This book is my first by this author. It is promoted as a slow burn psychological thriller. I found it a bit challenging to engage with initially, and the plot and character development could have been more robust. Unfortunately, it did not captivate me, making it a rather laborious read.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

"What He Needed to Know" by Rosalind Minett is a gripping psychological drama that delves into the complexities of human relationships and the impact of secrets. The story revolves around a seemingly ordinary family whose lives are disrupted when hidden truths begin to surface.

At the center of the narrative is a mother who is grappling with the emotional fallout of her past choices, particularly as they relate to her son. As the plot unfolds, the reader is drawn into a web of deception, misunderstandings, and the quest for redemption. The mother's struggle to protect her family while confronting her own demons creates a tense atmosphere that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

Minett's writing is both poignant and thought-provoking, exploring themes of love, betrayal, and the lengths to which one will go to shield their loved ones from harm. The characters are well-developed, each with their own motivations and flaws, making their journeys relatable and compelling.

As the story progresses, the revelations challenge the characters' perceptions of themselves and each other, leading to a powerful climax that forces them to confront their realities. "What He Needed to Know" is a captivating exploration of the intricate dance between truth and deception, highlighting the resilience of the human spirit amidst turmoil.

Even though the mystery appealed to me and the writing was decent enough to keep my attention, this book ended up falling flat to me. I didn't find original or free of clichés - which is FINE, as long as I have fun with the reading, real fun. That was not the case here.
I'm sure other readers will have a better time with this book.

This is advertised as a slow burn, which it was, but I felt it was slower than it should've been. Some of the tension and suspense weren't there because of the pace, in my opinion, because the build-up to the ending made the ending seem lackluster.

I loved the premise of this book but it a slower paced read.

Terry sees a man who looks a lot like him and discovers it is his twin.. Then his wife starts acting odd and Terrys life changes.. There are more secrets than answers and with a twist or two the drama of this novel takes a turn.

It is an intriguing read but I found it a little too slow..

This was an interesting read, but I wish it was a bit faster paced! It was a bout a man who discovers he has a twin and then when he tells his wife about it, she starts acting strange and suspicious. The slow burn builds but the ending is not as strong as I was hoping for it to be, it was just okay and felt a bit rushed.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

1⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an advanced copy of What He Needed To Know.

Terry has a very mundane and normal life with a steady job and a wife. Then one day he sees a man that looks just like him. He approaches him and they chat and realize they are identical twins. They were adopted when they were young to different families. He cannot wait to tell his wife but she seems not to care and she starts acting very odd. Terry starts to envy his twins life and he finds out his wife has been keeping secrets of her own from him.

This book was just plain weird. I was not a fan at all. It looks to be the first book in a series and I will not be reading the others.
