Cute and steamy short story. I do wish there would have been more depth of emotion and plot however with it being a short story there wasn’t much room for that.
Short. Spicy. Taboo. Quick.
Colt puts together a beautiful, very adult short story. It's got all the spice, wonder, characters and love. I found myself wanting more and more as I read on, but understood that it was a short story.
Colt gives the characters a spice level that is adult but not over the top. Young lovers exploring their relationship, only they don't have to choose. This thruple moves to NY to be with each other because they are all in, with both the sex and the relationship.
It was a beautiful short story. I will be looking forward to reading more from Ava Colt in the future.
Novella, SMUT > Plot, Friends to Lovers, Kink Exploration
I wish instead of having their conversation of after Anne's breakup in the middle of a present chapter is was written as it's own chapter or like as a prolog.
This was okay. It started off with all the spice and then I just wasn’t looking forward to reading the rest. I wish it didn’t start off with the spice. Yes, I know it’s a short story. But I wish it at least build to the spice a little bit. The story just felt way too rushed. And because of that I didn’t feel a connection with any of the characters. Overall, this would be a quick and easy read if you’re looking at hitting your reading goal for the year.
Two guys & a girl. School abroad. Short yet spicy.
I want to say short & sweet but more like short & spicy story.
If you keep in mind it’s a short story & want a quick read with some spice & a HEA. This book might be a good option.
Wasn’t expecting much for a storyline but for a short book to give a break between reads thats what I got.
This was very good for a novella, lots of spice, very good.
I will check out this author other work in order to do more reviews on Insta and Goodreads for her!
Short, spicy, and sweet! The spicy scenes were spot on, and there was just enough background and story that it wasn't completely smut. A lot of short stories feel incomplete but this one didn't feel that way. If you're looking for some spicy fluff, this is perfect.
Take Two by Ava Colt promises a steamy romance, but unfortunately, it doesn’t quite deliver. One of the biggest issues with the book is its length. The story feels rushed, and as a result, the connection between the three main characters never fully develops. With such a short page count, there’s simply not enough time for readers to become invested in their relationship or to feel any real chemistry between them.
While the book does include some intimate moments, even these scenes feel underwhelming. There’s no emotional depth or buildup, making them feel disconnected from the rest of the plot. Overall, Take Two might appeal to readers looking for something quick and steamy, but those seeking a deeper, more fleshed-out romance will likely be disappointed.
Unfortunately, this book, for me, was a swing and a miss. Personally , I did not connect with the characters nor the storyline. I felt the writing style was confusing and I the syntax at times was off. I felt the plot was rushed and didn’t flow. In this particular work, I found multiple grammatical errors which removes the reader from the world.
Normally, I am a lover of MFM/MMF, however this story just fell short for me. The characters lacked depth, their motivations were weak; if at all present. The “spicy” scenes felt awkward and stunted, the characters not living up to the potential of the things they discussed and wanted for and from each other.
Unfortunately on this occasion, I cannot recommend this book.

Take Two by Ava Colt is a spicy, fast-paced novella that delivers exactly what it promises—steamy MFM romance with just enough plot to keep things moving. Anne, Theo, and Nathaniel take their friendship to a thrilling new level, navigating intimacy and connection with chemistry that practically leaps off the page.
The story balances high heat with emotional depth, showcasing trust and affection between the trio. While it’s light on intricate plot, the short format makes it a perfect palate cleanser or quick escape into a fun, sexy adventure. If you’re looking for a sizzling read, this one won’t disappoint!
Short spicy story of a girl and two guy friends. Overall, it was a good quick read if you’re looking for a spicy book. I believe it could’ve been a smoother story telling in first person pov instead of third person.
I wanted to like this book but struggled to get into it. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters and the spice wasnt hitting.
Three friends, two men one woman, decide to move their relationship forward in a sexual way. Erotic menage romance.
This was a fun book. I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop from friendship to more. I wish the book would have been longer but it is a short story. Enjoyed the light read.
If you want a quick fun read to take your mind off things (!) or during that coffee break, then I read this short story in just over 15 minutes! As the 'Disclaimer' says 'If you're looking for a full-length plot, this is not the book for you'. The book has a very basic plot, that seems to start mid-story line! But who cares because there are lots of other books out there with deeper, meaningful plot and character development to read. This book is about some spice and fun.
Honest review in return for an eARC
This was a super quick and easy read. I did find quite a few spelling errors & funny sounding sentences but ignoring all that it was a fun read!
I wouldn’t waste my time on this one if I could go back tbh! 50 off pages of mediocre spice with no plot. If it’s just shmex on the page… it needs to be a really good shmex I’m sorry to say!
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book!
Ava Colt’s Take Two explores the complex dynamics of a throuple between three college friends who reunite and find themselves navigating both past feelings and new desires. The story centers on the reconnection of three individuals whose bond goes beyond friendship, sparking a journey of self-discovery, trust, and deepening attraction.
I really enjoyed this short story! It’s the perfect, steamy little treat for when you’re looking for a quick, satisfying romance, that is also spice plenty. Colt does a great job capturing the chemistry and tension between the characters, making their connection feel authentic and passionate. Whether you’re a fan of new adult romance or just in need of a fun, light-hearted escape, Take Two is well worth the read.
This short story was just okay. I didn't really connect to any of the characters but it was entertaining so i guess that's all I can ask from a 50 page story.
This story wasn't for me. It read a bit like a highschooler read Fifty Shades and thought "I could write this" and fell short.
