Awesome. Simply awesome.
I was so excited to get the ARC of ‘Tea you at the Altar’ and it did not disappoint. My love for Kianthe and Reyna is just ongoing and I’m even more excited to find out that a fourth might be on the way! Rebecca Thorne has become an autobuy author for me!

The Story Continues!

I was glad to see that Tea You at the Altar followed up on plot lines that were laid out in Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, which is something I missed in A Pirate's Life for Tea.

But yet again, this book doesn't feel like the pinnacle of cosy fantasy for me. The characters are still trying to live an easy life, but by now they have become more than aware that that just isn't happening. They are dealing with big political things (Like who could have guessed that a wedding between two lovers would become so political) that make me hesitant to call it a cosy fantasy, although it's still far removed from a big epic fantasy with loads of tensions and conflict.

Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for giving me access to an e-arc for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This is the 3rd instalment on this series and I adored it.
Loved the dynamic of Kianthe annd Reyna and all their friends.
This is such a low stakes fun series, the corny word play jokes made by Kianthe, and her family always make me laugh.

In this book they are planning their wedding and a coup, so lots of high jinks and the odd plot twist but a fantastic 3rd book in the series and can’t wait for the next instalment.

Thank you NetGalley for the change to read this early in exchange for my honest review.

I love this series so much; I don't want it to end.

Ahh I'm so happy to be back. Being back in this world feels like coming home; it feels like a nice warm cup of tea waiting for me. This is such a lovely and comforting series, one that I know I will return to time and tie again. Like the other two books, Tea You at the Altar is such a sweet, cosy, and charming low stakes fantasy book, one that I will will appeal to everyone. Everything about it is just so cosy: the setting and world; the tea and bookshop; the mythical creatures (LOVE a griffin and baby dragon); the friendships; the hilarious characters; and best of all, the lovely and beautiful relationship between Reyna and Kianthe.

They are one of my favourite fantasy couples; they just get each other and fit together so perfectly. They balance each other out so well, while also play off against each other. *sigh* I just love them so much.

Although this is a cosy and low stakes fantasy book, it was certainly not short of drama and action! I think Rebecca writes action scenes really well, as she is able to balance action with low stakes fantasy. It's enough to get your blood pumping, without losing sight of the cosiness of the book.

One thing I particularly enjoyed in this book, is the reunion of all of the characters from the previous two books. It’s really lovely to have the gang all back together again. I’m also really pleased that although there are now a lot of characters all at once, Reyna and Kianthe are still the main focus. While I loved A Pirate’s Life for Tea, I was really missing Reyna and Kianthe being together; they were apart for a lot of that book. So I really like that together they’re the main focus again. I love them as a couple so, so much.

And that ending!! I cannot WAIT for the next, and sadly, final book in the Tomes & Tea quartet. Such a brilliant cliffhanger! I am also devastated that the series is ending; I have always looked forward to the new book in the series, and it will be so sad when it's all over. I seriously think I will be bereft.

I'm so happy to be back in this world, and can't wait for the next one!

I enjoyed this whole series but felt like Tea You at the Alter somehow didn’t have the same amount of heart as the first two. I’m not really sure why this is, I’m going to mull it over and will edit my feedback if I work out what it was that didn’t quite click the same way. Regardless I had a really good time and will keep telling people about this underrated series!

I've adored the first two books in this series and the third is no different! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this is a 4 book series rather than a trilogy but I'm still sad that the series will be coming to an end!

Kianthe and Reyna are getting marries (spoiler? I feel like the title gives that away) but of course nothing is going to go smoothly. Kianthe's parents are here, Reyna's old boss (and the evil Queen of her home country) is expecting special treatment at this wedding, as well as the baby dragons causing havoc and the pirates coming to town. It's a busy time!

This fantasy series is so cosy whilst also having so much plot progression and character development. The adventures are so much fun whilst also being there to be a backdrop to the emotional development that is handled so well and is so enjoyable to read. These books are just such an enjoyable time and I look forward to reading them each time a new one is published. I'm so excited for book 4!

Loved this one!

I think this is my favourite so far of the Tomes & Tea series. I really enjoyed how this one was a bit quieter, without so many big adventures, and just focused back on Reyna and Kianthe back in Tawney. Of course there’s still conflict…what are they going to do about Tilaine? And so a plan is hatched to dethrone the Queen and replace her with a hidden heir…all at Reyna and Kianthes wedding.

The book was a little slower and I often felt at times they were just talking about the same things over and over before it led up to the big climax, however I wasn’t too bothered. I liked just seeing the characters interact and grow in their relationships.

My favourite part — seeing more of the dragons!

This book ended in a shocker and I am excited to see where it’s going to go and how the story is going to conclude.

