Thanks to Net Galley & Orion Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review. What a great read - lots of twists to this book, very complex characters.
Mags is a lawyer & lives & works is Vegas, she is travelling home as her younger brother has been in an accident & is in a coma, she hadn't seen him in years but has been told he has a fiancée, Jody.
Both woman appear very different, neither like each other when they first meet, but are they really so different? The tragedy of Abes's death hurts then both, Mags knows Jody knows something about the mystery surrounding the fatal accident & she is determined to get to the truth and she wants justice for Abe''s death.
The story touches on rape, murder and love and right to the end this book is full of surprises.

At the beginning I was finding it confusing trying to work out what was happening as the chapters moved between events and characters with no explanation .Once I had it worked out I really enjoyed this book ,though harrowing at times ,the characters were very real and I had great sympathy for Jody and Mags. The plot does twist and turn but I thought the ending was excellent .

I’m afraid I was very disappointed by this book. The title and blurb led me to believe it would be different than it proved to be.

The main characters have all suffered terrible mental and physical abuse when young and they never quite recovered. I didn’t connect with any of them

The last quarter of the novel became too predictable and all tied up too easily for my liking. As if the author run out of ideas or time and just ended it.

Highly recommended read.
This is a book that I really couldn't put down, absorbing and thrilling.
There are a lot of central characters and initially it took me a while to get to grips with everyone, what parts they played in the book but once I had, I was completely hooked.
I loved the way everything was turned on its head more than once, my thoughts on the ending to come changed completely.
A gem of a book, absorbing and enthralling. A definite must read

Jody's life changed forever in one day, haunted, alone and unable to trust, until she meets a handsome stranger Abe, her new neighbour, then life becomes full of possibilities. Mags receives a call, her life changed in one day, her brother Abe is in hospital, nobody knows what happened. Mags meets Jody, Abe's fiance, trying to piece things together but they don't quite fit..
What can I say Tattletale by S.J Naughton fantastic psychological thriller, a real page turner, always wanting to know what was going to happen next.
Tattletale is a straight talking, easy to read novel of endless twists and turns, breathtaking. I liked the way S.J Naughton described the characters, it was easy to see the strengths and weakness of each character and how it brings to life each character profile, which allowed me to determine if I loved, hated, pitied or related to each one. I highly recommend everyone to read this book I couldn't put down.

I thought this was well written but I was disappointed that it was so predictable because of knowing what so many of the characters were thinking. The reader is always a step ahead of Mags. The abuse theme was well handled and it was a memorable story.

Wow - I loved this. I was a little unsure at the start because I really didn't find Mags, the estranged sister of hospitalised Abe, that likeable a character, so it was kind of hard to feel much sympathy for her. Perhaps that's just me being a bit cold-hearted! She isn't the nicest person you could ever wish to meet though, but I do have to say that by the end I had grown quite attached to her, even if it did take most of the book for her to show her vulnerable side.

The dual narrative between Mags and Jody works well and drip feeds the relationship each of them share with Abe, thus holding a mirror up to both characters. Interwoven with these are the hauntingly horrific italicised entries which we're never told who they belong to until the end, but are at time very uncomfortable to read. All of these serve to ensnare us within the histories until we're trapped waiting for the blissful relief of the truth.

You could of course be quite smug like me, thinking you've got it all figured out, but then there's usually another layer added which means you're back to square one. So if I could be so bold as to give you advice before you start reading; just let yourself be carried along and don't preoccupy yourself with trying to figure it all out. What I will say is that at times I pretty much thought most of the characters were guilty such is the secrecy that shrouds them, but by the very end I just had the overwhelming sense of sadness that poor Abe had his future snatched away from him - the final chapter holding out such hope and promise.

This is one of those books that grips you right to the end. It'll have you reading just one more page constantly, until you breathe out at the end and realise just how much you've enjoyed it. I thought Tattletale was great and I reckon this is going to be another big hit for 2017 - and quite rightly.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance preview copy in return for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this well paced thriller. Mags receives a call from her brother’s fiancé, her brother has fallen and is on a life support machine.

