A kind bunny gets the rare chance to make three wishes, but he doesn't know what to wish for. He asks his friends what they would do with a wish and he ends up granting all of their wishes. He left no wishes for himself, but his kindness is rewarded tenfold.

The soft, dreamy illustrations are so gorgeous that I want one copy for my own shelves and two more copies so I can frame every page! :D This book is a sweet tale about the gifts of friendship and sharing.

Cute illustrations.

Wonderful story about what different friends would wish for if they had a wish, and what sort of adventures for all of them could spun from such a wish.

MY REVIEW

Rabbit is chose by 3 wishes and he asks his friends, Mouse, Fox and Bear, what would they wish for?

Rabbit asks, Is this wish for me?

This is a beautifully illustrated book that conveys such emotion and is delightful and whimsical. It’s about friendship, generosity and kindness…. and would make a lovely snuggly read.

I would like to thank the Author/the Publishers/NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review

There have been several picture books of late trying to show compassion for others, and they have all been a little heavy handed. This book too, tries to show that if you thnik of others, before yourself, that it will all turn out well in the end, because you will being doing a mitzvah (a good deed), and in additon to that being good, those you did the good deed for will return the favor.

In this case, the rabbit is given three wishes, and he has no idea what to do about it, so he asks his friends, and they tell him what they would wish for. And so he grants them their wishes, and leaves nothing for himself. But it is all good, because he gets to have adventures with his friends.

A cute way to show compassion.

Wish tells the wonderfully charming tale of a little rabbit who one day is lucky enough to be chosen by three wishes! Wishes are magical things, and unsure what to wish for Rabbit sets of to seek the advice of his friends, Mouse, Fox and Bear, to see what they would wish for.

A wish to fly, a wish to write and a wish to explore encourages Rabbit to share his gift and grant the wishes of his friends, and with that comes a touching tale about kindness, generosity and the magic of friendship.

Saunders illustrations are equally as enchantingly atmospheric as his way with words despite the slightly stilted rhyming scheme, but that doesn't make this book any less heartwarming and wise.

This book is a wonderful child book! To be honest, I would definitively gift it to my children as it represents everything I love in children's book: beautifully made illustrations, lovely animals as characters, easy-to-read text with the repetition that children love in books.

Wish is a gorgeously illustrated children's picture book that shares a beautiful message of empathy, selflessness, and generosity. Our 6 year old loved the rhyming and I found that it flowed well when reading it aloud. The messages throughout the book were relatable and I love the idea that it is never too late to start something new and it is even better when you do it with friends.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Books for granting my wish to read this book. I look forward to adding it to our home library soon.

The cover of this book immediately drew me in, and I had to download it. The illustrations remain lovely throughout, and compliment the themes of the story. I honestly would have preferred to see the text in prose, because some of the rhyming text felt forced. But overall, a sweet book to read with young children. It's imaginative and has a nice message of giving/sharing.

Review to come on several of the sources mentioned on my profile in 5 days (when the release date is closer by).

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

First up, thank you to the publisher for fulfilling my wish on Wish. Yes, this sounds as funny as it was when I got the mail. I had to read it a few time before I figured out that one Wish was the book. :P

But I just couldn't resist this book, just LOOK at this adorable and beautifully drawn cover, how can you say no to that?

In the land that Rabbit lives wishes take flight and if you are lucky you may do a wish if you are chosen by one. But Rabbit is extraordinary lucky as he gets three wishes!

I loved that he went to consult his friends, and that he tried to imagine if those wishes were also for him. Or if they just weren't for him. With each new friend I wondered if Rabbit would find his wish with his friends, or if he would eventually find a wish (or three wishes since he has three) for himself.

I loved reading the wishes of Rabbit's friends. From a Fox who wanted to be a writer (I just ADORED the illustrations for this wish) to a Bear who has done much exploring but hasn't explored the waves and the sea yet.

Then he makes his wishes, and I just loved that. It was so beautiful, so sweet, so inspirational that he would chose to have his wishes to be that, however I could already see what would happen after.

But the ending was just so sweet, and yes, due to stress of so many things I am very emotional, but I think I would have cried regardless of that. It was just so sweet, so pure. I am sure everyone will love this ending.

So, I would highly recommend this beautiful picture book about friendship and wishes. It will warm your heart.

Wish is a fantastic picture book. The colors and artwork are great. The story is simple and helpful for children.

The beautiful pictures highlight the story about wishing. I liked how the rabbit sought other animals' ideas about wishing. I was not as much a fan of the rhymes. At times, they seemed awkward. I would still would recommend the book, and it would probably work well in a story time setting.

