This was a handy cookbook for everyone.
Small changes can really improve your health and this book gave me plenty of ideas of easy to make recipes from breakfast, smoothies, lunch and dinner. I especially liked breakfast meatballs.

This cookbook looks great and provides recipes that I'd actually cook and eat. I love the focus on fiber and protein. There's really solid blood sugar information in addition to the recipes, so the book is valuable on multiple levels.

This is so topical at the moment I just had to read it. It certainly gave useful information regarding blood sugar and the need to control it. It re engaged me with cottage cheese again. However, as a person who likes to cook from scratch I was disappointed that quite a few ingredients were shop bought eg a jar of ready made pesto tastes nothing lke homemade pesto. I guess it is more useful for time poor people

I was particularly interested in this book for the breakfast and smoothie recipes and I have to say that it delivered. I enjoyed the look and feel of this cookbook, and I also appreciated the meal planning section in the back. I look forward to trying several of the aforementioned breakfast and smoothie recipes, perhaps as a winter activity!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Chronic inflammation seems to become more of an issue the older we get and can be helped a lot just by knowing what foods to eat and when. This cookbook is very informative in a way that is easily understandable and offers a good variety of tips and recipes.

I love being able to find healthy recipes to try! A lot of these look so good and easy that I am super excited to try. Breakfast Meatballs is on our list as well as the Sugar Cookie Warm Protein Bowl. We recently tried the Balanced Breakfast Casserole and it was a hit!

The Blood Sugar Balance Cookbook is a game-changer! The recipes are not only delicious but also incredibly easy to follow. Meredith has done an amazing job of making healthy eating accessible and enjoyable. Each dish is designed to keep your blood sugar levels stable, which is fantastic for anyone looking to maintain a balanced diet without sacrificing flavour.

One of my favourite recipes has to be the Protein Cheesecake Parfait. It’s the perfect blend of indulgence and health, and it keeps me full and satisfied. The Pesto Protein Muffins are another hit in my household – they’re great for a quick breakfast or snack.

What I love most about this cookbook is how it demystifies the concept of blood sugar balance. Meredith includes helpful tips and nutritional information for each recipe, so you know exactly what you’re putting into your body. It’s clear that she has a deep understanding of nutrition and a passion for helping others lead healthier lives.

Overall, The Blood Sugar Balance Cookbook is a must-have for anyone looking to improve their diet and overall well-being.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Fair Winds for this ARC.

This cookbook starts with an introduction on blood sugar and how to eat to keep it balanced. This may be informative to some but I just skipped it.

I have diabetes and I expected a lot more. I wanted normal recipes that I can incorporate into my life without too much cooking time or having to buy strange ingredients. Unfortunately, this is not that book.

Recipe ingredients include but are not limited to weird things like carton liquid egg white, unsweetened milk, unflavoured collagen, coconut aminos (no idea) and cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is everywhere. Like the Hairy Bikers include 100ml white wine in every recipe, this lady is obsessed with cottage cheese. I can't stand cottage cheese. If this is supposed to be my blood sugar diet, I don't want to know.

The ingredients are ridiculous, there are too many of them and the cooking instructions are too basic, don't make sense and just presume that you have things like a blender and slow cooker etc.

For example, there is a recipe for egg salad that states there's no carbs in it, then the picture shows the egg salad in bread because no one eats egg salad on its own. This of course changes the entire nutrient info but no mention is made of the extra carbs.

I wish I'd known that this is an American cookbook! Thankfully the measurements have been converted but the "skillet" and the "ground beef" remain, as do the ingredients that you only get in the US. I mean, what is "everything but the bagel seasoning"?

I couldn't believe I was reading statements like "I often buy boiled eggs" - boiling eggs is one of the most basic cooking tasks!

The fact that the author is on Instagram and TikTok explains a lot. However, social media is visual so I don't understand why only about a third of the recipes come with pictures. I was greatly disappointed with that because I prefer to see what a dish looks like before I cook it. As is, none of the recipes tempted me enough, so the search for an uncomplicated blood sugar diet with normal ingredients goes on.

