Apparently this is a retelling of a Bible story, but I have to be honest I have never heard this story before.
It was very simply told and would appeal to younger children, especially with the colourful illustrations.

I have read a few books in this series and I was really excited to see that there were a couple of new books being released, this being one of them – and I jumped in to read it the day it arrived on my Kindle!

The book has some wonderful illustrations that bring Arthur, and the main story to life. I really enjoyed this book and it was really good (and I say that as someone who is not at all religious so it does and can appeal to all).

It is 4 stars from me for this one, well written and I loved the way the biblical story was told, in this case it is one of Jesus's parables – highly recommended and can’t wait to read more of Albert’s tales!

I love this parable. It's so well written and presented perfectly!

I love how the illustrations are so well done, so apt for the story and gives the classic art style with perfect colour combinations.

I like the lesson given in the story. I appreciate the fact that the father let his son experience what he needed and learn lessons on his own rather than forcing him to stay or nag day and night.

Well, a lesson for all, young and old. A good story book indeed.

Thank you authors and the publisher for the advance reading copy.

Albert and the Journey Home by Richard Littledale was an engaging retelling of the bible story of the Prodigal Son. This story is narrated by a mouse, Albert, who brings to life this story in a relatable way for young children. Look for other Albert books by this same author! Each page just had a simple sentence or two which makes this Bible story accessible for even the youngest children with shorter attention spans. My almost four year old son was interested and remained engaged throughout the story. He enjoyed finding hidden insects and animals sprinkled throughout the realistic illustrations. I was inspired by the message and reminder that despite how far off the path we may have strayed home is always our safe place. Young children will be taught that Jesus loves them which is an essential element in their growing faith journey. This book would make a nice addition to a library for a young child learning more about Jesus. The images and inspired text will bless their lives and remind them they are loved.

I was provided a free advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review from Net Galley. The opinions shared in this review are my own.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Lion Hudson ltd for the earc to review.

Albert gathers the mice for another important story, as one little mouse was bored of his field life and wanting to be free. His story connects perfectly with the mouse’s feelings.

As a young man wanted to leave home with the money his dad saved for him, he ventures out but soon learns that life isn’t so free, fun or easy. When people want him for his money, it leaves him having to learn a hard lesson.

The illustrations as always are so vibrant and beautiful, with the cute mice in ever part of the story. This biblical series is always a perfect place to start with teaching your children, they learn the stories in bite size pieces and in a fun, engaging and easy to follow way.

I adore reading this series, the stories are beautiful with great lessons, the illustrations always so vibrant and the mice always perfectly adorable.

Albert and the Journey Home is a wonderful retelling of the Parable of the Prodigal Son. The illustrations are beautiful. Albert the Mouse tells the story of the Prodigal Son to his friend Simon because Simon is going through something similar as the Prodigal Son. I enjoyed the way the author put the what Simon, the young mouse listening to the story, was thinking when he was listening to the story. While the story had closure in terms of the Parable, I appreciate how the author allowed Simon to really think about the Parable before he makes decisions about his life. This book would be perfect for a family devotional or a Christian classroom setting. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. This Albert story is a retelling of The Prodigal Son. I've always had a soft spot for this parable. The Albert books are consistently good and I like that they include the book of the Bible where the actual scripture can be found. Perfect for little ones!

How many times you want to escape this mundane life? That's the story of a Simon, a little mouse who wanted to leave home, until Albert stepped in and told him a story. A story we all knew about the second son of a family who left home after asking for his inheritance.

That story made Simon think over his would be journey ahead.

The parable of the lost son was so familiar to us. But told in a storytelling manner with bits and pieces added to set our imagination free, kids can relate well to the problems they might not imagined when they decided to leave home.

Albert the wise mouse is teaching on the parable of the prodigal son. Simon has had enough and wants to leave the nest. Albert tells the parable of the son who wanted the same thing. Many great lessons on gratitude and the love of the father! A easy to understand parable in the eyes of a wise mouse.

A special thank you to Lion Children's Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Another great parable from the Albert series. It was really well told and so usable in terms of opening up the path for discussion. We loved it and I’ll definitely recommend it for use in the classroom.

A wise old mouse living on a farm tells a younger mouse a story about the farmer’s son who left home to have fun in the city.

This is a retelling of the parable of the lost son. The illustrations are gorgeous and it’s a simple, straightforward version of the story but the end is missing. It lacks the acceptable & forgiveness of the father which is the main purpose of the story.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
