Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this copy of Inside Out Horse by David George Gordon in exchange for an honest review. It publishes September 15, 2020.
I had the help of an 8-year-old horse enthusiast in the reading and reviewing of this book. First off, if you have a Young horse fan in your life, GET THEM THIS BOOK!
The illustrations are so detailed, the tidbits are fascinating for kids and grown-ups alike, and there’s something for everyone to learn! Have you heard of a Hinny before? I hadn’t before reading this book!
As I said before, this book would make an excellent gift for any young horse fan!
It is clear that the author of this title loves horses and wants to share what he knows about them with young people. This illustrated book includes photos and diagrams that detail each of the horse's systems from the dermal to the nervous to the digestive and more.. There are many facts and bits of history included as well.
This book will be loved by kids who want to know about a horse's insides as that is what is featured. For those readers, this book will be a hit.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
"Inside Out Horse" by David George Gordon is for the real horse lovers. If you are wanting a cutesy book about horses for young kids, this isn't the book for you. If you have a real horse lover who wants facts about horses, their bodies and real scientific information, this book is perfect! The graphics are awesome and I feel like this is a great non-fiction book for young readers who love horses.
I received an ARC of "Inside Out Horse" from NetGalley and Quatro Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review.
A great book for any horse lovers. I liked all the little bits of information and the photos. I do think this book will be better in real life but still a great e-read. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Inside Out: Horse is a new book in the Inside Out series of cutaway books for kids. Due out 15th Sept from Quarto on their becker&mayer! kids imprint, it's 16 pages and will be available in hardcover/boardbook format.
This is an interesting fact-filled book about horses based on real anatomy and physiology. The cutaway pictures show horses from the outside inward with each successive layer peeled away to show the interior features very much like "the visible human/frog/cat/pig" type dissection peel-away diagrams. The graphics are very well designed and detailed. The text, which is placed in highlighted sidebars on each page, is well written and understandable. The art is detailed and well rendered.
This would make a great gift for a young biology fan, or library (school or public) use. I noticed new details each time I looked at the interior pages. My educational background is heavy on biology and life sciences and I thought this small book was very very cool.
Four stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
Amazingly informative book! I have a few students who really love horses and horseback riding who will be thrilled to get their hands on this. Rather than a fiction novel about horses, this is a non-fiction which teaches readers young and old about horse anatomy and more! The images are beautiful and help keep children's attention. As a kid I remember reading similar books about dogs, and I'm sure my students will love this just as much. I'll definitely be checking for more books by David George Gordon in the future!
My daughter and I enjoyed this and found it informative! It was a little hard to view electronically so I would recommend a physical copy. The pictures were great and we learned a lot. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.
This is going to be a very popular book. Great photos and information. A sure hit with young customers and horse enthusiast.
I have always loved horses and books so this is one I am glad I requested.
Inside Out Horse shows the more complex processes of what makes a horse so fast, what their eating and digestion processes are, why their hearts are so big, how their hooves have evolved with them throughout history and more.
This is one for horse lovers who enjoy the scientific side of horse development and you will not find breeds and photos of horses. There are diagrams of a horse's anatomy and I think it will appeal to adults and young people.
It will no doubt ignite the curiosity of horse breeders, vets and riders of all ages.
It is well illustrated and short but informative.
Thanks to David George Gordon and publisher for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