Wish has the absolute most gorgeous illustrations I've ever seen in a book. I swear they almost look 3D. The story started out strong and has good intentions but I feel like our main character, Rabbit, doesn't really get a fair share back in turn for helping his friends. Of course we don't want children to learn to expect anything back from helping others because that's not why we should help people but still... I feel Rabbit should have gotten to be a little selfish with his wishes. I know. I know. I'm overthinking it. I enjoyed the story regardless. Perfect for Spring and
Easter. 🤗💞

Nothing here to dissappoint.
Filled with engaging illustrations; simple colourful drawings that captureand re-enforce the story.
Perhaps for the 3-4 pre school children as it tells of less croncrete things.
Rabbit suddenly has more wishes then he can imagine. He's never had a single wish before and now he has one less than four. On did I not tell you the writing is in the form of simple verse.
Well 3 big wishes what should Rabbit do?
He seeks thecounsel of friends who all make personal wishes as suggestions but their wishes are not perhaps those of Rabbit.
After speaking to three friends Rabbit is no clearer what he wants.
In the end he makes his wishes in the spirit of those he canvassed but while this may please his animal chums he remains unconvinced if he has made the most of his opportunity personally.
Simple story. Not always the most dynamic rhymes but a story that bounces along.
Children will love the characters and hopefully embrace what the result of wishes, our decisions take. Rabbit learns valuable lessons too and perhaps understands true friendship.

A very good book, but one where I failed to find the final kick that others found, that puts it on the 'classics' shelf. Rabbit finds three wishes drifting his way like dandelion clocks, and asks his friends what they would wish for. The end result is warm, and throughout the book just looks dazzling with lovely craft in the illustrations, but I felt the moral was a bit simple yet muddled. It's a plea to do things for the common good – from being generous you find generosity coming your way – but I didn't find things perfectly conveyed. Still, the bouncy rhyme and meter are pretty much spot on for the target audience, and this will definitely be liked. Not sure about the ribbon/scarf shtick, either, though.

This book is about wishes. Wish is different than others because of the simplicity of the words, yet its deeper meaning. Its also different because the words are simple, but the illustrations are elaborate and gorgeous. The rabbit has never been chosen by a wish, but is lucky enough to be chosen by three wishes. Rabbit goes to visit his friends to ask what he should do with his three wishes. After visiting each friend, mouse, fox, and bear, Rabbit asks, “is this wish for me?”
After visiting each of his friends, Rabbit says “I wish for the small to feel uplifted and tall. I wish for inspiration to wash over us all. I wish for a world filled with spirit and adventure, that we can enjoy and live in together.” Rabbit grants his friends wishes and realizes he has none left for himself. His friends give back to Rabbit and share their wishes with him. The illustrations in this book are gorgeous, water color. The characters and landscapes are whimsical.

In this story, Rabbit has never been granted a wish before. One day, Rabbit is given three wishes and he has to decide what to wish for. He spends his time going to friends asking what their wishes would be and deciding if their wish is something he should choose. In the end, he grants the wishes of his friends and in return he is shown that kindness paid back.

This story wasn't as smooth as I would have liked to me as an adult reader, but it won't be an issue for a little one. The illustrations are gorgeous and match the story perfectly. Lessons of empathy and showing respect/kindness to others are demonstrated by Rabbit who finds his good deeds are rewarded by his friends in good deeds back. I think the story would have been elevated even more if Rabbit was under a little adversity (to really drive the point home), but again, it will serve a young reader just fine.

Wish is book with beautiful illustrations and calming colors. Some children's books have bright bold colors but the soothing calming colors fit this story perfectly! Rabbit who has caught three wishes sets off to ask his friends what he should wish for. Mouse would wish to fly, Fox would wish to write that would inspire others, and Bear wishes for a boat to travel the sea. The lesson of compassion is seen when Rabbit grants his wishes to his friends. The reader is shown by helping others he is also helping himself.

I was surprised by how moved I was by this story. I had tears spring to my eyes at the end when Rabbit made his wishes.

A warm and emotional tale starring Rabbit and his friends. What would you wish for if you had 3 wishes? Rabbit can't decide and so asks his friends to help. One by one they make a wish and Rabbit lifts them, inspires them and gives them hopes and dreams come true. They then prove to Rabbit that friendship is something you don't need to wish for,

I am a huge picture book fan and this is one to add to a permanent collection. Children and grown ups alike could benefit from the message contained within the rhythmic text and stunning illustrations.

My favourite page is Rabbit with his three wishes, not for individual friends, but for anyone who dreams, hopes and wants adventures. Such a powerful message and an exceptional read aloud for all ages.

W. I. S. H. anagram...

Well-wisher. Inspirer. Sharer. Heartwarmer. Those are all the attributes of Rabbit as finally, one day, three wishes become his!

"Rabbit was mazed as wishes danced and rose,
then all of a sudden, one landed on his nose!
Two more wishes fell at his feet,
now he had three, oh what a treat!"

