Description
A wonderful romance for fans of Debbie Johnson and Holly Martin. Will the magic of Christmas be enough to light a spark...?
Giving a present is not always easy. Clover O'Brian knows that only too well: her job consists of helping people in the arduous task of choosing unusual gifts. Christmas is coming, New York is buzzing, and Clover, who has always loved the festive period, savours the atmosphere.
Cade Harrison already has everything in life. A Hollywood actor, he is handsome, rich, famous and popular. Success, however, has its downsides; having just emerged from a disastrous relationship with an actress, he feels a need to hide away in an area unfrequented by stars, in an apartment lent him by a friend, far from prying eyes – especially those of tabloid reporters. But as chance will have it, the apartment in question is right opposite the one occupied by Clover, who until now has seen Hollywood actors only on the big screen. Two quite different lives meet by chance, at the most exhilarating time of year...

Clover O'Brien is a unique kind of girl with a special kind of job. She finds presents for people; the perfect present to spoil those they love. Clover has a wonderful job, she is living in the most amazing city, New York and she has some fabulous friends. Also it's that special time of the year, Christmas; a time that Clover absolutely loves. Life should be great except she has no one really that she can call her own and she has never really worked out how to fit with her family. They are embarrassed by her larger then life personality and alternative dress sense. Clover really would like a happy ending.
Cade Harrison, a handsome successful Hollywood actor, is about to stumble in at the right moment into her life. Hiding out in a house next door to Clover, Cade is not quite sure what to make of his neighbour who really isn't that impressed with his claim to fame. Before long these two characters are finding out that the heart wants what the heart wants.
This is a really great Christmas story with lovely characters. I did find the back story of Clover a little difficult to process at first but once the story got going and I got to know Clover a little more I really quite adored her. The supporting cast were fabulous especially Cade's mum which helped the story to hum along with ease. There was much to like about this tale and the romance was truly sweet. This is one to curl up on a couch with the book in one hand and a cup of cocoa in the other, the plate of Christmas cookies nearby.
Great book I felt as if i was in New York with the characters I
was hooked from the start.
Easy to read with a predictable end, but left me with a warm comfortable feeling. A feel good factor read
This is a fun Christmas miracle type story with a quirky heroine. Clover perfectly intuits the perfect gift for everyone-except herself. Basking in the glow of the holiday season, Clover crosses path with Cade, a Hollywood icon hiding out from the media and his media-created ex-fiancee.
As Clover and Cade get to know each other, hilarity ensues with Clover's co-workers and her pretentious family as well as the media stalking first Cade then Clover. The romance progresses at a pace that is slow enough to be believable yet fast enough to create the sparks between Cade and Clover. Cade is the ultimate hero, who listens to Clover and identifies the perfect gifts for her. Unfortunately, just as the romance is heating up, the tabloid media circus creates obstacles for the couple that might seem insurmountable.
A great, fun holiday romance that captures the spirit of the season and New York!
Main character Clover has my dream job - choosing gifts for other people each day. She loves Christmas despite the fact that she never spends it with her cold, unloving family. Whilst playing with some neighbourhood kids one day she literally bumps into a big Hollywood star, who is staying nearby, trying to do so secretly in order to get sone peace from the paparazzi. The two of them start to form a relationship but can it survive a publicity storm?
Loved the details about New York that the author dropped into the story and I was envious of the many snow falls. A delightful festive love story where the course of true love (as always) does not run smoothly. Wishing for snow and fairy lights now!
