Bright Midnights by LS Delorme is a unique blend of young adult fantasy and coming-of-age storytelling, with a protagonist, Amelie, who is grappling with far more than the typical teenage issues. At 17, Amelie is not only dealing with the challenges of high school life but also the mysterious and sometimes dangerous ability that has caused others to be irresistibly drawn to her since she turned 11. This supernatural twist sets the tone for a novel filled with intrigue, romance, and a touch of the otherworldly.

Amelie’s life is shaped by the strange pull she has over people, a phenomenon that has led to tragic consequences in the past. Her escape comes at night when she experiences vivid "dreams" that transport her to different times and places. These dream sequences are among the novel’s most imaginative moments, adding a layer of fantasy that keeps readers intrigued. The introduction of Clovis, a mysterious young man she encounters in these dreams, adds a romantic element that begins to drive much of the plot. Clovis is an enigmatic character, and his connection to Amelie unfolds gradually, keeping readers guessing about the nature of their bond.

The romance between Amelie and Clovis is central to the story, and while their relationship has its swoon-worthy moments, it lacks some of the emotional depth needed to make it truly compelling. Their attraction is strong, but the development of their connection feels rushed at times, making it harder for readers to fully invest in their love story. That said, the mystery surrounding Clovis and how his past intertwines with Amelie’s is enough to maintain interest.

The novel's pacing is somewhat uneven. The early chapters focus heavily on Amelie’s internal struggle with her abilities and her growing connection to Clovis, but the middle section drags slightly as it delves into repetitive scenes of Amelie’s confusion about her powers and the budding romance. However, the tension ramps up in the final act when Amelie’s secrets are revealed to the wrong people, bringing a sense of urgency and danger to the plot. This late-game twist injects much-needed excitement and raises the stakes for Amelie in both her personal life and her mysterious abilities.

One of the novel’s strengths is its exploration of isolation and belonging. Amelie’s supernatural pull on others has made her feel different and alone for much of her life, and her journey is one of self-discovery and learning to navigate both her powers and the real world. Delorme handles these themes with care, creating a protagonist who is relatable in her struggles, even as she grapples with fantastical elements.

However, the world-building in Bright Midnights could have been more fleshed out. Amelie’s powers, while central to the plot, remain somewhat vague, and the rules of her dream flights are never fully explained. More clarity on the origins and limits of her abilities would have added depth to the story, as well as a stronger sense of immersion in the fantasy elements.

Final Thoughts:
Bright Midnights is an intriguing young adult novel that successfully blends fantasy, romance, and self-discovery, though it falls short in certain areas. Amelie’s journey and her romance with Clovis are engaging, but the pacing and world-building could have been more developed to create a stronger impact. While not without its flaws, the book offers an imaginative premise and enough twists to keep readers invested. A solid 3-star read for fans of supernatural YA romance who enjoy stories about finding oneself in a world of mystery and magic.

Bright Midnights by LS Delorme was another beautifully written book from start to finish, with a beautiful book cover that just took my breath away when I received it in the post.

This is the second book in the wonderful Limerent series and I have loved reading these books. Just like the first book. However, this book can be read as a standalone but I do recommend you read the first book as well it will not disappoint! This has been a series that will stay with you and I am so glad I was apart of this tour with the autor.

When most students who start High School find life around them challenging but for Amelie who is just 17 years old has a lot more to contend with than a typical teenagers life.

Her life as shev knows it begins to change but in one of her flights, she meetsmeets Clovis who is alluring and mysterious young man but he is hiding a secret.

I haven’t read the first book, so i was a little confused. Maybe that’s why i did not enjoy this book a lot.

I had to DNF this book. The inclusion of pedophilia wasn't necessary at any point thoughout this book. The book left me feeling unwell because of the inessential amount of random talks about sex and/or pedophilic content. Also a list of potential trigger warnings should be added/known before reading

DNF at 11%

This was not the book for me! I honestly wanted to DNF at 6% as pedophilia was mentioned but decided to give it a chance and continue till 10% to make the decision.

At first, I picked this book because of its synopsis, as it mentions the main character having the ability to travel through dreams.
Then the prologue seemed to be a great start to a book, and it hooked me!

But then! And that's in chapter 2 of the book! It is mentioned that the vice principle, a full-grown man, thinks of the main character, Amelie, a highs school teenager, in a sexual way! And it did not stop there! The title of chapter 4 read: Principles and Pedophiles! And it is also mentioned that one of the female teachers, again, a full-grown woman who teaches high school students, is jealous of the girls in her class and flirts with the boys in her class!

