People who know me know that I rarely swear. Nothing against people who do and it doesn't bother me in a book but it's just not me. This book is being marketed with the hashtag #WTFthatending so it's not a spoiler to say you can expect quite the twist at the end. Could the book live up to the hype? Well I'm pleased to say it does!

This is going to be a difficult review to write without giving anything away but you can be sure I won't - I hate spoilers in reviews. In fact, I'd say to be very careful about reading many reviews in case anyone has inadvertently - or worse, deliberately - given away something important. In this book, you really need to have no hint of the ending before you read it. Although you may want to go back and re-read later with a fresh pair of eyes!

Louise is a single mother who meets a rather gorgeous man on a rare night out. They share a passionate kiss and she thinks it might lead to more but he says he can't do this and leaves. Disappointing for Louise to say the least. However, elsewhere in her life things are looking good for her as she is just about to start a new job. Imagine her horror when she discovers her new boss, David, is the-man-in-the-pub - awkward! She soon discovers he is married, which is why he didn't go any further when they met.

Even more awkward, Louise literally bumps into his wife Adele and somehow finds herself developing a friendship with her. She soon discovers that Adele seems a very vulnerable woman, very dependant on her husband, and begins to worry that Adele is a victim of domestic abuse both physical and psychological. So the thing to do would be confront David at this point right? Wrong, Louise keeps her friendship with Adele secret from David and her connection to David secret from Adele. This is never going to go well is it?

And I'm not really going to say much more about the characters or the story except that that all through the book you will be questioning what do you really know? And just who can you believe and trust? This is definitely a book to read for yourself to find out just what is going on.

So that ending? Well, I was trying so hard all the way through to work out what was happening and had a few theories, all of which were wrong. So I got to the end and would never have guessed it. And then I got to the REAL ending - #WTFthatending!

Louise is stuck in a modern-day rut. She is a single Mum and works as a secretary. On a rare night out she meets a Mam and the sparks fly. When Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss David,. Yes, you've guessed it, the man from the bar, who is married. He tells her it was a terrible mistake but he can't keep his eyes off her. Then she meets and becomes friends with Adele who just so happens to be David's wife. Together David & Adele look like the perfect couple,, but are they......

The first part of this novel made me think I was reading the script for the 1st episode of Greys Anatomy and that's why I could only give it 3*. I did enjoy the rest of this novel.

I would like to thank NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, Harper Fiction and the author Sarah Pinborough for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I found this to be a very strange book. After finishing it I'm still not sure what I think about it. It is described as a thriller but I found it to be too supernatural for my taste. Sorry !

#WTFthatending indeed! I don't want to say too much for fear of spoiling anyone, but 'Behind Her Eyes' is a psychological thriller with a difference. Full of twists and turns, some I guessed and some I didn't, but with one final sting to the tale that will leave you breathless.

A disturbing story that could very well prove to be a bit of a marmite book for some, but one I enjoyed immensely that kept me awake long after the final page had been turned as I couldn't stop thinking about it.

A fascinating 4 star read that is sure to get people talking.

One of the most highly anticipated books of 2017, Behind Her Eyes certainly lives up to the hype.

It's difficult to talk about the story as there are so many twists and turns I don't want to give anything away. The characters are wonderfully crafted, and so unlike any characters I have come across before.

The ending is a huge talking point already, before the book is even out. It even has its own Twitter hashtag (#WTFthatending FYI)!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who like thrillers, especially psychological, character driven ones.

There was a great pace throughout, the characters were very interesting and well developed. The storyline was intriguing and pulled me in. I had no problem turning the pages at all! As the book progressed I realised this was not going to be a straight-forward contemporary psychological thriller. I do think some clue should be given in the genre categorization or the blurb that hints at the paranormal. If that had been the case I would have found the ending completely acceptable and clever. But instead I felt a little cheated and this prevented me giving the full 5 stars.

The mystery/thriller genre has been crying out for something a bit different for a while. The girl who/on/in/with story has quickly become tedious purely because of over saturation the same could also be said of the quirky female detective with a past that catches up with her and a mother in a home type of story. Both been done to death.

This Book is something different. A good different.

I enjoyed this book immensely. I had no idea where it was going until it got there and just when I thought it was over I was slapped round the face and told otherwise. I'm not going to write a 500 word synopsis analyzing the ins and outs of the relationships and story lines so you don't have to read the book, Just buy it, Read it and enjoy it.