Whatever shall he wish for he ponders?

Undecided about those coveted gifts he seeks advice from his friends regarding their wish preferences. He visits mouse, fox, and bear. Without hesitation they share their wishes with Rabbit. After hearing his friend's hearts desires he finally focuses on himself.

"What would I wish for?"

As he reviews and recites his friend's wishes out loud he suddenly comes to the sad realization that there is no wish left for him. He uses up all three on them! Oh no!

He is feeling very sad and downhearted. His three buddies come to thank him for having their wishes granted and the kindness he expresses towards them. Will that be enough to heal Rabbit's heart and make their friendships even stronger?

This book is written in rhyme and the illustrations are beautiful. It highlights being selfless, kind and generous with others. Rabbit learns the law of reciprocity.... he helps his friends achieve their dreams and in return they include him in the wish that they each received. Rabbit is rewarded greatly for his goodness. I highly recommend this book.

An adorable heart-warming story of a selfless little rabbit who gets three wishes but does not know what to wish for. He asks his friends Mouse, Fox and Bear what they would with for hoping their advice would help him decide. Mouse would love to be able to fly, Fox craves inspiration to write exciting stories, while Bear would love to go on an adventure in the sea. After each conversation, Little Rabbit asks himself ‘Is this wish for me?’ Finally, he decides to grant all three wishes he had to his friends to make them happy. His friends are touched by his generosity. I especially loved the words of Little Mouse: ‘By noticing me, you helped me feel tall, treating me as your equal, even though I am small. So if you find yourself lost, forgotten or alone, just look to the sky and I will guide you home.’ They all decide to treat the Little Rabbit to a special surprise and take him on a joint adventure.
The story was very kind and sweet with a lovely message of thinking of others’ needs and wishes before you think about yourself. The illustrations, which are soft and dreamy with gentle colours, help to create a magical world where wishes come true and friends are there for you to share the joy of an adventure.
A perfect bedtime story and an ideal gift for any child.

The illustrations are certainly the highlight of the book. They’re really lovely. The story is sweet and moves along nicely with a good lesson. Some of the rhymes are a little clunky. A couple times I had to go back and reread a line to catch the correct rhythm. It’s still s nice book that I’m sure parents will enjoy reading to the little ones.

This book is about a cute little Bunny that is granted three wishes, he uses his wishes on his friends and has none left over for himself. His selflessness was returned by his friends in such a cute way. I loved the rhyming of this book and it kept my 17 month old interested. The colours of the pictures were beautiful and added a nice element to the story. This was a wonderful story and well written. We enjoyed it!

Rabbit finds himself with three wishes, but he doesn't know what to wish for. He decides to get ideas from his friends. And in the end, he decides that what he wants is something that will bring joy to all.

I was just mildly entertained by this book at the beginning. The rhyming and plot seemed average (good, but average). The only thing that stood out were the illustrations, which are AMAZING! But then Rabbit decides to do something extraordinarily kind and unselfish with his wishes, and he just melted my heart. Some may criticize this story saying that Rabbit has no thoughts of his own, but I think he does. It is not impossible to be at a point in life where all our needs are met and what we most want is joy and fulfillment for others. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Especially in a world where kids are constantly being told that they need the next new gadget or that brand new toy on the market, it is good to be reminded that giving away can bring just as much joy (if not more) than getting for yourself. What a sweet story about kindness that inspires others to be kind. And as mentioned, those illustrations are beautiful and magical all by themselves. Highly recommended to those who love beautiful artwork, inspirational stories of kindness, and cute animals.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wish by Chris Saunders is one of the most beautifully illustrated children's books--or just books in general--that I have ever had the pleasure to read. The artists' work was utterly phenomenal and I would be lying if I did not admit that a large reason I wanted to read this book was due to the amazing cover art you see before you. And this brilliantly dazzling artwork holds to the same standard as the cover through the entire book, amazingly filling me with a great love for this book based on the art alone. Of course, Wish is still so much more than just its artwork.

Wishes in the world of this book appear as little bright circles that one day appear before our main character, Rabbit. In fact, Rabbit does not only find one wish, he finds three! But Rabbit is unsure of what to wish for and so he goes out to ask three of his friends; Mouse, Fox, and Bear. These three friends have no problem whatsoever informing Rabbit of their deepest wishes and I found myself connecting most with the fox--which was wonderful and I will scream to the world for the rest of my life how much I love this book for making the fox wish to be a writer; I could honestly just cry at how beautiful and emotional I am about this moment--and while Rabbit remains unable to decide what he would wish for, he considers each of his friends deepest desires.

