Description
A former CIA officer, living off the grid, finds himself on the run in the book which forms the basis for the new Disney+ series, starring Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow.
To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big dogs and a grown daughter with a life of her own. But most sixty-year-old widowers don't have multiple drivers' licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country and two Beretta nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run. Now, the toppling of a Middle Eastern government suddenly makes Dan Chase and the stunt he pulled thirty-five years ago as a young hotshot in army intelligence a priority again. Racing across the country and beyond, Chase must reawaken his survival instincts to contend with the history he has spent his adult life trying to escape, coming face-to-face with an army veteran turned agent who plays the game just as he once did.

The Old Man by Thomas Perry is a must read novel.
💭If you love James Bond type of thrillers, this one is definitely for you. I have read no other books by the author in the past, but this one makes me want to change that soon.
An ex government officer, now retired, but living his life simply in plain sight, is now implicated in a chase of life and death. The fast action never ceases in here from the first chapter to the last.
I loved we get to see another side of the main character as well, the one where he is a father and shows how much his daughter means to him.
The chase is unbelievable in some parts, but so well described that I really felt like being next to Dan and going through the same emotions and frustrations.
I can't wait to watch it on the screens now.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley.
