Lovely book that everyone should read. The cover pulls you in immediately. I had heard about this author from tiktok. So glad to have received an ARC of this.

The first chapter of this book sucked me straight in.
I did not trust any character in this book apart from the journalist Tara. I just didn't know who to believe. Everyone just seemed dodgy to me.
I enjoyed this book and the ending surprised me and i'm glad it ended the way it did.

I love myself a good thriller and adding some spice, had me intrigued! I really wanted to like this one, but it did fall a bit short for me. I will say the first couple of chapters had me in, but as the story went on, I felt the storyline felt apart and there where too many unrealistic situations that happened.
First, let’s start off with the main character Morgan, as it was a bit hard to find her likeable and relatable. Her actions where all over the place and although there was some background information as to what happened to her growing up, it still never felt genuine. It was really hard to even feel bad for Morgan, as there just wasn’t enough beyond the surface with her character. Although the reporter Tara was a bit more relatable, I felt her love life storyline felt forced and not really necessary for the premise of the book.
I must be honest and say I did struggle to finish this one as it just did not hold my attention at all and I couldn’t resonate with any of the characters. As a true crime fan, there where just too many unbelievable holes in this “crime” story.
Although this is labeled as a “spicy suspense thriller”, I don’t think it should be considered a “suspense thriller” as there was not much of a thriller feel to it and the spice level was minimal at best. I would characterize this more as a mystery than anything else.
Overall, I think the idea and premise of the book was interesting, but the characters and plot fell flat for me.
Many thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. #ALittleGetawayASpicySuspenseThriller #NetGalley

Thank you Bonnie Traymore and NetGalley for an ARC of A Little Getaway. This was my first Traymore book and I was not disappointed! A possible cheating husband who vanishes during a weekend getaway with his wife? I’m in.
I really enjoyed how the book ended. Although I usually like a good plot twist at the end of a thriller, I really admire how the ending of this book really ties the whole story together without leaving you asking unanswered questions. Bonnie did a great job at keeping you on the edge of your seat, wanting to solve the mystery of missing Kyle Murphy. Definitely will be reading more books from her in the future!

I did not get know this book. Nor did I read all of it because I couldn't subject myself to that torture. The premise sounded super interesting but the writing was.... Lancing. Alot.

So many twists that I didn't see coming. Loved this story so much. Five stars across the board. I didn't know what to believe.

Really enjoyed this book. It’s the story of Kyle and Morgan and how their little getaway leads them through love and espionage. It kept me guessing to the end. The characters were well defined and mostly relatable. The pace was fast. I read it in one sitting and recommend this book to everyone.

A Little Getaway by Bonnie Traymore was a 3-star read for me. I did finish it but found it did not hold my attention through the numerous plot twists. Morgan and Kyle’s story was a bit too much and those two as a married couple just gave the “ick” factor. However, I did love the epilogue and will give Bonnie Traymore another try since this was a new author for me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. Publication Date: October 9, 2024

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! This book started off really strong. It was very hard to tell if the main character Morgan could really be trusted and the storyline intrigued me. Unfortunately I thought the later half of the book was super rushed and left me a little confused on what actually occurred. The additional storyline of Tara's love life felt forced and once again rushed. Overall I think the book could've been better if it wasn't so short in length and there was more time to gradually develop the story.

A Little Getaway is a fast-paced, quick read that doesn’t demand much in terms of deep thought. It offers an accessible story that is easy to read and enjoy.
The story follows Morgan as she grapples with the sudden disappearance of her husband. As she embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about his fate, she begins to question the very foundation of their life together. The narrative explores her unraveling perceptions of their marriage and the secrets that surface along the way, creating a sense of intrigue and mystery as she seeks to piece together the truth behind her husband’s disappearance.
I personally struggled to relate to the characters, as their actions often felt unrealistic and disconnected from what I would expect in these situations. This made it challenging for me to fully engage with their stories and motivations.
While this book didn’t resonate with me, I recognize that different readers have varying tastes, and what may not have worked for me might appeal to others looking for a lighter read. I appreciate the effort that went into crafting this story.

Imagine thinking that you have the perfect marriage, only to begin to suspect that your husband is cheating. Before you have an opportunity to confront him or do anything about it he disappears without a trace, and you fear you may be next.
This story was definitely fast paced and full of twists, turns, and secrets. However, I would not label this book as spicy nor a thriller. Mystery? Suspenseful? Yes and yes. But spicy thriller is a stretch. It failed to keep me engaged and wanting to keep reading. I didn't really feel a connection with any of the characters, nor was the ending satisfying to me. It did, however, keep me entertained. For that I'll give this book 3 stars.

Read this in 2 days! Got hooked with the first chapter, the middle had me a little confused though. The ending was great and I loved the relationship the main character built with a reporter!

This was a quick book. Fast paced and felt like it started in the middle. For me, it fell flat and didn’t keep my attention. The subplots were thin (an illegal lumber racket and a sexual assault in high school) and I just lost interest halfway through. I wouldn’t recommend. Thanks to NetGalley for the free ARC.

