This cookbook is absolutely perfect. The recipes are so easy to replicate. I absolutely hate cooking dinner and trying to figure out meals to cook. These meals were so simple and easy. There are many in the cookbook that I will be remaking in the future!

Special thank you to NetGalley, Bo Corley and Harvard Common Press for an ARC of this incredible recipe book. I love how the author includes some education at the beginning in terms of when to use certain kitchen appliances, cooking with certain oils (depending on heat), etc. The recipes included are mouthwatering and the assortment of cocktail recipes at the end look divine! I would definitely recommend and plan on purchasing this recipe book!

This short cookbook provides quick ways to feed those you love. The easy techniques Corley uses are helpful for those who are novices and seasoned cooks alike. With crowd pleasers such as veggie sandwiches, smoked drumsticks and yummy French toast, there is something for everyone.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Nice, approachable recipes for barbecue style food, including an excellent brisket recipe and a garlic tomato soup that is likely to be popular. Light on the veggies but heavy on the flavor, this cookbook will likely find fans in the dads who want to branch out but are still scared of anything outside their comfort zone demographic. I'm not exactly in that target audience, but I still found one or two nice additions to my recipe box.

Dinner in One Take is an absolute treasure of a cookbook and journal that would be an excellent addition to anyone's kitchen.

Bo Corley has written a book that's not just recipes- it's his own experiences, traditions, and history with food, all written down with care and so much love. The dedication that has been written into this cookbook feels like a generational gift that has found it's way to me. The book is infused with advice from Corley, including tips and suggestions for using certain recipes under certain conditions, such as last minute guests.

The influence that Texas cooking has had on the book is perfect, and I say this as a native Texan. The recipes feel familiar, yet refreshed. The whole concept of this book is big time recipes with a lot of flavor that are quick to make, and Corley has absolutely pulled this off. There are a few recipes where he suggests to take more time, but if time is not available, those steps could absolutely be shortened.

The recipes in Dinner in One Take are very meat heavy- this would not be for someone who is a vegetarian or not a fan of beef. There are a few recipes that are healthier, but they blend in very well with the entire book.

My favorite section was the breakfast for dinner section. The first recipe we made from Dinner in One Take was the French Toast Breakfast Nachos- phenomenal I've never seen anything like it and it was a giant hit at our house.

This would be perfect for anyone who is wanting to elevate their cooking, especially if they are big fans of BBQ and making recipes from the bottom up.

This was an amazing cookbook! I appreciate how the author/chef discussing utensils, pots, pans, etc. to use and even gives recipes for butter, oil, and garlic so so cool! Definitely recipes in here I will check out!!

An overall wonderful beautifully illustrated cookbook. The chef shares with us his journey to getting to this book. The book starts with what he believes should be our kitchen staple items and why they matter. Next up he shares recipes that easy to follow that are delicious and though sophisticated, not too complicated. Elevated versions of many things we know and love. The shallot butter, the seafood grilled cheese, a few of the breakfast for dinner, chicken recipes, the weekend stir fry marinade is amazing and good for more than the stir fry it is listed with and more. Oh and the herb crusted salmon…yum! What I loved was that most were no fuss no muss recipes. I didn’t wind up with a sink filled with pots, pans and plate on top of plate to tend with after a delicious meal. This book is good for all levels of cook.

An interesting cookbook, but I'm not totally on board with these being weeknight recipes. Some of them need special equipment, like a vacuum sealer/sous vide or a smoker. And there are specialty ingredients in here, including Wagyu. The sous vide burgers take 1.5 to 2 hours to cook, which doesn't seem feasible to me for a weeknight family meal.
The photos are great, and the recipes sound delicious.

My husband adored this book, as a fan of the bbq meat he was all over making Dino ribs and smash burgers as well as the quick pickles. I'm definitely a fan of the French toast for lunch section as I could eat breakfast anytime of day. A great bright and bold cook book with delicious looking recipes that create delicious tasting food. We will definitely be adding this book to our cookbook collection

An absolutely delightful recipe book! The photos are not only mouth-watering, but stunning - often to the point where the dishes seem a little intimidating to make. But all of the recipes themselves are wonderfully straightforward and make me feel like I could handle whichever one I picked with little problem (at least as long as I have the necessary ingredients).

Loved how this was organized and that it went over tools and stuff. Excellent pictures. Recipes are easy to follow and there is a wide variety of dishes.

There are some unreal recipes in here that I can't wait to try! The title is a bit misleading I assumed they would be quick and easy recipes but some of them do take a bit of work/ingredients. But it's not a big deal, the layout is great, the pictures are really chill and homey, the whole thing gives a sort of relaxed outdoor barbecue vibe. The recipes sound amazing and are easy to follow and I love the added tips and tricks

The way i interpreted the title “Dinner in one take” seemed to imply to me that these would be quick one pot cooking recipes but it’s a bit misleading as some of these recipes do take a while to prep so not something you can throw together after a long day at work, but the book is interesting if you like smoked & grilled food, it has a little bit of everything from the classic Mac & cheese to a fancy salmon wellington, it also has some cocktail recipe’s. It has been nicely laid out and with good photography. The recipes themselves are in cups etc but should be easily adapted.

I loved the flow and setup of this cookbook. It had lots of great photos and tips as well. As an extra crispy bacon lover, I’ll be trying Bo’s boiled bacon recipe ASAP. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review – pub day is 10/1/24!

The recipes in this cookbook look and sound delicious. The book is presented as easy recipes and the author talks a lot about his weight loss journey and health, but I wouldn’t really categorize either of these as really pertinent for this book. A lot of the recipes require smoking, grilling, marinading, making multiple ingredients, baking, etc. They are very heavy on meat and bread, and there is no nutritional information. There are recipes like an over the top rice crispy treat that bakes frosted rice crispies with the standard butter and sugar and additional chocolate and such all packed into a Bundt pan. Would it be decadent and delicious? Undoubtedly. Quick and healthy? Um…. 🤷

That said, Bo is immensely likable and everything sounds delicious. There are lots of photos and you are sure to cook some great meals with this cookbook.

I read a temporary digital loan of this book for review.

I collect cookbooks and will absolutely be adding this to my personal library! I was not familiar with this chef but really enjoyed reading his story. I thought the recipes were accessible and overall simple, with shorter lists of ingredients than you often see these days. The organization of the cookbook was great and the photos beautiful! I liked the callout boxes, cheat codes, and tips along the way too. It seems like you get a lot more than just recipes here. The author's approach to writing each recipe was different and I felt more like I was reading instructions from a friend on how to cook a dish than a recipe from a book. This book would make a great gift to a cook in your life!
