Description

When an American missile submarine is sunk in the Sea of Japan, it's the opening move in a madman's plan to plunge the world into war. A day later the Chinese ambassador to Washington is assassinated. Meanwhile, the unstable leader of North Korea prepares to attack America with a terrible weapon.

The U.S. President calls in the Project, a deep black ops unit that goes places and does things others can't or won't do. They've had tough assignments before: but this time they're up against an unknown enemy, a man bent on vengeance against all of humanity. He won't rest until the world is turned into a radioactive hell… and when it comes to the Project, it's personal.

I spent eight years in the military. I was Army Infantry, but a smart infantry soldier can be used anywhere in the army system, so I had a lot of interesting jobs. I worked a lot with the special forces. These guys are different. They are unique, they are, well...special. I love to read military fiction and some of the best stories are about the special forces. The problem is that I have lived and worked with these guys and some writers just don't get them, or what they do, right. If you want to read a realistic novel of the special forces and other elite people who work for our government, read High Alert by Alex Lukeman. I have served in Asia, where a lot of the action occurs and, let me tell you, that you are getting a very realistic story.

I liked the characters in High Alert more than I appreciated other elements of the novel. Everything was done well. The setting, the writing itself, the plot. High Alert by Alex Lukeman is a well put together novel. It should be. It is the fourteenth book in The Project Series. You don't get to do it fourteen times if you are doing it wrong. No, the rest of the elements were done well, it's just that I fell in love with these characters. They reminded me of people I served with. I knew soldiers just like Ronnie Peete and Lamont Cameron. Reading this book made me miss my days of service.

Another great book about the Project. Nick is still temporarily in charge but Elizabeth has woke up but not ready to be back to work. Someone is trying to start the third world war. Can Nicvk and the team figure out what is happening and who is behind it. North Korea seems to be the catalyst for starting the war but none of the big powers are wanting this to happen. Can they work together? Many things going on and need to be brought together.

High Alert by Alex Lukeman from BooksGoSocial publishing holds your attention from the first page.
This fact paced exciting thriller is like reading a page from today's news. The story line is excellent, A nutjob North Korean leader ready to drop a nuclear bomb with a few exciting twists. It is well written and has good, highly likeable, interesting, and believable characters. What else can you ask for? It has left me wanting more and interested in reading the other books in the Project Series, and there are currently 17 books in the series. I would strongly recommend this book to fans of Action Adventure books, you won't be disappointed.
Thank you NetGalley, Alex Lukeman and BooksGoSocial publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