This book is all about the ending and getting there is a tense, mind messing delight. The characters are written in a way that had me liking them all at some point, except strangely Louise's son.

This book could quite easily have been a episode of Reece Shearsmiths Inside No9 or the equally as brilliant Charlie Brookers Black Mirror.

I enjoyed it. A contender for book of the year already.

David is a successful psychiatrist, Adele the beautiful wife keeping house. They appear to have it all, or do they??
Louise is a single Mum living in a high rise flat and secretary to David.
As Louise's relationship with David and Adele crosses from the professional to the personal you just know that their lives will never be the same again.
Hold on because this book is going to take you on a rollercoaster of a ride as you try and second guess what is going to happen. Switching between the past and the present you slowly start or try to piece together
the story of these individuals before you finally reach an ending that will certainly surprise and stun any reader.
The characters are wonderfully portrayed, the plot skillful and certainly unique.
Believe the hype because this book is seriously good!

I really enjoyed this book, it was so different and the storyline had me hooked from the very beginning, a real twist at the end that I won't reveal
And spoil the story. I was hooked from the first page. I really recommend this book

Well, WOW. I thought I knew how this one was going to end, prepared myself, but I was totally surprised. When the blurb talks about a shocker ending, you're anticipating something, but I am so glad I didn't read anything about this or any reviews before I picked it up. Started it thinking I'd read for about 15 minutes and didn't move until I read the last sentence. I don't want to give any spoilers or say too much about anything inside this totally twisted story! I really like when I open a book and find something fresh and orginial in this genre that has been overwhelmed lately by a plethora of so called psychological thrillers that are so similar that the titles and plots all blur together. This novel wasn't perfect, but it was quite entertaining and absorbing. Enjoy!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the e-book ARC to review.

Oh. My. Life. Seriously. No question about it - #WTFThatEnding is just about right.

Usually, at this point in my review, I would be rewriting the blurb, putting the story into my own words, broadening my understanding of the text and hopefully giving a fraction more enlightenment to anyone who should choose to read my ramblings.

I can't do that here. I just can't. Anything I say above what is written at the top is too much of a risk. There are so many elements to this book which if spoken of could ruin the experience for the new reader that I can only say trust the book and read. It's a bit like seeing 'The Mousetrap' in the West End. The reason that it has run and run for over 60 years is because nobody discusses whodunnit. The only way to know is to go for yourself (or look it up on Wikipedia if you just don't believe in the magic of surprise.) And a bit like the movie Fight Club, the first rule of 'WTFThatEnding' Club is that you don't talk about that ending, not outside of the club house.

So. How to talk about a book without talking about a book? Well, how about the characters? Three people embroiled in a complicated relationship built upon lies. Two are married, two are having an affair and two are engaged in a secret friendship. The wife, Adele, and the lover, Louise, are as different as chalk and cheese, and Louise knows that their friendship is wrong, as is her affair with Adele's husband David. And yet she is drawn to Adele like a moth to a flame, intrigued by her relationship with David and slightly scared of what the truth may be.

As Louise digs deeper into the secrets within Adele and David's marriage, as a reader I found myself drawn in, wanting to find out the truth and more than fascinated by Adele. She is a complex character, hiding behind a mask which, as the novel progresses, is slowly removed leaving the secret she is desperate to hide exposed. And Louise? Divorced single mother whose former husband is settling down and moving on making her feel even worse about her lack of life outside of her son and work, her affair with David is not really a surprise. She is a weaker character by nature, still hurting from the breakdown of her marriage and wanting to feel loved again, but so easily led by her friends. And as for David. He's like a chameleon, easily changing his colours to match his environment, his character slick and at times unbelievably charismatic, while at others aggressive and angry. And it seems everybody has a secret. The duplicity of each of this perfectly dysfunctional trio, even the ease with which Louise lies to both her friend and her lover, makes it almost impossible to know who to trust.

As is often the case, you can never really know what is going on in a marriage unless you are the one living within it. Even then sometimes everything is still just hidden behind a lie. This particular marriage is toxic, the main players manipulative and for those who get sucked into the mess the results can be devastating. Told from both Adele and Louise's points of view you get two very different ideas of what the truth may be. While sometimes switching between points of view can be off putting, almost confusing, the writing here is so assured, the characters so cleverly developed and the voices so distinct, that there is no question over whose head it is you are inside.