First, I would like to thank Net Galley and BooksGoSocial Publishing for the ARC of this book for my honest review. I hesitated between a 3 and 4 star review, but probably would have gone with a 3.5 star if available. I thought the novel read with a fast pace and kept me interested for the most part. However, I couldn't connect with the Morgan, the main character, mainly because she was so bland in terms of the "thrilling" aspects of the book. I did enjoy how much of a "bad ass" Morgan is in terms of self defense and showing that women do not have to be controlled by men. And considering this was labelled a "spicy suspense thriller", I thought it would be a little more thrilling and exciting. It wasn't until the last couple chapters that the book caught my interest. I loved the epilogue, as it showed the human side of both Tara and Morgan. Thanks again for the ARC. #NetGalley #BooksGoSocial #ALittleGetaway

This is a fast-paced psychological thriller that keeps you on edge from start to finish.
Traymore masterfully builds suspense through sharp, concise prose, and keeps the tension tight with unpredictable twists. I love the atmosphere and pacing, making it an engaging and quick read.
However, sometimes I did think that character development is sacrificed for the momentum of the plot.
Overall, it's a gripping, satisfying thriller.

This is my first novel by this author. I enjoyed it - not sure how I felt about the spicy description though?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A Little Getaway by Bonnie Traymore is a suspenseful mystery thriller packed with manipulations and secrets. I want to shout out to all the thriller readers who hate spice - there is the bare minimum of it so don't be scared!
The book grabbed my interest from the first pages, is fast-paced and there is constantly something happening. So no slow build-ups or backgrounds - it's straight in - BUM!
Easy to remember and follow characters, with constant action, just 2 points of view and mainly one timeline. Just loved it!
Morgan is madly in love with her husband Kyle so when she discovers he intentionally has affairs - she is heartbroken! Morgan was an interesting character and the way she looked at things was so cute! She called her friend Carla!
Carla is Morgan's best (probably only) friend and if Morgan learned something - you do not mess with Carla! Probably this is why Morgan feels she can trust her!
But then Kyle gets kidnapped and Morgan has no clue what the hell is going on!
Tara is passionate about her work, she is an investigative journalist and she will not let any story go cold! But even Tara will get confused by these twisted events!

Morgan Murphy thought she had the perfect marriage—full of passion and romance—until her relationship with her husband Kyle starts to lose its spark. At first, Morgan believes Kyle's distance is due to stress over his development project, but soon, doubts creep in. Is it something more sinister? Could Kyle be cheating on her?
Determined to get to the truth, Morgan enlists the help of her best friend, Carla Flores, to track Kyle’s movements. As the signs begin to point towards infidelity, Morgan becomes convinced that her marriage is in serious trouble. When Kyle increases their life insurance and surprises her with a romantic getaway, Morgan grows even more suspicious and prepares to confront him. But before she can act, she’s attacked, nearly kidnapped, and Kyle disappears without a trace.
Now, Morgan finds herself caught in a web of danger and deception, unsure of who to trust. Could Kyle’s shady business dealings be behind his disappearance? Is the police investigation missing key details? Or did the men she hired to teach him a lesson go too far? With time running out, Morgan must uncover the truth before it’s too late.
Despite the intriguing premise, this book struggled to hold my attention. The story is fast-paced and filled with twists, but the main character, Morgan, is difficult to connect with. Her actions and decisions felt over the top, making it hard to sympathize with her situation. While there is plenty of suspense, Morgan’s personality overshadows the plot, leaving the reader frustrated rather than engaged. Ultimately, it’s a fast read, but not a particularly memorable one.

Okay, let’s get into it. So, Morgan and Kyle Murphy’s marriage is on the rocks—he’s acting shady, and she’s suspicious AF. Is Kyle just busy with his project, or is there something way worse going on? The setup was intense: a wife convinced her hubby is cheating, then suddenly, he vanishes during their "getaway." The suspense is real, and the twists kept me flipping the pages!
I’ll be honest—this thriller definitely had me hooked, but at times, it got a little too wild and far-fetched for my taste, which is why it’s not quite a 5-star for me. The pacing though? Fast and furious. No slow-burn mysteries here! But as much as I enjoyed the chaos, some of the plot points felt a bit over the top. And the spice? Yeah, don’t get your hopes up; it’s more of a sprinkle than anything remotely spicy, lol.
Morgan is a character full of layers and her paranoia is actually relatable. Kyle though? Honestly, the dude’s a bit of a mystery, and I kinda wish we’d gotten more about him before he pulled his disappearing act.
Anyway, if you're into fast-paced thrillers with some wild twists, you should definitely check this one out! 💥

3.5 ⭐️’s
I have not read a thriller in a hot minute and it was good! Definitely a fast, easy read and quickly became a page turner for me.
I was anticipating more of a plot twist at the end and expected a more eerie vibe to it all but I’m honestly not mad. The epilogue was kind of sweet (lol), and it wasn’t the most unrealistic thriller I’ve ever read (super unrealistic is too cheesy for me).
With that being said, the “Spicy Suspense Thriller” marketing is maybe a little exaggerated. They talk about spice, but it doesn’t actually happen in the book, and it gave me just more of a simple mystery vibe, rather than a full on suspenseful thriller. (ya know?)
Regardless, I enjoyed overall and it’s getting me in the mood to read more thriller/mysteries for the season!
