This book remembers me of my favourite historical novels, which were also written in the previous centuries: The White Company by Arthur Conan Doyle and The Black Arrow by Robert Louis Stevenson. The similarities go by the young, naive, well-meaning hero, the pretty damsel (in distress) and the political upheavals in the British soil. Yet, this novel can not compare to the works of these literary giants. Also, my interest was piqued, but faded pretty soon because I find the plot being inconsistent, the internal logic is missing and the political parts are boring for me. But the youthful sweetness and romance is portrayed with the old-time charm which does not fail to get me.