I personally found this book very compelling. I won't lie to you, when I first started reading I struggled to get into it, fearing it was another psychologically twisted domestic noir with characters I wasn't initially engaged by, and for the first half of the book I really wondered if I was going to enjoy it. But by part two I was hooked and sincerely glad that I had stuck with it. This is billed as a psychological thriller and I know this has thrown some people when reading it. I honestly don't know quite what genre this would fit into as to pigeon hole it as one thing or another would either set expectation or perhaps lead to bewilderment or disappointment. This has a fair chance of being one of 2017's marmite books. You'll love it or hate it because of that ending. I like books that live life on an angle and this is just about as acute an angle as you can get without it ending fully perpendicular to the start position.

And good god. That ending. Loved it. Absolutely loved it. Totally my bag. I thought I knew. Thought it was so bloody obvious from about two thirds of the way through but no. I rarely get blindsided by a book but this one totally got me. I think my brain is still bruised where it took a metaphorical clobbering. Genius.

So. My advice? For god's sake don't read the reviews on Good Reads or at least be selective on what you read. And avoid Wikipedia as some plank is bound to spoil everything posting the plot on there are some point (and probably getting it wrong). Go into this book blind and with an open mind. Trust the book and trust the writing. And if you do? Well you're in for one heck of a ride.

There's a reason that this novel has been branded with the hashtag #WTFthatending before its publication. When you get your hands on a copy you will understand why. I mean, seriously, WTF?!

Behind Her Eyes is SO much more than a psychological thriller.

Although when you first start reading, it seems to be the standard toxic marriage, horrible unlikeable characters it soon becomes clear that there is something different about this book.

Louise meets David, a handsome stranger in a bar, and kisses him before she; has any idea that he is about to be her new boss; and before she realises he is married. Louise is a sensible woman, as a divorced single parent, she has to be. But David has awoken something deep inside of her that makes her throw caution to the wind and entangle herself up with him.

Then she meets Adele, David's beautiful wife, and wonders what on earth she is doing. What on earth is David doing? Adele is perfect for him. They are perfect together. Why on earth is he looking elsewhere?

Adele is lonely, with no friends to speak of, she doesn't know of Louise's connection to her husband and wants to be her friend. Louise is too nice of a person to deny Adele her friendship, but she realises that she is getting herself into something that is not going to be easy or pleasant to get back out of again.

Told from both Louise and Adele's perspectives, Behind Her Eyes is a novel that will have you tied up in knots. You will not know who to trust, who to believe, and at points, you will not have a clue what on earth is going on - and it is brilliant!

This is a powerful psychological thriller with shades of the supernatural added. Well written, we follow developing relationships a young divorcee, with a man from a one night stand, who turns out to be her new boss and with his wife as a new friend. Sucked in by both, we learn of their history and scars which might be influencing present behaviour. But who should she believe? Is one dominant and the other a supplicant? If so, which one? Emotions oscillate.
The book moves at pace towards a gripping climax. Can all three survive? Certainly relationships cannot go on like this. Read the final Chapters particularly carefully and no peeping at the end out of sequence. You'll spoil it for yourself! There is a lot happening in this book which makes it a good read even if a bit exhauting.

Cleverly done, a well paced multi narrator story with a neat twist at the end. The author keeps the pacing throughout and the story is well crafted.

This book has to have been the biggest roller coaster ride of a read ever. One minute I believe David and the next I hate him and believe Adele. Then I go back to believing David and it just happens over and over again throughout the book. As a reader, you are never 100% sure what is going on. When I finally had it all figured out, I was like 'phew.' But then I read the last bit... And realised I really didn't have a clue what was going on at all. This is the perfect book for people who like a twist.

This book is AMAZING! I really didn't expect to not guess the twist, and so I was second guessing myself all the way though, and the ending was truly surprising. I loved it! I found myself sitting there with this giant grin spreading across my face at how clever it was. It was a brilliant book all round, with interesting, *really* flawed characters and an engrossing mystery.

I may be fan-girling about this book a little too much but I think the title is so clever! If I thought 13 Minutes was good, Behind Her Eyes is then a masterpiece.