The question then becomes are the wishes of Rabbits friends the right wish for him? And if they are not, what then should he use his three wishes for? I wont say much more than that as to avoid spoiling the beautiful ending of this novel, but believe me when I say that it gives a lovely message and does well to support the amazing feats of friendship. I will definitely be getting myself a copy of this book at some point in the future and I have no qualms in admitting that, while I love the message, it is partially because I adore with every bit of my heart the character of the fox.

4 stars.

What I found I enjoyed most about this book, are the illustrations. They are really well done and have such a beautiful and carefree feeling to them. Mostly thanks to the use of the colours and the softness of the details. I think im 50/50 about the story. On One hand it seemed to be lacking something. I don't know what, just something. But on the other hand, it teaches little kids that kindness is really its own reward. That giving to others is a very nice thing to do. I loved also that Rabbits friends showed gratitude for being given a wish. I think that's important aswell. I also liked the way this story was written, in rhymes. Its beautifully told and has a very positive message. I would recommend this.

Wish is the story of a very lucky young bunny named Rabbit, who one day is granted not one but three wishes of his choosing. Never having even had one wish at his disposal before, Rabbit wants to do things right so goes one at a time to visit his friends Mouse, Fox, and Bear, asking each for his ideas on what would be a good wish. The results are not only surprising for Rabbit, they also make all his choices so much easier in this charming, beautifully-rendered picture book where even the magic of friendship is stronger than that of a wish. Author Chris Saunders's illustrations are frame-worthy, some of the most beautiful artwork this reader's every seen in kid's literature, the book's message simple but in its way equally profound. A wonderful, touching tale. 5/5 stars

First I have to say that the illustrations in this book were wonderful! They are all very soft, quite magical and the colors are fantastic! The animals themselves are also very adorable! This is a great story about friendship and selflessness and I really enjoyed it. I think the book has a really great message for children about these two topics. The beautiful illustrations along with the lovely, lyrical story was a perfect combination and I certainly believe this would be any excellent book to read with any child. I can't wait to see the final book and look forward to reading what the author writes in the future.

Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for sending me an ARC of this book.

What a beautifully illustrated picture book with an equally wonderful story! Three wishes have landed on Rabbit, but he does not know what to wish for. His friends give him their ideas and when he makes those wishes come true, his unselfish gift ultimately blesses his life as well. Saunders’ book has rhythm and rhyme, offers great opportunity for discussion on values, as well as providing a springboard for writing.

This was a fun story about sharing, written for young kids. The artwork is spectacular and really caught my eye. The story itself is poetic and brings a reader right into the unfolding tale.

The cute rabbit on the cover manages to end up with three wishes and doesn’t quite know what to do with them, and so seeks advice from friends who relate what their own wish would have been. In the end, each of them gets their wish through a very generous lagomorphic donation and they, in turn, share their dream with their friend, so everyone is rewarded. It’s a short, easy read, a fun story, and it’s a story with a message that’s beautifully illustrated by the author. I commend it as a worthy read.

This book was received as an ARC from Quarto Publishing Group - words & pictures in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book is adorable beyond reason and the theme is a powerful message that EVERYONE should consider taking in. The pictures were so cool and so cute and the color scheme chosen for each of the pages was brilliantly selected in capturing the imagery of the story as if we were watching Rabbit and his friends throughout the story and how they loved Rabbit for his wishes and generosity that they all wanted rabbit to share the love with them. I absolutely cried tears of joy when I finished the book.

We will definitely consider adding this title to our Picture Book collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Rabbit earns three wishes. But he doesn’t know what to do with them, so he turns to his friends for advice. Great book about how helping others leads to good things in return. This book is simple and repetitive, but the message goes deeper so that even older children can enjoy the story!

I admit it, I'm a sucker for kids picture books. So when I saw that this one was available to "wish" for, I did and my "wish" was granted!

The cover is just the tip of the iceberg re: the beautiful artwork. It's so delicate and gentle. The colors work well and the storyline is sweet with the rabbit and his friends and his three wishes. I think the artwork is a tad more interesting to me than the story, but it all worked well together.

I think this one would make a great gift. 4 solid stars.

He imagines what he’d do with their wishes.

He grants their wishes, but then he realises that he forgot to find a wish for himself! Oops!

[My Goodreads review includes an illustration of Bear taking Rabbit, Mouse and Fox in his boat through the sky, seeking adventures.]
No matter. Bear has a surprise for him, and he collects Rabbit and the other two friends and off they go to find an adventure!

This is a very pretty children’s picture book told in rhyme. The illustrations are lovely, the rhymes aren’t really up to scratch. I’m someone who enjoys rhymes that actually rhyme and scan or else free verse that doesn’t. I find this an awkward mix that isn’t neither one nor the other.

