Your must-read book for 2017. This is one of those exceptional books that, after finishing the last page, leaves you completely stunned and blown away, and ever so slightly numb. I didn't see it coming. The story is skillfully written, woven around the characters expertly. You will not regret it.

ore I start to review this I have to make reference to the ending. Before I stated reading I had seen comments about hating the ending. It's something that happens often but this one definitely wins the prize & it is the reason why I really cannot give it five stars which is a real shame as it up until then I was totally enamoured of it.
Louise a single mum, who has slightly let herself go since her marriage broke up finds herself in a steamy kiss with David, an man she met in a bar. She is horrified to discover that he is her new boss. A short while later she bumps into a woman (literally) and they strike up a friendship only for Louise to discover she is the wife of her boss. Before long Louise is tied up in a midst of lies and confusion.
This book totally gripped me. I found myself thinking about it when not reading it. I had come up with all sorts of explanations as to what was going on but none came close to the author's conclusion. I would certainly recommend it if you want a book you can't put down

Suspenseful. Intriguing and continuously keeps the reader on the edge with the most unexpected ending, recommended.

I have mixed feelings with this one, I did enjoy it but it was a bit far-fetched and I didn't find the ending as shocking as I expected with all the hype. Having said that it was an overall great book and I would defintley read more from this author.
It's told from two main characters perspective, Louise a single mum, who meets David on a night out where the evening ends with a kiss and Adele, David's wife. The next day Louise goes to work and meets her new boss, David! This is the point when she finds out he is married.
4 solid stars from me for this one.

Never read a book like it. Other than knowing the ending was one to watch out for I literally did not know what to expect and I certainly didn't expect any of what I got. A very original read which I will never forget.

Mind blown, can't get over the conclusion. What began to read like a fairly average, but quirky take on the ever popular psychological thriller becomes a whole other animal when the last few chapters come in to play. You think you've sussed it but believe me, there's nothing that can prepare you for the big reveal which makes you challenge every word read and every perspective given.
Whip sharp storytelling and utterly gripping, Pinborough is a force to be reckoned with. I mean, THAT ENDING, wow!!

WOW is all i can say!!!!!!! what an ending!! It took a few chapters to get in there, but when i did, it was great

Having heard a lot of good things about Behind Her Eyes I was keen to read this book, I didn’t know what it was about which is how I generally like to read books. It’s nice to be surprised.
What I found was a book that was very well written, the characters were strong and the story was interesting and easy to read. I was enjoying it and could easily understand the good things that I had heard about the book.
There was one part to the storyline that seemed a little unusual and I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but it wasn’t a major thing so it didn’t really bother me. I was really enjoying reading it.
But then the last chapter happened. Most psychological thrillers have a twist in them and it is fun to try and guess what it might be while reading, but I had absolutely no idea what the twist was going to be, it certainly took me by surprise. But, and I now know that the final chapter is a bit of a marmite chapter, I didn’t like it. I actually wish that I had read Behind Her Eyes right up until the final chapter and then let my imagination come up with the ending, as that would have been a much more believable and satisfactory ending. I don’t want to give too much away and ruin it, but I bet you won’t see it coming.
It’s hard when you really enjoy a book but don’t like the ending and I’ve knocked a star off because of it giving it 3.5*s, perhaps a bit harsh giving the number of amazing reviews that this book has but as I said it is a marmite ending. I will definitely read more from the author though, I’d be very interested to see what else she comes up with!
I received a copy of Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough from Netgalley, I was under no obligation to review it and my views are my own.

Wow What a great book. Part thriller and small part love story. A great storyline that keeps you guessing right to the end.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review

I really have no idea what to say about this book without giving away any sort of spoiler.
It really does take the most unexpected turn, it's a little slow to start and then it suddenly grips you to the point you can't put it down.
It's completely strange, wonderful and weird and a must read for those who like psychological thrillers.

I don't like to say, "this book is the next... whatever" but this really is up there with GONE GIRL and THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN.
There's not a lot to say about this without giving away the entire plot. The tagline #WTFthatending really is appropriate because... WTF?! That ending?!
BEHIND HER EYES is a fantastic psychological thriller, driven by a brilliantly well fleshed-out cast of characters. It starts slow but is soon speeding towards an ending so filled with plot twists. There was a point, at about 93%, I think, that I almost put the book down and said to myself, "this is ridiculous, could this actually be any more predictable?" because I was sure I had predicted the lamest of "plot twists" - but I was totally and completely wrong.