From those 4 chapters alone, I felt so uncomfortable and knew I will not be able to stomach this book!

LS Delorme went all out yet again. Her writing was intriguing, mysterious, and created a world with complex characters and introduces magic in a realistic world. Amelie has gifts unlike any other typical teen which has drastic and horrific consequences. When she meets Clovis she finally starts to realize how to survive in a complicated world.

Thank you for the ARC!

This book follows the story of Amelie Mccornick and her struggles with being different. She has oddly been aware of the energies she puts off. It attracts people to her and not in good ways. Because of that, she has always felt kind of isolated and alone in her world. Her favorite part of her day is actually at night, when she goes to sleep. In her dreams she flies and travels places that feel so much better than the reality she lives in. One night she meets a strange boy and has a strange conversation, that leads to him finding her in her waking world, and her finding him while she sleeps.
The writing in this story was beautiful. I think the author has a way with words and imagery that had me hooked from the beginning. But as the story went on, I found it hard to continue due to the constant sexual language. At first, I thought it was just part of building the characters and the story, there were parts that were unnecessary and overdone, making me feel uncomfortable.
I think everyone should check the trigger warnings on this one, as there are a few that I encountered and had a hard time getting through the book.

Really wasn’t what I was expecting but thank god it wasn’t because I need to see more from Clovis and Amelie and their destiny together

This is one of those books that is best read with a cup of tea on a cold day.
I think the fact that I read the entire thing in one sitting says it all -- I think this might be the first time where love has been portrayed so genuinely. Amelie and Clovis were so beautifully developed as characters, you can tell the author put her whole heart into this. It really shows.
I took one star away because I felt the storyline with the vice principal was unnecessary. Same with Amelie's history. I felt it was too much detail, and for some readers it might be quite disturbing. I agree with other reviewers who mentioned a trigger warning at the start of the book may be beneficial.
In all, though, Clovis and Amelie's storyline was what kept me reading, and I'm glad I did.

I don't rate books one star normally, however after typing this review, I realize why it's one star. This book has a strong start, however after that it's down hill for me. The FMC is confused and doesn't know anything almost the whole book. To me that's not a good main character quailty, since it leaves the reader confused as well. Most of the middle has the same tropes, and it's overdrawn. Ending left me wondering what the point of the story was actually for.

The inclusion of pedophilia wasn't necessary at any point thoughout this book. The book left me feeling icky because of the inessential amout of random talks about sex and/or pedophilic content. Also a list of potential trigger warnings should be added/known before reading.

This was an amazing paranormal romance! In this story we follow Amelie during her high school but of course, with some kinda magical challenges. The book didn’t lost my attention in any moment, the author knew how to build the rhythm of the writing very well, making you read everything in one go. Honestly, I loved and would highly recommend it.

The book begins by exploring the common struggles of high school students but quickly delves into the extraordinary challenges faced by Amelie.

Amelie's unusual ability to be irresistibly drawn to others, often with tragic consequences, instantly captivates the reader. The fantasy element of her escaping into dreams to explore different eras and places is both imaginative and engaging.

When Clovis, a mysterious young man with a secretive past, enters the scene, the plot thickens with a romantic subplot. The allure of uncovering Clovis's history and its connection to Amelie adds layers of intrigue and anticipation.

The tension escalates as Amelie's secrets risk exposure to the wrong people, hinting at significant upheavals. This sense of impending danger keeps readers on edge, eagerly turning pages to see how these revelations will affect the characters and storyline.

What I enjoyed most about this book is its seamless blend of reality and fantasy. The relatable high school setting juxtaposed with Amelie's fantastical dream escapades creates a unique reading experience. The complex characters, especially Amelie and Clovis, are well-developed, making their journey both compelling and emotionally engaging. The narrative's unpredictability kept me hooked, with each chapter revealing new twists and turns.

Overall, this book offers an enthralling combination of mystery, romance, and fantasy. The concept of escaping through dreams and the suspense of hidden secrets add depth and excitement, making it a thoroughly enjoyable read.

This book was just weird, bizarre, and overall pretty unenjoyable. All of the elements in the story felt haphazardly glued together, and, for some reason, disneyworld was a weirdly big part of it. The premise was totally intriguing, but the execution was strange and clunky. Furthermore, the writing was odd and, at times, straight up bad.

Page-turning and really engaging! I loved it however, I feel like the writing could have flowed better and I found some parts confusing and unessential to the plot. Otherwise the characters were brilliant!