But it’s a cute book, kids and parents will enjoy it, and I thank NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for a preview copy.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Quarto Publishing Group - words & pictures and Netgalley for my unbiased opinion of the book, I loved the graphics and artwork it was magical. The story touched my heart and it will be an instant classic for many years to come. The story is about a rabbit who only has one wish that can be granted and he goes and talks to all his friends to see what they wish for hoping it will help him decide. This is a must-read for any kid and a great book to give as a gift!

What a beautiful book of friendship and wishes. When Rabbit gets a wish, he doesn't know what to wish for so he asks his friends. They each tell him what they'd wish for but Rabbit thinks "Is this wish for me?" When he finally makes up his mind he makes wishes for his friends, but he's sad when he learns he has no wishes left for himself. Then Rabbit's friends share their wishes with him and he soon realizes his self-less act is rewarded.

Beautiful illustrations and rhymes, any child would love this book. Older kids could get a lot from it as well with its powerful theme.

This was one of the cutest children's books I have read recently. The colors were bright and images captivating. The simplicity of the images also made it easy for the reader to stay focused. I loved how the bunny's scarf flowed through the pages, almost giving the reader a line to follow through the story.

The messages of being selfless, treating others as equals, and inspiring others are well written and clear. This is a great book for young children with a deeper meaning.

Thank you Netgally for Wish. I read it three times. My favorite part of the book are is illustrations. They are soft, gentle and the animals are so innocent and genuine.
This is a touching story about the power of kindness, sharing and friendship. Little Rabbit has never had a wish before but one day he gets not one, but three! Not knowing how best to use his wishes, he asks his friends what they would do if they had a wish. This act prompts Rabbit to give all three wishes to his friends. They are so grateful for his kindness and generosity they share their wishes with him.
While I don’t think this will be a go to book in the library for most young patrons, I feel it definitely has a place for readers ages 0-110.
A beautiful story and gentle message for all in a not so gentle worked.

I cannot review this book without first pointing out the absolutely gorgeous illustrations! The artwork is worthy of being framed, and I think will appeal to most everyone. Now, onto the story itself, this book takes the ideas of wishes as something that chooses the wisher. This idea that wishes can be gifts for us to make, gives an importance to the wish because you are chosen and not everyone gets these guaranteed wishes. When Rabbit gets 3 wishes he asks his friends for ideas on what to wish for, and he ends up giving and getting what they all need in the end. The rhyming verse will appeal to young children. I think this would be a great book to create classroom projects or writing prompts with for slightly older students.

Wish is a terribly cute story about friendship and selflessness. Rabbit stumbles upon 3 wishes, but he isn’t sure what to wish for, so he asks his friends. He grants his friends their wishes, but by the time it’s his turn, all of the wishes are gone.

I loved how selfless Rabbit was as he thought of his friends before himself. The friends show their gratitude to Rabbit and in the end they are all able to share the three wishes together.

The concept was so sweet, the execution even better. I loved the dreamy artwork and poetic writing. This would make a great bedtime story!

Such a wonderful children's book about selflessness!
The bunny ends up granting all of his friends wishes and realizes he used all his wishes. But that's when his friends use what the bunny wished for them together. It's like a whole big pay it forward. I LOVED it.
The illustrations were a wonderful and cute art style.
Highly recommend.

Wish by Chris Saunders is simply a lovely little quick reading book. I enjoyed it as much if not more than the preschooler who read it with me. The illustrations are wistfully done; quite beautiful actually. Dreamily wishful, perfect for the story.

I found the story to be ever so charming. The message of giving away “wishes” or love only to have it returned to you in an even greater way to be appealing. It was somewhat lost on the four-year-old that read with me. No matter, often Winnie the Pooh wisdom is also lost on the young but comes back as they grow older. In the same way, I believe Rabbit’s wisdom will too.

I read many books but this one is a keeper. I would buy it in hard cover and give it as a gift too.

This is a beautifully illustrated book with a good message. The art style and spare text give it a dreamy quality. The very last line of text about going on an adventure is lovely. Kids will enjoy reading this!

Chris Saunders' Wish is a treat for the eyes. The images are magical and carry the love and warmth of the text on every page as you join in on Rabbit's search to find out what he could wish for. The themes of friendship and generosity are woven into the text so that young readers easily identify them, but there is room for exploration and discussion of much more! In the words of a first graders:
"Aww! You need to read it!"
"Rabbit is so sweet!"
"AMAZING pictures!"

This is a story about kindness and friendship. A little rabbit is granted three wishes. When he can’t decide what to wish for, he asks his three friends the mouse, the fox, and the bear what they would wish for. After listening to them, the rabbit decides to grant them their wishes only to notice afterwards that there is no wish left for him. But his friends appreciate his generosity and share their wishes with him.

The story is heartwarming and the language is child friendly and most of the time simple and rhyming. But my favorite part were the pictures. They are gorgeous. I just really enjoyed looking at the pages. The illustrations are colorful and delicate and feel like a bit like magic or like a dream.