#WTFthatending indeed! I actually wiggled to half of that ending but completed missed some of the now obvious clues pointing to the true extent of that ending. Read in one sitting I'm still completely hooked by the storyline and was so drawn in by Louise, Adele, and David that it was a shock to turn the last page.
As a long-time fan of Sarah Pinborough's writing I'll be recommending Behind Her Eyes to everyone.
Full review to follow on blog soon.

Pathetic – utterly pathetic. Boring genre nonsense that tires you down so badly they had to invent their own hashtag pretending the ending was inspiring enough to keep waiting for. It's not, it's risible. It's like someone tagged the ending of Twin Peaks series two onto a Midsomer Murders episode, and it leaves a sour taste. Can we have the real Sarah Pinborough back, please – the one who writes characters you don't want to throttle, with a sensible plot – can we have her back please? Ooh, perhaps I better not say that – it's too close to a plot spoiler. Unfortunately every one of the 400 pages here is a spoiler of the old-fashioned meaning, in that it spoils your mood, and wastes your time.

"Behind Her Eyes"
By Sarah Pinborough
*“Don’t trust this book. Don’t trust this story. Don’t trust yourself.”*
So reads the strapline for this book. However, I urge you to trust me and I implore you to beg, borrow or steal a copy of this terrific read. You may even decide to buy a copy. Yes, that’s it. BUY A COPY. Heck, why not buy two copies and give the spare one to a friend? Because, trust me, you will want to share this book with other folk.
Having briefly met Sarah Pinborough last year and after being impressed with her sparkling contribution to a ghost story forum, I promised myself to give her books a go. As such, “Behind Her Eyes” is my first foray into her warped and deviously tricksy mind. You wouldn’t believe that such a charming and (relatively) innocent looking woman could deliver one of the most jaw dropping twists to a story line that I have ever read.
I’d read many comments and recommendations for this book across social media, and I was fully aware of, and intrigued by, the tantalising hashtag “#WTFthatending”. However, despite reading numerous mysteries and pyschological thrillers previously and although I was prepared for the twist ahead, when it came, the ending left me stunned. I thought I had it sussed out as the final chapters unfolded but the punch, when it landed, was a knockout.
Louise, a secretary at a private practice and a single mum, has a brief dalliance with David, an attractive man in a bar. So begins an absorbing and well paced tale as the lives of Louise, David and his wife, Adele, become dangerously entangled.
The story is set in modern times and told from the viewpoints of both Louise and Adele. Occasional flashback to events from the characters pasts help to pull you into this fabulous tale.
Sarah Pinborough has crafted a genuinely absorbing thriller which merits the accolades and recommendations it has received. Often books do not live up to the hype and hysteria surrounding them but “Behind Her Eyes” does. In fact, it exceed them. In my view, it deserves to be crowned the Thriller of the Year. It really is that good.
Trust me.

They say that every marriage has its secrets and that’s certainly true of David and his beautiful wife Adele, a golden-couple living a truly charmed life. Not only do David and Adele have an enviable lifestyle, they also have the perfect marriage, or so it seems to everyone around them. Scratch beneath the surface, though, and all is not so perfect. Louise knows this. Right from the start, Louise knows that her new boss is not entirely happy with his life - or his wife. How does she know this? Well, Louise may be David’s secretary, but before this, she was a woman he met on a night out – a woman he proceeded to kiss on that same night out. Then there’s his drinking, which is a little out of control, to say the least. And that’s not all. Following a chance encounter, Louise and Adele become friends, and soon after this Louise starts to realise that David may not be the perfect guy after all. Too bad then that she might just be falling in love with him.
Well, well, well…
I have to say that it’s not too often I’m surprised by psychological thrillers these days. I read so many that I’ll often spot a plot twist long before it happens on the page. Not this one, though. Nope. Turns out the hashtag got it right. I do love a good twist, especially when it’s one that’s as well-plotted and intricate as this one is. Behind Her Eyes is horrifically twisted, and even a touch macabre at times. It’s also brilliantly executed and addictive – one of those books you simply can’t put down, even if you have a whole lot of stuff you really need to be getting on with. All readers are different, though, and it turns out that some readers hated the ending of Behind Her Eyes, calling it ‘far-fetched’ and even ‘ridiculous.’ It’s not at all. Or maybe it is if what you’re looking for is yet another run-of-the-mill read that follows the tried and tested rules of every other psychological thriller out there. This is no run-of-the-mill read, that’s for sure. It’s certainly not your average thriller. The storyline here might seem familiar, but let me tell you, Behind Her Eyes is like nothing you’ve ever read before. In Behind Her Eyes, Sarah Pinborough doesn’t just break all the rules, she makes up a whole new set of rules - and that makes for a truly immersive reading experience.
Apart from the dedicated #WTFthatending hashtag that’s been doing the rounds on Twitter, I didn’t know all that much about Behind Her Eyes before going in and I think it works best that way. That can be said of most psychological thrillers, I know, but it especially applies here. I will say this: Behind Her Eyes requires you to keep an open mind. It also requires a little suspension of disbelief and a vivid imagination. Keep that in mind, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s certainly the most fun – in a very dark and twisted way – that I’ve had reading a book in a long time. A total winner. Read it now before someone spoils that WTF ending for you.
In short: Highly imaginative in a totally-twisted very off-the-wall sort of way, Behind Her Eyes is the must-read thriller of 2017.

