This is a great Italian cookbook for those who want authentic modern Italian cooking. The author is Italian and it is very heavy on the rules. There are beautiful photos of about a third of the recipes. There is no nutritional information and it is very heavy on wheat and animal products, so it will not be a good fit for those with allergies or special dietary needs. The recipes tend to take a bit of time and require authentic ingredients, though they are fairly simple. The recipes are extremely heavy on the carbs, without options for gluten free, paleo, keto, etc eaters. I think traditional Italian food could work well for people with those needs but you have to go farther back and we are definitely in an age of pasta, bread and more pasta and bread these days. It’s a fantastic cookbook if that’s what you want though, and these days most do.

I read a temporary digital loan of this book for review.

As a girl with so much Italian heritage, this cookbook spoke to me. I love Italian food, especially pasta, so I am so excited to try my hand at some new pastas and cook like a real Italian. My husband will be so tired of pasta, but I'll be happy

This wonderful cookbook offers truly authentic Italian restaurant style recipes that can easily be made at home even by a novice cook. I was thrilled to find so many new to me recipes that have now been added to my rotation of meals! I thank Quarto Publishing Group/Rock Point for giving me the opportunity to read and review this cookbook.

Honestly, I thought this book was going to be better photographed. The Italian Family Kitchen though has authentic Italian recipes with easy to advanced recipes but for me, it lacks as a cookbook I would purchase. The subject headers are beautiful and so is the dedication.

But the photos feel like to stock photos and for me that was I'm out. If I could add a suggestion some step-by-step photos would be helpful and an equipment list for each recipe.

I want to thank Net Galley and the publisher Rock Point for the opportunity to read and review The Italian Family Kitchen by Eva Santaguide and Harper Alexander.

I enjoyed this Italian cookbook. The pictures were nice quality and the recipes sounded delicious. Most things sounded reasonably easy to make with accessible ingredients.

I saved these recipes to try:
FRITTELLE DI ZUCCHINE
BUSIATE CON PESTO
ALLA TRAPANESE
PASTA E FAGIOLI
• Calabrian-Style Pasta with Beans
GNOCCHI ALLA SORRENTINA
• Baked Gnocchi, Tomato Sauce & Mozzarella

I got to read an early ebook edition from NetGalley. Thank you!

A great introduction to every mouthwatering dish Italy has to offer! Whether you want to dip your toe into cooking Italian or be an Olympic level chef there is something for absolutely everyone in this book.

Only note, would love to have more vegetarian/vegan mains or even substitute options so I could’ve enjoyed this book even more!

Lovely Italian cookbook that feels very authentic and true to the Italian cooking traditions. Filled to the brim with recipes, some familiar and some more adventurous. The illustrations and photography are truly stunning, showcasing some of the recipes throughout. My only slight criticism is that there isn’t more photography (I tend to pick a recipe based on the photo of results).

This is such a great cookbook! I absolutely love pasta, so seeing so many different recipes just for pasta is incredibly exciting! I enjoy how this book is divided into courses. There are photos to go along with some recipes, but some are just written. The art on the dividers is beautiful!

A lovely authentic South Italian cookbook for the home cook that wants to travel from their kitchen.
The ingredients are simple, the instructions are easy and the ingredients get to shine.
It's very carb heavy, so this isn't for people who want lighter meals, and isn't the cookbook to pick if you're walking into summer, but it is perfect for autumn/winter and the hungry family.
You will find a lot of great from-scratch pasta recipes, and explanations of what is done in Italy so you can really get the authentic tastes.

The level of detail in this cook book is amazing. You really get an insight into the Italian culture and ways of cooking. Fun to experiment with but if you’re looking for something easy to cook I’d go elsewhere.

'The Italian Family Kitchen' is a visually vibrant dive into the culture and decadence of Italian food. It's so evident how much care when into the explanatory sections as well as learning the basics of Italian cooking. While I do wish that there were pictures for every dish, the pictures that are there are mostly divine. The recipes feel elevated yet accessible, which I think is the ideal balance with Italian food.

The Italian Family Kitchen is truly an authentic cookbook filled with delicious Italian recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. After living in Italy, I can guarantee that you would find these dishes not only on the menu at a favorite local restaurant, but also in the home of your Italian friends. Pasta Alla Carbonara is a dish that I make repetitively for my family and would recommend to everyone.

I love how this cookbook not only shares authentic Italian cuisine, but it also captures the culture revolving around food. These recipes are the things that gathers families, it’s a place where stories are shared and it’s a family heirloom. Italian food is simple yet delectable, where you allow the flavor of the ingredients to really shine through in the end result.

Anyone that loves REAL Italian food (not the Americanized version) and enjoys learning about other cultures/cuisines will enjoy this cookbook and use it frequently,

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for providing me with an ARC of this amazing cookbook. It will be one that I recommend to many.

YouTube channel "Pasta Grammar" : who knew that there were 'rules' of pasta? In this excellent cookbook the reader learns of the pattern, rhythm and passion of Italian cuisine firsthand. Embrace it! From creating a menu, stocking a pantry with ingredients to tools and proper usage, this book has all a home chef needs to make a truly Italian meal from start to dessert.

This cookbook is filled with so many yummy and easy to follow recipes. The only downside is that there isn't a photo for every recipe.

This is an authentic Italian cookbook, it explains the "whys" of Italian cooking such as what the "Italian" menu items mean, why lard is used in making bread and why you use authentic Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino cheeses.

You will find suggestions for terra-cotta cookware, pasta machines, amandoline and a vegetable mill to make cooking easier.

You will enjoy learning how to make fresh pasta, tomato sauce and suppli (a fresh rice and cheese stuffed delight, fried to perfection!)

The directions for making bread are detailed and require a lot of folding to make the bread soft and chewy.

The Pasta Alla Puttanesca recipe is easy to follow and is studded with olives, anchovies and mixed fettuccini noodles.

The Almond cookies are very easy to make and the picture looks delicious!

There is something so authentic and wholesome about this cookbook. Nowadays with many influencers and celebrities coming out with a cookbook, it’s hard to find that seems genuine. This one does just that. It feels like you’re reading a family’s recipe book that they’ve passed down for generations. One of my pet peeves is when a recipe will call for a unique ingredient that I know I will probably never use again - I didn’t have that that problem in this book. The recipes felt accessible. Highly recommend the ragu and the saffron risotto. I look forward to trying more especially the fried ones!

I enjoyed this book a lot! The details are great and it’s structured super well. I wish it had a picture for every recipe but it’s fine. For some they have step by step pictures which I think is amazing! The recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients easy to get. It really brings Italy to your home.