The lovely illustrations with cute little animal friends and a generous nature added so much to the book! A bunny gives his three wishes away to his friends but that doesn't leave him with nothing. Cute story

This was so heartwarming and sweet. Dandelion wishes turn into a question of what to wish for and an exploration of others wishes. Rabbit is such a charming character and the rhyme is perfection. We loved this adorable picture book.

When Rabbit is chosen by not just one but three wishes he is unsure what to wish for. He asks his friends what they would wish for and as they tell him he continues to wonder if it's a wish he would make. Once he has asked them he makes wishes for his friend, then realises that there isn't a wish left for him. Will he find a way to have his own wish granted? And how will his friends react when they learn their wishes have come true?

This book is beautifully illustrated and holds a message encouraging you to show kindness and friendship to others and the rewards that can bring.

The illustration of the wish as a floating object, reminded me very much of a dandelion clock and gave the illustrations a magical quality. I also loved how Rabbit's scarf led you through the story as it blew onto the following pages. I found myself following it and wondering where it would end up. As a child that would definitely have kept me intrigued and as a teacher I would be encouraging children to predict where it the story would lead.

The story would be great for reading with young children when introducing rhythm and rhyme and how that can help a story to flow and move along.

All in all, this is a sweet rhyming story. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-galley. All opinions are my own.

Three wishes landed on Rabbit on the day that wishes fly. He isn't sure what to wish for so he asks his friends. Each shares a desire of their hearts. He wishes for the three special things his friends want and then realizes he has no wish left for himself. His friends offer to share the world with him as they explore together.
Delightful story to share with young readers. Introduces dreaming and living in community in a fanciful format they will understand.
Highly detailed illustrations add to the story and support the text.

A sweet story told in rhyme about how to decide what to wish for. Rabbit has caught three wishes and asks his friends what they would wish for to help him decide what he should do. Mouse wants to fly, fox, wants to write stories, and bear wishes he had a boat to explore the ocean. But what will Rabbit wish for? Heartwarming ending with beautiful illustrations.

This is the type of book I would have read to my daughters when they were little girls. The illustrations are so beautiful and the story is fun and "rhymey". My favorite illustration is when the cute little bunny is sitting on the bears shoulders waiting for his surprise and he's peaking under his blindfold. My favorite page was when bunny said, "I wish for the small to feel uplifted and tall . I wish for inspiration to wash over us all. I wish for a world filled with spirit and adventure, that we can enjoy and live in together." Such a great message! What I enjoyed about the story is that the bunny was very unselfish about his wishes and in the end his friends appreciated this and share how the wishes made them happy. Great story to share with little ones with a great message.

An adorable bunny is blessed with three wishes in Chris Saunders’ Wish. Saunders’ sing-song text doesn’t rise above the pedestrian; however, readers will find Saunders’ final message and illustrations so charming and beautiful that they’re unlikely to care.

'Wish' by with words and illustrations by Chris Saunders is a picture book about wishes and kindness.

A bunny receives three wishes. Curious about what should be wished for, bunny consults three animal friends who have very different ideas for what to wish for. Bunny is not sure these are the things that bunny wants, but in an act of generosity helps its friends.

The pictures in this book are really nice. The story is as well. Where it falls down a bit for me is in the attempt to be a rhyming story. The meter just feels awkward coming off my tongue and it kind of ruined the book for me. I did really like the illustrations as well as the message, though.

When Rabbit finds not one, but three wishes given to him, he finds himself unsure as to what to ask for. So what’s a rabbit to do but seek advice from friends.

Mouse has a great suggestion:

"The world is big and I feel so small,
I wish I could fly, and see it all."

As nice as that wish might be, Rabbit determined it really wasn’t a wish meant for him. So off he races to his next friend, Fox. Fox doesn’t hesitate. He wishes he could write stories everyone would admire and grow from. Yet, another wonderful wish, but Rabbit knows it isn’t a wish he’d really want.

So off Rabbit rushes to ask yet another friend, Bear. Bear is sure he would like to explore the sea since he’s already climbed every rock and tree.

Hmm. Well, that didn’t work out too well. Rabbit is now back to his starting point. What will he wish for?

"I wish for the small to feel uplifed and tall.
I wish for inspiration to wash over us all.
I wish for a world filled with spirit and adventure that we can enjoy and live in together."

In this story of love and friendship, what will Rabbit use his three wishes for?

My Thoughts

What Concerned Me: A very small concern, but sometimes it is okay to figure out what you desire and make a wish totally yours without feeling guilty, and maybe that’s just what Rabbit did. (?)

Also, though I’m not a real fan of rhyme (nor an expert), at times this felt a little off.