Thank you to Pan Macmillan | Tor for this e-arc.

Tea You at the Alter is the third book in the sapphic cozy fantasy Tomes & Tea. Kianthe and Reyna have a lot on their plate—managing the shop, preparing for their wedding a week away, and (last but certainly not least) overthrowing Queen Tilaine. Complicating matters are the pair of baby dragons causing mayhem throughout the town, pesky in-laws-to-be bringing alternate suitors, and a replacement queen who may not exactly want the job. But with their townie friends, ex-coworkers, and some queer pirates, they might just get through week.

This third book is a bit of a return to form after that detour of a second book. The story goes back to Tawney, bringing back the coziness of the small town charm, hearty found family, and slice-of-life domesticity. I enjoyed this way more because of it. While there may be this plot of overthrowing the Queendom, the book is still very much a cozy fantasy so the tension is never allowed to get that high. With where it ends, this could have served as a fitting finale to the series except that it throws an out-of-nowhere occurrence in the epilogue so there’s still one book to go.

There was so much adorable flirting and teasing, especially with my favorite supporting characters Wylan and Feo, and the book introduces new side characters I could root for (the previous book’s Serina and Bobbie just weren’t doing it for me). Kianthe and Reyna continue to be a strong sapphic couple as they take on challenges while rooted in their love for each other.

Tea You at the Altar brings the book back to what made me love the series in the first place.

Do you love a wedding? I absolutely love attending other people’s weddings but, 10 years later I still remember just how much planning and organisation went into my (our) wedding – a lot! Despite that as soon as I heard about Tea You at the Altar, the 3rd book in the Tomes and Tea series, of course I had to grab my invitation and attend !

The Tomes and Tea series (yes, you really do need to read books 1 and 2,) follows the (mis)adventures of the Mage of the Ages Kianthe, and former Queensguard Reyna who following the development of their romance are now in the midst of planning their wedding…if only, it was that simple. Once again Rebecca Thorne has taken us back to Tawney, where we find Kianthe and Reyna in their happy little world of tea, love and books but, of course, nothing ever stays quiet for them!

From the mayhem and chaos of the baby dragons, and I thought puppies were a menace! To organising a wedding, wedding gift secrets, and the small matter of finding a lost heir, and organising a coup…it’s no wonder that Kianthe and Reyna are a little stressed. And I haven’t even mentioned the colour scheme challenges!

I love this series, it’s not spicy, it’s not overly dramatic, it’s just good, cosy, punny, fun, mixed with good old fashioned love, a little adventure and intrigue, and great tea, books and the occasional boardgames. Mix in a truly adorable found family vibe, great friendships, and the cutest baby dragons, and I’m in cosy fantasy heaven. The only complaint I have is that ending – are you trying to give me heart failure? Here I was thinking this was the last book in the series and there’s a 4th! Of course, I absolutely need it now but, re-reading books 1 to 3 will just have to suffice…I’m always here…”if you need me.”

Thank you so much Pan Macmillan for sharing the arc with me in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I love these books and although book 2 is still my favourite this was still a good addition to the series
-my favourite part of this one was the dragon chaos ! I just adore animal side kicks in books and we got a lot more of the griffons and dragons which made me happy
-but what do you mean this ended on a cliff hanger ! I’d still class these as cosy fantasy but this one definitely upped the stakes.
Thanks you bookbreak/pan Mac for this arc.

Tea You At The Altar by Rebecca Thorne Review

With mischievous baby dragons, estranged parents, political intrigue and a whirlwind of wedding planning. The third book in the Tomes & Tea series, follows our fave tea shop owners as they tie the knot, and navigate a plot to overthrow Reyna’s tyrannical former boss, Queen Tilaine. And I must say it’s my favourite instalment soo far!

Firstly, I do have to warn that action-wise this was a little calmer in tone than the swashbuckling events of A Pirate’s Life For Tea. But, the character development, pun heavy humour and general cosiness was unmatched (despite the stakes being soo much higher) — and gave me Legends & Lattes meets The Princess Bride vibes that I absolutely ate up with gusto!

The in depth, character driven focus was once again utterly incredible and I loved getting to delve deeper into the backstories of some of my fave characters. But especially Kianthe, whose estranged parents give us an interesting glimpse into her childhood — and also that marvellously chaotic personality of hers, which we’ve all come to love soo much.

I also enjoyed seeing Reyna in her element, taking charge and charming all the guests and keeping everyone fairly content (Kianthe’s parents and childhood bestie included.)