Single mum Louise may have gotten more than she bargained for in befriending the wife of the man she had the most glorious kiss with. It doesn’t take her long to realise things are clearly not right, but who knows who Louise should believe – the wife who has become her best friend or the husband who is her sweet lover?

The table of contents cover has a Benjamin Franklin quote, “three can keep a secret if two are dead”, which let off the Pretty Little Liars theme tune in my head.

This is a very addictive and heart-pumping read that is beautifully unpredictable with a paranormal edge. I’m not a huge fan of the fantasy/paranormal genre but I think it makes the story that bit more brilliantly creepy. It reminds me of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and I can see Nicole Kidman starring as Adele.

Watch out for this masterpiece!

This book started off really really well, it grabbed my interest, the characters were relatable, the storyline was good, it starts with suspense, the first characters covered in leave and with mud in their fingernails and makes you want to know what has just happened -which you don't find out until at least halfway through the book and as you are told the story by different narrators (as the marketing suggests-"trust no-one") which of the narration of the characters you can actually trust-(if any), then it all started to get a little bit silly and this lowered my opinion of the book. I think the author could have carried on the story without having to introduce lucid dreaming and still made it a thrilling story!

A little way through the book I started to get annoyed with the character Louise and the things she would do, some of which I didn't think someone in her situation would do-(anyone with children knows your child will always come first) and actually found myself not liking any of the characters by the end of the book, (perhaps this was the author's intention?)

The book is advertised as a thriller but as others have said it has a paranormal element to it, and, to me there was a slight horror to the end!

The ending is certainly interesting but I do think many readers will see it coming, but maybe not the other part of the "killer twist" as marketed.

It's a good story to begin with but does become a little far-fetched by the end!

I finished reading this book at 2am – I was so tired but I simply couldn’t stop reading! This book is genuinely the most compulsive, twisty and thrilling book I’ve read in a long time!

I requested Behind Her Eyes because I’m a big Sarah Pinborough fan but also because I kept seeing the hashtag #WTFthatending and I was intrigued. I read a lot of psychological thrillers and so often can see the ending coming so this book felt like a bit of a challenge – would I be able to figure it out? The answer is a resounding no! As I was reading I would feel like I was on the cusp of seeing what was coming but then I would be proved wrong every single time. I then got so caught up in the story as I was reading and as it was happening that eventually I wasn’t even trying to figure it out, I just wanted to know how the whole mess of these three peoples lives was going to end!

This book starts off with David and Louise having met in a bar, and then the next day at work it turns out that not only is he her new boss, he’s also married. Louise can’t help but be intrigued by David, and in turn by his wife Adele when they bump into each other in the street one day. Then so begins a novel where the three parties lives become more and more intwined, and more and more twisted, and eventually you are so engrossed in the novel that you have no idea what will happen next.

I have to mention that the title of this book is so completely and utterly perfect, there is a line in the book that brought that home to me and then when I reached the climax of the novel I had a wry smile to myself. Perfect, perfect, perfect!

This novel endlessly shocked me, and I loved that! It’s rare to find a novel that is genuinely dark and twisty and messed up but this is that novel! I will be recommending this book to everyone… along with the warning that you may never sleep again once you’ve read it! My heart was racing so fast when I got to the end that I couldn’t fall asleep for ages but that shows what a brilliant and unique thriller this was.

Behind Her Eyes is due to be published on 26 January 2017 in the UK and can be pre-ordered now!

Book supplied by Netgalley for an honest review.

I was really enjoying this book. The writing had the urgency and passion of Gone Girl, and both have a lead character whose scheming offers intrigue and suspense. Great, loved it, flying through the pages, dying to know more.

Then I hit Part 3.

Christopher Castellani, in his excellent book ‘The Art of Perspective,’ says that the first few pages of a novel serve as a contract between the reader and the author, establishing the narrative strategy and the style to expect. In ‘Behind Her Eyes’ the first two parts strongly defined what to expect, i.e. ‘Gone Girl 2’, but without ruining the twists, Part 3 didn’t just throw a spanner into the works, it emptied the entire toolbox. I could see where the book was going, enough hints had been laid, but I just hoped it was a tease and it would veer away. Sadly it didn’t.

This is difficult to rate as the ending didn’t work for me, but, since the writing is good and the characters are well formed, it would be unfair to give it less that a 4!