What I Liked Most: The cover caught my interest immediately. The text is good, but in this case, the illustrations are what brings the text to life.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this ARC.

Chris Saunder’s Wish is rich with lessons on sharing, selflessness, planning, and decision-making, among others. Rabbit, the main character, has a big decision to make, and proceeds to consult each one of his friends before ultimately choosing. The book’s illustrations are stunning (one spread shows Rabbit soaring above mountains draped in clouds in a hot air balloon), and they are the strength of this title. Occasionally, the rhyming feels awkward when read aloud (“Rabbit had never caught a wish before/he could not decide what to wish for”), but the message of this book stands out and will appeal to many ages.

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for the advance copy of this title.

Beautiful graphics! I found the story quite inspiring and promoting friendship and kindness, although at the end I felt like the plot didn't flow clearly to finish the story. I think maybe I was expecting the third person narrator voice to take over and finish the story saying something like "and all the friends went into more adventures together", instead of having one of the characters finish the story with a sentence.

It is a cute and positive book perfect for children to learn kindness and the value of friendship.

At the magical time of year when wishes take flight, Rabbit has the good fortune to catch not one, not two, but three wishes. Never having caught a wish before, he asks his friends for advice on what to wish for.

Mouse would wish to fly, Fox would wish for the power to inspire others by writing stories and Bear’s wish would be to own a boat. Rabbit helps all of them and learns that a good deed can be better than any wish.

If for no other reason, you must check out the absolutely stunning illustrations in this picture book! They perfectly capture the sense of wonder and beauty that the author, Chris Saunders, attempts to convey in the story.

While the rhyme and meter are somewhat clunky and forced at times, this is a cute story about friendship and generosity that will appeal to kids and grown-ups alike.

And did I mention I adore the illustrations??

This books shows the joy you can get from being kind and selfless.Rabbit has a difficult time coming up with his own wish, and goes to others for help. Throughout the journey he learns more about himself. It also helps that the illustrations are beautiful!

Wish by Chris Saunders is a picture book that introduces us to Rabbit, who is gifted three wishes. Unsure how to use them, he visits his friends to see if their wishes might also be ones that resonate with him. He grants each of their wishes before realizing there aren't any left for himself. However, his friends have their own gifts they give in return.

The story is told through rhyming couplets, which are uneven in their effectiveness. The illustrations are the most captivating part of the story, with expansive scenes and soothing colors that complement the words of friendship and generosity.

The Story:
When Rabbit receives three wishes he sets off with a hop and a swish to ask his friends what they’d do with a wish. Mouse, Fox and Bear all know what they’d do with a wish but none of their ideas feel quite right for Rabbit. But then Rabbit does something truly selfless. He grants the wishes of his friends. Will he discover that generosity can be its own wish?

Favourite Spread:
Chris has created a magical atmosphere in this book through his wonderful illustrations which will give children a real sense of wonder. Some spreads are busy while others have few words. But either way, the story moves along at a lovely lyrical pace, with lines repeating through the story so children will know what’s coming next.

Chris has also made clever use of the text to get around the friend’s names not being in rhyme. It works well and doesn’t take you out of the book’s rhythm despite no attempt of making the line rhyme.

The Verdict:
This is a beautifully illustrated, lyrical rhyming story about the power of kindness. It has an almost lullaby quality to it and is a great book to encourage children to share and learn generosity.

There can not be enough h’s after this AHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh. So adorable. This should be a new classic. I can guarantee it will be a favorite at storytime. Rabbit has captured some wishes, and he asks his friends what they would wish for, at the same times asking himself if that is what he should make his wish. The illustrations are the right mix of soft and cute, but not too baby or fuzzy. They are art i would hang on my wall, and while sometimes the story loses it cadence, it doesn’t matter because you are full into the story and the actions taking place.

" Is this wish for me?"

A beautiful and poetic book, full of musicality and rhythm that will delight both children and adults.

Rabbit always dreamed of having a wish granted when it received this grace it did not know what to ask and left in search of suggestions among its friends. But none of its friends' dreams was Rabbit's dream.

I loved the illustrations, especially this scarf that accompanies Rabbit, and the final message of the book.

The is an adorable and touching story about a rabbit who gets chosen by three wishes. He doesn’t know what to wish for so he asks his friends. Follow him as he tries to discover what a wish should be.

The beautiful theme of this book is giving. Once the rabbit finds out what he friends wants, he grants their wishes. He wants them to have the things they wish for. It is a wonderful story to read to children. My five- year-old grandson enjoyed this book and asked me to read it again when we reached the end.

I loved this book. The muted illustrations are outstanding. The figures are almost true to life, with just enough animation to be fun. The bear is my favorite. I also love the bookstore. It makes me want to go there to read!

An immensely cute story about figuring out what your heart desires and friendship.