I was thrilled to receive an ARC of this book (many thanks to Netgalley) as had heard so many good things about it. Many of these are true. 95% of this book is absolutely gripping, totally enthralling and leaves you at a complete loss as to what's going to happen next... sadly the remaining 5% ruins the entire book with its totally unbelievable, unrealistic and just plain ridiculous ending! I feel so let down as I feel the book could have offered so much more and yet expected a huge amount from its audience.
Don't get me wrong the book is very well written and is very readable ... but it's not very easy to write a summary of the events of the book without divulging too much. I am possibly in the minority with my thoughts on the ending, but I like a book to have a believable ending, even if I don't like the ending.... Sadly this fell short of the mark for me.

A deliciously dark, tangled web!
Oh my goodness! This is my first visit to the wonderful world of Sarah Pinborough and I was drawn into 'Behind Her Eyes' from the very first page. It is certainly a psychological thriller leading the reader into a deliciously dark tangled web.
The central characters are Louise, David and Adele and their lives become embroiled in one of the most compelling reads I've had in a long time. It tells of infidelity, obsession, frailty, lies, deceit and passion.
I always enjoy the narratives of alternate characters, plus linking episodes from the past to the present. Who is telling the truth? Who should we believe? Trust me; the author sends us in so many directions with her believable characters and excellent writing. I just couldn't put the book down and enjoyed the sinister, creepy undercurrents throughout. Just wait until you reach the finale. Just when you think you've unravelled everything...WOW! What an unexpected ending. Totally explosive!
I wish I could give five stars, plus, plus, plus. Enjoy! I will look out for Sarah Pinborough and can't wait for her next offering.

Breakaway Reviewers received a copy of this book to review

I had to really think about how I was going too word this review, yes I do understand why this book has acquired the hash tag that it has and yes I thought the ending was very shocking but probably not for the same reason that other readers have.
On a rare night out single mum Louise meets handsome David in a bar, after a evening of drinks and laughter they share a kiss.Louise doesn't expect too ever see David again so she is shocked when she discovers that not only is he her new boss at the clinic where she works but that he is also married to stunningly beautiful Adele. As Louise is drawn deeper into their toxic relashionship she becomes obsessed with unlocking their secrets even if it means putting her own life at risk.
The story is told in the alternating perspectives of Adele and Louise in chapters headed then/now/before and after. It is a character driven story and although the main characters are believable they are also very unlikable. That said when I finished the book I did find that I liked and felt more sympathy for one character by the end than I did at the beginning.
After a intreguing beginning the story does take a while too get going and to be honest I almost decided not too finish the book.I am glad I persevered because once it did get going I was totally hooked in by this twisted tale of lies, manipulation and secrets.None of the characters are who they seem and the story is packed with twists and turns. My one issue with this book is I thought that certain elements of the story pushed the limits of credibility a bit too far but that's just my opinion.

I got so caught up in the book I read it in a day. Forget the housework etc. a thrilling read.

Louise meets David in a bar one night and is shocked the next day when she turns up at work to find out that he is her new boss and he is married. She tells him that they can just be friends but when she meets his wife Adele she starts to become drawn into their lives
I don't want to say too much as don't want to give anything away but all I will say is Read It - it is a great book that draws you in immediately I couldn't put it down til I finished it and it certainly stayed with me afterwards. It is the first book that I have read by this author and I will definitely be looking for more!