Lovely cookbook. Very cleanly organized and crisp layout with nice color scheme. The recipes are well written and easy to follow. Good inclusion of nutrition facts. The photos are appetizing. It’s great that it includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert -and those smoothies!!!! I love that there is a month meal plan at the end- that’s the best part!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I wish this book had more pictures because the pictures that were there looked DELICIOUS.
Excited to try these. Never used any kind of protein powder before but there’s a first time for everything. The smoothies look delicious and nutritious, and really so does everything else.

Starts with an intro talking about bad diets, blood sugar, and an in depth chapter on why it’s important to keep an eye on hormones like insulin, and ends with meal plan suggestions.

Even as a Type 1 diabetic, which strangely never gets mentioned, This really is not my type of cookbook. Came across very lecturing. Perhaps because in the first few pages she calls out Diabetes without fully explaining or even trying to educate maybe herself or her readers about the different types, I was turned off right away. Not to mention, the recipes look boring, bland, and nothing new or inventive. Would not buy nor recommend.

I was initially very interested in this book because I highly value balance in my meals over restrictive dieting. However, the recipes themselves are very vague in their instructions. The Mug Frittata instructs the reader to oil a mug, then mix the ingredients in a cereal bowl, then bake. Am I supposed to bake it in the cereal bowl? When do I move the ingredients to the mug? Another recipe tells the reader to "cook or steam the broccoli." No time given, no level of doneness given, no instructions on method. Any reader who is not already very comfortable in the kitchen and is seeking more instruction would be lost in this book. All the recipes read like they've been written in Instagram or Tiktok captions rather than in a full-length cookbook, which makes sense, given the author's Instagram background. I cannot recommend this book to anyone but experienced cooks who already know the techniques mentioned but never explained by the author.

I’ve been newly diagnosed with diabetes and I’m always looking for cookbooks that will have recipes that will help me maintain a lower blood sugar, so this piqued my interest. I was also drawn in by the beautiful cover.

This book features 100 recipes. Each recipe has step by step instructions and nothing seemed too difficult. Each recipe has nutritional info so you know exactly what you’re getting.
My biggest complaint is that I’m a visual person and would have preferred more photos. Only about 1/3 of the recipes had pictures.

There were also errors in a handful of the recipes. Hopefully those will be fixed in the final product. For example, many of the recipes said, “store well,” instead of, “stir well.” One recipe started with a mug, said to put aside, and then continued the recipe with a bowl. One of the smoothie recipes said to add nut butter if using full fat cottage cheese, when the others said to remove the nut butter. A bit confusing if it’s not edited.

Overall, it’s a decent cookbook for someone who wants to control their blood sugar, but not cut everything out of their diet. My favorite chapter/section was the power bowls, and I will utilize those the most. I also like that meal plan ideas are provided. It definitely helps stay organized with meal prep.

This book was written by the founder of the Peachy Spoon, a coaching business and recipe blog, so I’m curious about other recipes and will be diving into that soon.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley. I voluntarily read an early copy of this cookbook.

I've been struggling with regulating my blood sugar for years. I was excited to grab this book to see if it could help me out. I found the book to be informative and easy to understand. The recipes are pretty could and will definitely be in rotation for me. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking to make some diet changes and get away from the sugar dragon.

I picked up this book because I wanted to find recipes for higher protein, lower sugar snacks and foods for my family. I'm happy to report that this book is a hit! The layout is easy to use and read, and don't we all love color pictures? Though I don't use it, many readers will appreciate the nutritional information provided for each recipe, as well as some helpful ingredient substitutions. The Flourless Protein Brownies on page 173 were gone in a day at my house so I'd call that a win!

A gorgeous cover and book.

I'm sure this book is helpful to some people, but not for me. I can not eat soy or dairy or a lot of the recipes ingredients. My Crohn's is picky like that.

The recipes sound lovely and I am sure the information will help people.
