Description

With I Can Draw: Wild Animals, young artists can use basic shapes and easy-to-follow, step-by-step projects to draw 15 of their favorite animals.

With 15 fun drawing projects, I Can Draw: Wild Animals is a collection of some of kids’ most loved wild animals. All of the drawings are created with simple shapes that are easy for young artists to make, and the cute illustrations are appealing and approachable to young ones.

The book begins with an introduction to drawing materials and instructions on how to use the book, and then it jumps right into the drawing projects: elephant, lion, bear, deer, hedgehog, whale, panda, badger, tortoise, chimpanzee, giraffe, rhinoceros, tiger, wolf, and zebra. For an elephant:

  • Kids start with a square, add a line, a curved line, and some more straight and curved lines. They are encouraged to keep following along with each step.
  • As they make their way through the steps, all the new pencil marks to make are shown in a different color so it’s easy to know what to draw next.
  • Once they near the end of the project, these young artists will start to see a drawing of an elephant appear on their paper, and all they need to do now is add some color.

Great job!

This is a superb introduction to art, for young artists. The book shows easy to read, step by step lessons, which introduce the reader to art tools, and a description of how to use basic shapes, such as triangle, circle, square and rectangle, in order to draw wild animals easily. My daughter and I have had a lot of fun drawing wild animals from the book, such as elephants and bears. She really loves this series of books, and she gets really excited every time I show her a new book from the series. She has been busy drawing lots of animals from all five of the books that we have so far!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beautiful, clear, and easy to follow step-by-step instructions to help children (and adults) make wonderful creations. I appreciated the variety of animals in one single book. This would be a wonderful addition to any personal or school library.

Let me begin by saying that in addition to showing us how to draw different wild animals, I have personal experience in adding that they're great diversions in an extended power outage, too. Emily Fellah has done a wonderful job bringing art down to the basics for not just children but anyone who is interested in drawing "Wild Animals". Since I live in Alaska where will animals tend to roam at will almost everywhere, including out front yards, I was naturally drawn to this book. I was disappointed not to find instructions for a moose but, hmm, with just a little tweaking of the antlers shown in the illustration creative hands created a passable moose. We'll work on that. In other words, while these instructions are basic, they can also provide the inspiration to tweak and add and create not just slightly different versions of the selected animals but others as well. The tools needed are basic, pencil, paper, eraser, and preferably some colors. Bottom line, this one is a great inspiration for all, even us big kids. Loved it, even if I hope the author will add a moose next time. It should be a hit with all ages and I'm thinking I might even try doing some rock painting with the designs.

Thanks to #NetGalley, #EmilyFellah, and #QuartoPublishingGroup – #WalterFoster for providing such a fun diversion during Alaska's recent wild wind storm with extended power outages.

This was a fun book for my son and I to use together. I’m still not a great at drawing but you could definitely tell what the animals were! And trust me that’s a HUGE improvement!

Really cute book on drawing wild animals such as Elephants, Polar bears, Rhino, Badger, Deer, Lion and more.. It is only a small book of 30 pages, but it certainly has a lot of information and projects to learn from.
Great for kids of all ages, and adults can also get some fun out of this book.
