting facts constantly throughout this book but it bounced around like a constant stream of nonsensical thought and I am not sure if reading a digital copy made it harder to follow as the font would grey out and link to other pages and the bouncing around was
Hard to follow. All in all interesting topics
But hard to
Follow

I’m a little confused about the intended audience for this book. It's stated as being for children, but some of it seems quite technical and adult, with some quite dense paragraphs of information and lots of use of Latin names for plants and animals. On the other hand, the tone is also friendly and conversational, and the book contains plenty of activities for children - mazes, puzzles, spaces to draw, and even a page of jokes.

I would have loved this book when I was a kid, although I'm not sure I would have understood it. I would have loved the shorter blocks of facts, and the illustrations, which are just beautiful.

My thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advance review copy.

Stunning black and white artwork, intriguing facts, and games and fun exercises teach middle graders all they'll ever need to know about jellyfish. Adults will love it too.

This book, like the title says, is about jellyfish. I saw that it was marked as middle grade, so I did not think much of it when opening it, but oh was I wrong. This book is stunning. The pictures, the easy to follow way it is written, the information flowing through the pages. I loved it. Perfect read for anybody, really.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I couldn't really tell if this was aimed at adults or children but I found it very engaging and informative

Following from last year’s wonderful Amazing Octopus, Michael Stavaric has come up with another wonderful book- Amazing Jellyfish

The world of cnidarians ( jellyfish family ) is totally fascinating and once again Michael Stavaric has continued using his unique and entertaining writing to educate and entertain us. The joy is in the direct chatty style he uses as though he’s presenting a lesson or talking directly to the reader.
He also weaves in the wider picture of the damage to the environment and the impact of climate change on this curious marine species .

Mixed with facts, quizzes and and the wonderful illustrations of Michèle Ganser, this is a winner.

As an adult reader, I learned so much and for the young naturalist / marine biologist or just lover of the environment this is a wonderful read..be prepared to enter the world of the Medusae

I’m slightly confused as to whom this book is aimed at. The pictures are beautiful and the book is very informative, using adult language style and significant portions of text however then it will have an activity for a 7 year old in there. The black and white imagery is much more suited to an adult and I think the book would do better if it was tailored for the adult market who are interested in the basics of jellyfish rather than aiming it at children.

The first southern Democrat to occupy the White House since the Civil War era brought with him to Washington like-minded men who quickly set to work segregating the federal government. Wilson’s own sympathy for Jim Crow and states’ rights animated his years-long hostility to the Susan B. Anthony Amendment, which promised universal suffrage backed by federal enforcement. Women demonstrating for voting rights found themselves demonized in government propaganda, beaten and starved while illegally imprisoned, and even confined to insane asylums.

Dive beneath the waves and explore the amazing world of the jellyfish with this fact-filled book for middle grade readers who can’t get enough of marine animals!

Filled with fascinating jellyfish facts, activities, and plenty of jokes, this second book in the *Amazing Ocean* series is the perfect follow-up to *Amazing Octopus*.

The second title in the *Amazing Ocean* series is just as mind-blowing, inspiring, and full of irreverent fun as the first. Children will learn about the astonishing variety of species, including some extremely dangerous ones, some types with truly amazing abilities, how scientists have been inspired by these mysterious dwellers of the deep in developing new technology, and much more. Along the way, there is also plenty of opportunity for entertaining and mind-expanding digressions into other topics, including astrophysics, immortality, and ancient mythology. This isn’t just a book to teach children about jellyfish, but one to fill them with wonder and curiosity for the natural world.

All this is stunningly illustrated in black-and-white and sepia original artwork throughout, packed in a textured self-cover hardback with foil areas on the cover. Both text and artwork are highlighted with colored ink to emphasize important elements. Each chapter ends with interactive summaries of the topics addressed, including games and creative exercises, to keep kids engaged and entertained as they learn.

These interactive elements are also available as a printable PDF version for those who prefer to keep their copy pristine.
