When Prudence’s best and oldest friend Jodie is found dead at the bottom of a cliff, Prue feels as if she’s been swept up in a whirlwind.

After a failed marriage that left her penniless with a small child to take care of, Prue needs her friend more than ever.

But now Prue finds herself all alone.

In desperate need of a job, her landlady persuades her to take over Jodie’s old job. But things take a mysterious turn when Prue discovers a strange letter on Jodie’s work computer.

She takes it to Jodie’s husband, Tom, but when he dismisses the whole thing, Prue is left feeling lonelier than ever.

With only Ian – her landlady’s brother – left to turn to, Prue is determined to unravel the truth behind Jodie’s death.

But even Ian seems to be growing more distant as Prue’s fears from her previous marriage keep stopping her from returning Ian’s advances.

Lost, lonely, and plagued by thoughts of what Jodie’s letter might mean, Prue soon realises that she must travel down the darkest of paths to find the truth.