The style used for the cover art is continued throughout the entire picture book. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and the color palette made me think of spring and fairies.
The meter is slightly unusual, it did click for me, making the story a little quirky, but still sing alongside the pictures. I would recommend you try it out loud a couple of times before you might read it aloud at bedtime because I have the feeling that this one might take a little while to click for some.

I read this when I had an absolutely horrendous time trying to get to sleep. The gentle cadence of the text mixed with the visuals gave me some solace and so I might be slightly biased, but I think this would be a great bedtime story.

A cute bunny is lucky enough to receive three wishes. The problem is that he has no idea what to wish for. He decides to ask his three friends, Fox, Bear and Mouse, what they would wish for and decides to wish for what they wanted. He now has no wishes left for himself. His friends, seeing he has no wishes left, share their bounty with him.

The illustrations in this picture book are delightful and charming. They are done in a pastel palette which gives them a dreamy, fantasy feel. I enjoyed the message about sharing and friendship. It was not overdone, yet still there. I enjoyed the cadence of the text, which made it an easy read. I read this to my granddaughter and although she might not have understood the full message, she really enjoyed the story and the illustrations. A great bedtime story or one to use when teaching about sharing.

Wish by Chris Saunders is a charming, whimsical tale about Rabbit, who has been chosen by not one, but three wishes. He asks several if his friends what they might wish for. In the end, he still isn't sure what he wants so he makes three wishes not for himself, but for all beings, inspired by the wishes of his friends. Later, they each share the gifts of the wishes with Rabbit. A great resource for teaching young readers the value of lovingkindness, and generosity. I read this with my cubs and we all enjoyed it. Highly recommended addition to any young reader's library, and would make a great storytime read.

One day a year, wishes fall from the sky, and three fall on Rabbit! Not knowing what to wish for, he talks with three friends, but does not know if their wishes feel right for him. But he grants their wishes anyway, and feels sad when there is not a wish left for him. This gentle rhyming book flows well, and while adults can see where the text is headed, children will be pleased with the ending. The pictures are superb. The library spread alone makes my heart pitter-patter. This gentle book about kindness and friendship will find a pl;ace on many shelves.

There's just something about children's books that rhyme. They are such a delight and joy to read.
Wish has two or four lines of narrative on (about) every second page. The first two rhyme with one another and the last two rhyme with each other. It's glorious to read aloud as the words just dance off your tongue. I really loving reading rhyming stories! And while the narrative is set-up in a traditional rhyming scheme the illustrations are soft and modern in a way that brings the story to life.
Chris Saunders gives us a story about a bunny/rabbit and his three wishes. As he's unsure what to do with his wishes he asks his friends. Fox obviously has the best wish as it's about writing stories (lol). Each of our three characters that the bunny asks give a different response. Their answers are of course geared towards things they cannot do. I'm betting you can guess the end of this cute little children's story. That's right the bunny grants his friends wishes and only after realizes he's left none for himself. But, as with most children's stories, it's all okay as his friends share their wishes with him.
It's a pretty, cute little story about being generous and sharing. The perfect length for a bedtime story or mid-day nap. I think any child would enjoy this one. But let's face it, none of those things matter as it's all about the rhyming.

What an adorable, delightful, little book! “Wish” is a sweet and lovely tale about generosity and kindness.

When I opened this wonderful book, my first thoughts were that it was so beautifully illustrated. I loved the gentle colours that helped to create a magical illusion where wishes come true and adventures are shared with friends. All of the characters were really adorable and charming as well, especially the fox.

The story itself is a warm and emotional tale about a selfless rabbit and his friends. What would you wish for if you had three wishes?

“Wish” conveys a positive message about the magic of friendship and hope which is a valuable life lesson to take forward.

The wonderfully written, rhythmic text is straight-forward and easy to understand for small ones and it is nicely complemented by the very appropriate, soft and dreamy artwork. This gorgeous book is very well balanced between the story and the message it delivers. I found this book so entertaining and I really appreciated the lovely winsome tale.

“Wish” is a heart-warming story that would be perfect for bedtime or any other time and would make an ideal gift for any child. I would definitely recommend it and I think the book would make a lovely addition to a family library.

This sweet book has charming illustrations. My rating 4.25.

Rabbit is excited to get not just one, but three wishes. He never thought he’d have wishes so he goes to his friends to ask what they would wish for. After hearing each of their choices, he asks “Is this wish for me?” Once he makes his wishes does he regret them or is he happy with his choices?

The illustrations are absolutely charming, and the story is caring. The rhyming is gentle. I like how Rabbit and his friends share their thoughts and encourage each other. I did feel the ending needs elaboration by a parent/adult. The story gives a good opportunity to talk about being careful about choices as well as sharing with others. I can recommend this to parents who would supervise the reading with young children.
