Christmas in New York is one of my bucket list items. Watching the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center, ice-skating (OK, watching the ice-skaters), horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park, hot-chocolate at Serendipity all bring an atmosphere of Christmas joy to my mind and in this story, I got to tag along with Clover and Cade and experience it through their eyes. Not all of these things happen in this story, but these are the things I would love to do in New York at Christmas.
I liked Clover and Cade, but it was little off-putting for me at first how abrasive she comes across when she meets Cade for the first time. She struck me as a little rude and obnoxious at first, but I soon chalked it up to her trying to keep things light. After meeting her family, I understood why she keeps many people at arm’s length. Cade is very guarded and suspicious of people, being a Hollywood superstar and with good reason. Hiding out on Long Island for Christmas sounds like the perfect escape from the Hollywood gossip rags and the bad breakup he left there.
Clover and Cade couldn’t be more opposite in everything; in fact their lives, likes and dislikes are polar opposites from one another. I really didn’t see how they would find their way to one another; much less create enough chemistry to fill a story. Cassie Rocca does a good job of revealing not only both characters in all of their vulnerability, but using their insecurities to break down the walls they each have built around themselves. I enjoyed watching this couple learn to trust each other and let their guard down.
My Final Verdict: A good choice for readers who enjoy a cute story in New York at Christmas. It will make you want to go outside and make snow angels.

I had read the previous book about the family and really enjoyed it. So I was really looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint. At times I wanted to knock the heads together of the characters but it worked out in the end!

It’s only the end of September yet and all the Christmas books are slowly show up in the review pile again. Has it been a year already? What a lovely place to start by reading this story that takes place in New York City, a city I’ve always dreamed of travelling to.
A New York love story introduces us to Clover O’Brian, a personal gift shopper. Her job consists of helping people in the arduous task of choosing unusual gifts. Next we meet Clover's new neighbour handsome Cade Harrison, a Hollywood actor, he is handsome, rich, famous and popular. As they bump into each other, and get to know another, Cade eventually asks Clover to be his personal shopper … Cassie Rocca then takes you on a delightful wintery tale full to the brim with drama, passion and heartwarming cheer. As you know, anything can happen in New York. Overall I found this to be a nice little romance and a likeable Christmas short story, and I would be happy to have the opportunity to read more of Cassie Rocca in the future.
Lovely heartwarming book to read over the Christmas period. I enjoying reading this curled up on a sofa with a blanket and cup of hot chocolate. Nice and easy to read which is exactly what I was looking for
A short but sweet story. Who doesn't love a story like this? Wonderful setting, wonderful a characters and a romance to adore.
A New York Love Story by Cassie Rocca is a delightful festive romance that is perfect to read at any time of year. I loved it. It's a real Cinderella love story that warmed my heart.
The novel explores the theme of identity. It is important to be who we were created to be. No pretence. Just being 'real' and enjoying the simple things in life. "She had never lost her childish excitement." Christmas can bring out the child in us all. It is a magical time for hopes and dreams.
Christmas has romantic connotations - the lights, the snow, the ethereal quality where it feels like anything could happen. Cassie Rocca has perfectly captured the mood and the romance with her comprehensive descriptions. The reader can 'see' and 'feel' the festive atmosphere.
The novel warns about the love of money, fame and falsehood. Where outward appearances matter more than anything. Where the value of kindness is diminished and no one is really happy and tensions rise. In contrast, kindness speaks volumes and is beautiful and attracts others like a moth to a flame.
There is the theme of family too. Families can build up or tear down. Both types are portrayed within the story.
The characters are warm and welcoming. The take up residence in the readers heart and warm the soul.
The novel was fun and light hearted. There were some wonderfully amusing incidents as one of the characters was accident prone. I literally laughed out loud at times.
A New York Love Story was a real feel good read. It is absolutely perfect for any time of year. Why wait for Christmas when you can read it now?
A wonderful, warm and welcoming romance.

Reading this during the festive period with the holidays approaching really made me get in to the book, I could feel the cold during late evenings, sitting on the bed in one position for hours, having coffee/ tea breaks. Whatever was being described in the book, in the alternate universe (so in real life) similar some stuff were happening to me (what a coincidence right? :D). It didn't snow in December (it never does just maybe on the rarest occasion!).
A sweet romance story between Cade and Clover, as the synopsis suggests they are two very different people from different worlds. But isn't that what makes the story so great?
Cade is a famous hollywood actor who is currently hiding from the media after a brief showdown with his ex, he just wants to escape from all of this, live a normal life for once. So what does he do? His friend lents his apartment to him as fate would have it, it's right opposite from Clover's house. They are neighbours!!!! Cade is the type of person I would look for in a boyfriend, he is sweet, tall, considerate, funny (humour goes a long way!) and not to mention handsome *gooey eyes*.
But no really he is sweet and considerate (so you have said already), on Clover's birthday he surprises her but inviting her close friends for a small get together and a birthday cake in the wee hours of the morning. Aren't gestures like this so cute? I love it when the guy impresses his girl with stuff like this.
Clover on the other hand, is like the icing on the cake. She is so helpful, sweet, plays with the local children, and really really funny. Because of her job as helping people choose what presents to buy for Christmas, Clover feels very lonely, she can't remember the last time someone had bought her a present on Christmas, she doesn't want to spend Christmas alone but then she doesn't want to burden her friends either when she tells them about her plans. Her relationship with her family isn't very good, she hardly ever sees her brother, her sister in law hates her so this year she decides to spend Christmas by herself. Cade's relationship with his family is very loving, his mother can be quite bossy in the most adorable way a mother can be, which is why he lies to his family. Unknowingly to both, they are exactly what they were looking for without searching for it.
I did really love Cade and Clover's relationship, it was just so HARD not to love their adorableness at trying to impress one another, Clover overthinking about everything that happens, Cade going to lengths trying to get Clover back and Clover's funny humour (especially when she mentions him signing fans butt *falls of the chair laughing*).
This is what all Christmas stories should be like, a wonderful tale between two very different characters that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Lovely 😊
This is a wonderful, feel good Christmas romance set in New York. It's a bit like a Cinderella story. Our heroine Clover is a personnel shopper and our hero Cade is a hunky film star. They meet when Cade moves in next door to Clover. He is looking for peace and quiet, away from journalists. He meets Clover and they fall head over heels in love with each other. However its not easy for them to live a quiet life together. A great story!