But, I have to say Ponder (Reyna’s baby griffon) and her humorous rivalry with baby dragons, Gold Coin and Pill Bug, really did a great job at nearly stealing the show. Their antics were the perfect comic relief and, paired with Kianthe’s unbridled enthusiasm for the baby dragons — helped keep the tone fairly light, right up to the wedding itself (and that shocking cliffhanger ending.)

Oh, and did I mention the Dastardly Pirate Dreggs makes a fabulous return too?! Along with a few new (but very pivotal to the plot) faces. Their (Dreggs) adventurous and rather surprising past, had me more invested than any drama filled, reality TV show ever could and I’m honestly still in awe over all the revelations. I won’t go into to details for fear of spoilers, but I will say, I need a spin-off series following all of their antics ASAP.

Overall, another wonderfully cosy and satisfying instalment, that surpassed all my expectations. All I need now is a copy of Alchemy and A Cup of Tea and I’ll be eternally gratified.

Also, a huge thank you to BookBreak UK for the proof and my stop on the socials tour.

Kianthe and Reyna are days away from their wedding day. The whole town is working towards creating the wedding of the century. Now just add a few baby dragons, a coup to overthrow Queen Tilaine, Kianthe's parents and her childhood friend, the dastardly Pirate Dreggs and his crew,... Well, they have made plans, so what could possibly go wrong?

I enjoyed this more than the second book in the series. Maybe because the plot was set in Tawney? Anyway, I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next/last one in the series.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series but this one outshines them both.
I love the characters, the cosiness and the dragons. Ponder makes me smile every time she's mentioned and it's good to see Reyna with her found family.

A secondary title could be a Coup of Tea. A puntastic (thank you Kianthe) story of love, family drama and treason with a heavy dose of tea and cake.

I look forward to reading the next one soon.

I absolutely love the Tomes and Tea series and to be back for Kianthe and Reyna's wedding because oh Gods do our delightful Tea-loving lovers deserve their version of ‘happy ever after’ with their baby dragons and wonderful friends. However, with the arrival of Kianthe's parents, mischievous baby dragons and the Dastardly Pirate Dreggs in attendance? An easy wedding seems unlikely…

The world-building is as always wonderful and immersive for the reader, and from the first page, it's as if we never left. Every character brings something to the story and breathes life into this cosy fantasy. I love the blend of Reyna and Kianthe's adventures along with the relative normality of their day-to-day lives running their Tea shop and spending time with friends. It feels as though you could curl up with one of the many books in their tea shop and gossip away for hours with everyone as dragons fly above us protecting their human Mamas.

Tea You at the Altar isn't just a story of a wedding but a new beginning for all and I just loved how Rebecca built up the tension and uncertainty of what will occur because alongside all the planning and meeting the parents? There's a Queen to topple off the throne.

Everything is going against them it seems and yet, their love remains so strong which is always so beautiful to see. I think it's just how the author writes though, that makes this fantasy feel so easy to become a part of and care for both only our main couple but all the wonderful characters she's given life to.

I thought this was the final book - and I'm so excited to see that I'm wrong because I just want the adventures of Kianthe and Reyna to never end or maybe we can have more from some of the background characters.

Like a good cup of tea, the Tomes and Tea series never fails to deliver a sense of contentment and joy.

A wonderful ongoing story for Kianthe and Reyna this time they are walking down the aisle but also to see if they can usurp the current Queen and replace her with her sister that has been found in another part of the Queendom. Dragon babies are now flying around Tawney during preparations for the festivities too.
A mixture of adventure, romance and humour this series is great to read. I’m now looking forward to book 4 I need more of this story all the characters are so fun to read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. - arc & monthly book box pick reviewer

I love this series! There's nothing better than diving into this cozy lesbian tea story amidst the chaos and stress of real life. I love the characters, their communication skills, their vast diffenrence in personality, their bond and found family, and I do love that we have time to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea.

Kianthe, our ferocious Mage and Pun Maker, certainly lives up to her name. Dealing with the dragons was nothing in front of dealing with her estranged parents who seem to disapprove of Reyna. I love how righteous Kianthe is, and how quick she is to defend Reyna but also listen to her when Reyna says "drop it".

Reyna deals a lot with her self-esteem and her feelings of "being a nobody who's married to her Arcandor". She takes care of Ponder and the baby dragons look up to her as if she holds the stars, and honestly, I love this for her! Reyna deserves everything! She inspires loyalty and exudes leadership without even trying. She's always composed and is 10 steps ahead of everyone.

The bond of Kianthe and Reyna is one of my most precious romance pairs ever. I love how well they communicate, how they listen to each other, how they put themselves in each other's shoes, how they understand each other; their relationship is so beautiful, and I sincerely hope that we see more such pairs in books, see pairs that talk to each other and solve their problems together.