To try and get to the bottom of his how he fell Mags start to delve into her brother’s life, a brother lost contact with years ago. She moves into his flat and starts delving through his life. But what she discovers doesn’t add up with what she has been told by his fiancé. What emerges is a story which twists and turns with different narrators, and different periods of time.

I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend.

Four stars.

Overall this book kept my interest and I enjoyed how it was told from different perspectives. I thought the ending was different from other books I have read which was enjoyable and I was satisfied with the ending for all characters.

Warning: this novel contains depictions of harrowing scenes of child and sexual abuse.
But Tattletale was a rip-roaring, well written and original story nonetheless. It's more a "whodunnit" than a thriller. It focuses around solving the mystery of a man who has either fallen or been pushed down a staircase. And that's all I want to say about the plot.
The beginning of it was a little hazy to me. I struggled slightly to keep up with what I was reading, trying to make sense of it all, and then filing it away to refer back to as the story developed. But by the 3rd or 4th chapter I'd settled into the rhythm of it.
It's a multi point of view narration, with flashbacks inserted every so often. I know all mystery thrillers seem to be written like that these days but I didn't mind it. All the voices were unique enough not to get muddled in my head.
However, I did find it hard to care much about Mags (the sister). She's unlikable and arrogant, which I usually don't mind - quite the opposite, really - but I found all her Britain-bashing very annoying.
Yet it was still a great read and I think it'll be a popular title once it's published.

***Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for my opinion.***

I struggled with this book. It's not for the faint-hearted; it really isn't. I don't know if I read this at the wrong time but it's as if there have been a lot of books about abuse recently and TV shows too so to read this kind of account just turned my stomach if I'm honest. Is it me or is it becoming something authors and tv shows include to shock people? Goodness knows what you would think if you are a victim of abuse yourself.

Although they are not close when Mags receives a phone call to say her brother Abe is in a serious condition in hospital after an accident she jumps on a plane and heads for the hospital to see him. She meets Jody who says she's his fiancé at his bedside and starts asking questions as to what happened. Some say he jumped and tried to kill himself, some say he was attacked. Join Mags as she tries to get to the bottom of things. Please note that there are some graphic abuse situations contained in this book. All in all this is a great read which I enjoyed. I received a copy of this book in exchanged for my honest and unbiased review

Tattletale is the debut novel from Sarah J Naughton and falls into the genre of British crime thriller, albeit with an American touch.

It is not however a detective novel so it was a fresh change. The perspective switches between several people.

Mags is the sister of Abe but hasn't seen him for a decade, she's called back to England from her home in Las Vegas when Abe is injured.

Jody is Abe's fiancée and devastated by his accident.

Mira is Abe and Josh's neighbour, she knows something about the accident but is frightened by her intimidating husband.

Alongside the main story told from the perspective of the 3 people above, there is also a back story running about a little girl who is abused. Her identity however isn't revealed.

The story is exciting and draws you in immediately, it's obvious from the start that something isn't right but it's not what you think.

The story hurtles down many different, twisting paths and everything is not what it seems.

None of the characters are particularly likeable which would usually put me off but instead it actually makes the plot more effective. The only thing I found disappointing was the portrayal of the British Police Force, I'm not sure that a PC would be investigating an accident like that or that so many things would be overlooked but I guess that also makes the story more effective!

Overall I liked this novel a lot and feel this author is one to watch out for with future novels!

A complex thriller about love, pain and denial. I very much enjoyed it and found it surprisingly emotionally gripping.

Loved it! Although some of the story was predictable I raced through the book, enthralled by the story.

Tattletale is a gripping story of Mags' search for the reason her brother Abe lies in a coma after apparently throwing himself down a stairwell at his home. His girlfriend Jody, who lives in the same building, insists all was well in Abe's life. The early chapters are confusing., with different characters appearing and no real idea of what part they play in Abe's tragedy.

Who can Mags believe as she unravels a very complex tale involving not just Jody, but also another neighbour, Mira and her abusive husband. Each character has suffered emotional and/or physical abuse during their life but to say any more would give too much of the plot away and it's too good a story to do that.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Orion for the opportunity to read and review Tattletale. A great new direction for Sarah J Naughton.
