A quick and fun read, this domestic thriller keeps things spicy with plenty of twists. While it’s engaging overall, there are moments where the pacing slows down a bit. Still, the unexpected twists make it a solid choice for anyone looking for a thrilling story.

Quick paced domestic thriller. A cheating husband, missing person, is there more to it? There are a few twists throughout the book that keep you wanting to read more. It gets you from the very start.

A Little Getaway by Bonnie Traymore is a fast-paced domestic thriller packed with suspense and unexpected twists. When Morgan and Kyle Murphy’s marriage starts to feel strained, Kyle plans a romantic weekend getaway to rekindle their spark. But what should have been a fresh start turns into a nightmare—Morgan is attacked, and Kyle vanishes without a trace.

Traymore masterfully builds tension, keeping you hooked as Morgan unravels the shocking truth behind her husband’s disappearance. The pacing is tight, the suspense is gripping, and while the "spicy" elements are minimal, the mystery more than makes up for it. If you love domestic thrillers with jaw-dropping twists, this one is worth the read!

This book was an easy-to-read thriller that kept my interest throughout, although I felt like it was slow at times. It was hard for me to connect with the female main character because it felt like she was all over the place. The ending came and went so fast, I almost felt like it was too rushed. Overall, a good read, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone who can scent out the ending from a mile away.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eCopy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This story starts with Kyle's disappearance during their weekend away, so the tension is immediately palpable. Then you jump into the past and go back a month. Here you can read that Kyle and Morgan's marriage is no longer so good, and Morgan even thinks that Kyle is cheating...

Ultimately you read chapters in the present again and Tara comes across Morgan's path. Tara is a journalist trying to find out what happened to Kyle. And can Morgan herself be trusted?

I thought this story started very well and I was very curious to know what had happened to Kyle. I also thought Morgan was an interesting character, partly because of her past.

You don't really know who to trust and this keeps the story interesting. I did think that the plot would be very different and I don't really know what I think about this yet. Not that it's bad, but I had different expectations.

'A little getaway' was certainly fun to read and I think I will look for more from this author!

✐ᝰ 𝙉𝙀𝙏𝙂𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙀𝙔 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒. Thank you, NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A Little Getaway is a quick, fast-paced read, though it doesn’t quite align with its synopsis. The book focuses on Morgan, whose husband mysteriously disappears, leaving her scrambling to uncover the truth while also dodging suspicion herself. Alongside Morgan’s perspective, we get chapters from Tara, a determined reporter chasing a big scoop.

At under 300 pages, the book is an easy read, but it does require some suspension of disbelief. The plot itself reads more like a basic mystery with a few twists, rather than the high-stakes, suspense-filled ride I was hoping for. As the story progresses, it starts to feel unrealistic and disjointed. Morgan's character is difficult to connect with, mostly because her actions are erratic and not fully justified. We’re given glimpses into her troubled past, but these moments feel underdeveloped and don’t serve to add real depth to her character. On a positive note, Tara’s perspective offers a nice shift in focus in keeping things fast-paced and relatively engaging, especially with the mystery elements. However, her presence isn’t enough to redeem the book as a whole.

Overall, A Little Getaway is a quick read but ultimately lacks the depth and execution needed to make it memorable.

A lot of fun to read with plenty of twists and turns, A Little Getaway is a great way to pass the time and grabs your attention from the word go.

I will definitely look out for more by this author.

A Little Getaway is billed as a "spicy" suspense thriller. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, given that description. Morgan's perfect, "spicy" marriage is beginning to flag and she suspects her husband of cheating. When he plans a weekend away, she decides it's the perfect time to get answers. Too bad she's attacked and Kyle vanishes! Hate it when that happens, LOL. The pacing was a little uneven and dragged at times, but there were more than enough twists and turns to make up for that. This is a fun vacation read.

The storyline kept me interested in this book and overall the writing was good, but I didn't enjoy the book as much I initially thought I would. I didn't warm to the characters (apart from the couple who got married at the end - I thought that they were sweet) and I thought that the main character and her husband over-reacted to the situations they were found themselves in, and the issues seemed to resolve themselves without a major fuss at the end.

A Little Getaway by Bonnie Traymore is a suspenseful mystery that takes a nosedive into marital suspicion, missing husbands, and a good ol’ fashioned game of “whodunit.” Morgan Murphy thinks her life is in shambles when she suspects her husband Kyle is cheating, and her attempts to uncover the truth lead to a whirlwind of twists. From increasing life insurance policies to a sudden weekend getaway that goes terribly wrong, things quickly spiral into chaos.

The premise is intriguing and keeps you guessing, but the pacing occasionally stumbles, especially with some over-the-top moments that feel more melodramatic than suspenseful. While Morgan's determination is admirable, her actions sometimes cross the line from “resourceful” to “why on earth would you do that?” The plot is engaging enough, but it could have benefited from a little more depth.

If you enjoy a quick, suspense-filled read with a few surprising twists, A Little Getaway is worth the trip—but don’t expect to be totally blown away.

This fast-paced thriller is filled with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. It's beautifully written, and I highly recommend it if you enjoy a spicy story combined with an exciting thriller. It's a great read that brings both elements together in one neat package!

This was a fast and easy read, but I felt the story didn’t fully align with the synopsis. The plot follows Morgan as she tries to uncover the truth behind her husband’s disappearance while also dodging suspicions about her involvement. There are also chapters from Tara’s perspective, a reporter chasing a big break. Despite the title and description, the idea of a 'getaway' is barely touched on, and there’s no 'spice' to speak of.

While the book’s brevity makes it a quick read, some parts leaned heavily into the implausible. Morgan’s detective skills were impressive, but her interactions with supposed criminal masterminds and other characters often felt unrealistic. That said, it was still entertaining at times. I particularly enjoyed Tara’s storyline and found the ending satisfying, even if it required a bit of a leap in logic
