I really loved this book. Your initial premise about the type of book this is, is totally turned on it's head. This is not your average psychological thriller, and you may have to suspend some belief , but it is worth it. The writing draws you in, and you can’t put it down until you have finished. I don’t want to say too much, as it would give too much away, suffice it to say I loved the book, although I would have changed the ending slightly.

For the most part this would be regarded as a psychological thriller with a nod to the fantasy genre. Of its type this is a decent enough outing , although the build up to the big finish was very protracted. Another cavil is the alternate narrative style which, although unavoidable with this storyline, is a difficult trick to pull off and it doesn't succeed entirely in this case.
In essence a proficient enough "thriller" although I found the three main characters unlikeable so it was difficult to care about what happened to them. However, for many this will be a good read so if you like the
exploration of psychosis interesting this could be for you.

A cracker of a story! The author had me trying to out guess her and I failed miserably. A truly original read with plenty of twists and turns. Had to suspend belief at times especially Louise's actions at the end, but the climax made up for that.

If you were ever thinking of having an affair, I guarantee you won't after reading this account of passion, jealousy and revenge. The intertwined lives of the main characters builds in a dark, phsycological story that has you wondering who really is mad. I enjoyed reading the book, although the twist was a little far fetched for my liking, it certainly held me and was an original outcome. I would be happy to read further books by this author.

This was the first book I read in 2017 and it got the reading year off to a fabulous start!
Through the eyes of both Louise, struggling and unhappy single mum, and glamorous and seemingly together and accomplished Adele, the author draws you into a story where you soon realise that you don’t know who to believe or who to trust. But this is much more than a mysterious, dark love triangle – there’s a massive twist that I guarantee you really won’t see coming.
Aside from the very, very clever twist, the writing itself is excellent. The characters are well-developed, believable and Louise is relatable and really likeable. The dialogue is convincing and the situations and settings are authentic however strange the story becomes.
A remarkable book, enjoyable and compelling – do read it!

Great read and easy to follow story. Look forward to reading more from this author

This is a character driven psychological thriller. It is well written enough to keep the reader engaged. The three main characters of Louise, David and Adele are unlikeable. Louise finds herself involved with David who turns out to be her new boss. She runs into his wife, Adele, and a cloying, claustrophobic, but close and secretive relationship develops between them. Since her divorce, Louise has had a stagnant and isolated personal life, and she needs the attention she has begun to receive. David is the first man she has a sexual affair with since her husband. Despite the guilt she feels, she gets drawn to and more closely entwined with Adele. A sinister and toxic image of Adele and David's marriage emerges.
Louise has night terrors which Adele wants to help her with. She gives the mysterious notebook of the elusive Rob to guide her to counter those terrors. In a tale that takes in cats, fires and constant relocations of David and Adele, Louise may find that she has bitten off more than she can chew as she enters the uncharted waters of David and Adele's marriage. I am aware that many really love this novel, unfortunately I am not one of them. For me, the story developed does not segue well into the twists that unfold at the end. The dissonance I experienced between the rabbits pulled out of the hat at the close of the novel, felt like the author had arrived at calculated intellectual solutions which fail to match the revealed storyline. The character of David feels underdeveloped, and I did not have sufficient reasons to believe in his and Louise's relationship. However, I am sure the majority of readers will like this book. Many thanks to HarperCollins for an ARC.

Well this was an intriguing little book, told through two narrators, Louise and Adele. I thought initially it was going to be another tale of a wronged wife/lover, but it's so much more than that. It not only switches narrators, it also jumps between the past and present, adding a sense of disquiet and mystery from the beginning.
The initial meeting between Louise and David promises so much, but the ensuing revelation that David is her boss, is enough to send anyone into a state of apoplexy. The subsequent meeting with his wife Adele is odd and really quite uncomfortable. And this sense of things being slightly off, continues throughout the story. Adele might be beautiful, but I couldn't help thinking she was slightly deranged and more than a little bit creepy. I wasn't ever completely sure what was going on with her, though it definitely seemed more than just a woman wronged. I should say though that it is easy to see how Louise gets sucked into whatever game she was playing.
Louise is in turn a likeable character who I was rooting for; her and her son Adam. I know it was wrong to want David to be her knight in shining armour, but I couldn't help but feel that she was deserving on some happiness. And I'm not going to spoil it by giving more away, but it's certainly a step away from the norm.
I thoroughly enjoyed Behind Her Eyes, and I'm sure you will too. A great story, laced with promise, tension and surprise.

Single mum Louise is content with her life until she meets David. Young, attractive and interested in her, she can't believe her luck. Then she meets her new boss and, to her horror, it's the same man. What makes matters worse, is that she also meets and befriends his wife, Adele. It doesn't take Louise long to realise that there is something very wrong with their marriage but who is telling the truth? Is David the dangerous control freak he is being made out to be and is Adele as weak and vulnerable as she claims?
There has been a lot of online buzz about this book and so I felt I had to see what all the fuss was about myself. Although the blurb clearly states that there is going to be a killer twist, I was certainly not prepared for what it was! Knowing that there was going to be a twist, I spent most of the book desperately searching for clues to no avail - this is something that cannot be predicted!
It is quite hard to review this book without giving anything away, but I will say that the story is told mainly from the perspectives of Louise and Adele, both in the present and in the past. The characters are well-written and the author does a fantastic job in steering you away from the truth so that when that ending does come it hits you hard!
Behind Her Eyes was not the book I expected, but this is a good thing! It's not often I am completely wrong-footed by a book so well done Sarah Pinborough! My advice would be to read other reviews of this book sparingly as there are a few spoilers out there...

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity of reading this book as an arc.
This is a hard one to review for me as I really enjoyed it but didn't like the direction it went in.
It was a great psychological thriller and it kept me turning the pages wanting to know what was going to happen. None of the characters were very likeable but that wasn't a problem, sometimes these are the best kind of books. There were lots of twists and turns and the ending was certainly a wow moment. However, when I realised there were supernatural elements in the book, this did put me off. It is purely a personal opinion, I know a lot of people enjoy this genre, it is just not for me.
The book was well written and enjoyable, it would have been 5 stars for me if it wasn't for the supernatural themes.

I was really looking forward to reading this book as the blurb promised a gripping psychological thriller, which is my preferred genre. Unfortunately, I found it neither gripping nor thrilling and I didn't enjoy the elements of paranormal either. I found it quite slow and repetitive in places, with stereotypical characters, contrived dialogue and far-fetched plot. However, the story intrigued me enough to continue reading as I wanted to find out what's going on. The ending certainly has a shock factor, which will appeal to many readers. Possibly, I didn't enjoy it enough as I generally don't like paranormal books.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.