And we get a new m/m romance pair!!!!!!!! They're so cute!! Of course, Feo and Wylan are certainly not like that, and there's nothing between them. The fact that they have their own conversations using their eyes only and a telepathy they don't possess and the fact that they spend their time with each other prove that they are not like that LMAO I love them, and I hoped we would see them much more in this installment. Alas, we met another m/m pair. I sincerely hope that we'll see more Feo and Wylan in the next and last installment, and dare I hope, a spin-off based on them?

I enjoyed every installment in this series, but in this one, there is a plot element that for the life of me, I didn't understand. And in these cases where I don't get a plot device, it bug me; hence the 4 stars.

However, I love the worldbuilding, the main characters but also the cast ensemble that is so wholesome and fully fleshed out. This is the perfect cozy fantasy for me.

And we can finally say goodbye to freaking Tillaine! Hooray!

A wonderful installment in a truly beautiful series!

- lots of tea
- sapphic main couple
- 2 side m/m couples (because yes, Feo and Wylan, there is something between you lmao)
- dragons and gryphons
- found family
- some pirates, too!

I just cannot cope with the fact that not only is there a massive cliffhanger at the end of this book and I've got to wait to find out what happens, but also the fact that the next book is the last in this series!

I just loved being back in this world with Kianthe and Reyna; of course everything couldn't be smooth sailing in the run up to their wedding!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

The third book in the Tomes & Tea series has to be my favourite so far! It's filled with "slice of life" moments, lots of cozy scenes, adorable magical creatures, endless puns AND a high stakes underlying plotline which adds action to the last part of the book.

After all their adventures to date, Kianthe and Reyna are 7 days away from their wedding - the "wedding of a generation"! Everyone's involved in setting it up, local friends, as well as pirates and characters from books past... and Kianthe's self-invinited parents, who she hasn't seen in decades! Except that's barely a minor problem, when you consider that their wedding is to be the stage of a coup, to finally depose a villainous queen 👀

All of this made for a fun mix of family drama, times with friends and political intrigue. And baby dragons. Those baby dragons!! So. Damn. Cute. And teen-gryphon Ponder trying to make them behave?! Absolutely adorable!

In this third instalment, Rebecca Thorne returned to using just two POVs, which I really enjoyed (even though I liked Bobbie and Serina in book 2), giving Kianthe and Reyna space for growth as they learnt to build bridges to people from their past, while still developing their ever-supportive relationship. The new characters introduced were fun to have on the side, with a few trying to out-pun Kianthe, which had me giggling quite a few times!

And the cliffhanger at the end... that took me so by surprise?! I just need book 4 ASAP.

While I enjoyed most of it, I wouldn't rate it 5 stars because I find the pacing and flow still imperfect, with jumpy passages that I sometimes had to read again. Moreover, a lot of side-character were very underdeveloped and could have done with a big more depth - I'm hoping they get more space in book 4, though.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Tea You at the Altar by Rebecca Thorne is a wonderfully cosy return to the Tomes & Tea series, filled with magic, romance and plenty of chaos. Kianthe and Reyna are finally ready to say their vows, but with just seven days to go, everything seems to be falling apart.

Their baby dragons are causing havoc in Tawney, Kianthe’s strict parents have arrived uninvited, and Reyna has found herself tangled in a dangerous plot against Queen Tilaine. With so many obstacles in their way, making it to the altar feels like a battle of its own. But with love, friendship and a little bit of magic, they are determined to make their dream wedding a reality.

The Tomes & Tea series has quickly become one of my favourite cosy fantasy reads. The characters are brilliant, the romance is heart-warming, and the mix of adventure and humour makes it impossible to put down. Just when I thought this was the perfect ending to the series, that shocking cliffhanger proved me wrong. Now I will be impatiently waiting for the final book to see how it all comes together.

If you love cosy fantasy, sapphic romance and found family stories, then this series is an absolute must-read.

I love this series! Every book has managed to combine cosy settled happy couple vibes with fantasy adventure and surprising twists. It was so much fun to see the development of the characters we had already met in the first two books and how that then fed back into the plot. The plot itself again was very clever and twisted in all the best ways. I also have to say the way that the lgbtqia+ representation is just embedded through is soothing in a way that I didn't know I needed. The fact that at no point does anyone say anything nasty or treat someone as less on introduction and the acceptance of pronouns on introduction casually without needing justification or smartass comment is just so refreshing.

I wasn't expecting the baby dragons to have hatched already and to be causing mayhem (completely adorably) and for Ponder to have grown so much. I really hope we find out what happens with all of their siblings in the next book because the only thing better then what we have now would be more of them!!!

I have loved every book in this series and have bought the special editions from broken bindings I definitely recommend these books to anyone that wants a fun fantasy adventure to read.
