Such a great introduction to empathy for kids. I feel that empathy is a hard topic for kids to learn about and understand, so I thought this handled the topic very well

A children's book that opens the conversation and teaches children about empathy and trust.
I was interested in this book for the soul purpose of what it would teach them now that they are going to school, playdates, parks and being around other kids their own age. This is such a cute book with adorable illustrations that we all enjoyed. Great story, fantastic lessons and a book that kept everyone's attention.

A great tale with a touching message about empathy and friendship. The pictures are wonderful and highly vibrant.
My child aged 5, loved the story and was enthralled by the pictures. They particularly enjoyed the rhymes, which gave them the idea to keep looking for rhymes long after this wonderful narrative had ended.

This is such a lovely children's book! The illustrations were so adorable! The book teaches young children about kindness and empathy which can often be hard for young children to learn and this book does this is such a lovely way.
I recieved an eARC of this book. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.
Baby dragon's sneeze burns down a village! Oh, no!
A really cute story about kindness, empathy, and understanding both sides of the situation before rushing to judgement. Highly recommended for little dragon fans.
A lovely book with colourful eye-catching illustrations. I particularly like the rhyming of the story which gives it a nice rhythm.
This is a very fun book about a dragon who, due to a cold, sneezes and burns down a village. But, through understanding, the villagers and the dragon become best of friends and the ending is happy. The book is delightfully written and illustrated, with rich, vibrant colors and excellent rhymes. It is super cut and super wise and a lot of fun to share with the grandkids.
A baby dragon with a cold is a terrible thing! Will the villagers help him get better or run him out of the kingdom?
This is a very sweet story with gorgeous illustrations. I will be adding to our library's collection as well as my own.
This book was so cute! The moral of the story was told in a lovely way. This book is a terrific addition to little one’s library! They will love the story and the bright colors of the illustrations!
This book was so cute! I loved the premise of a dragon having a cold and the villagers having to problem solve and work together to take care of the sick dragon. The rhyme and cadence also felt natural and flowed well while reading out loud. Would recommend!

Well-done from from start to finish. The illustrations are fun to look at and imagine, they show compassion and sympathy in someone not feeling well. They were just beautiful, and eye-pleasing.
The story is okay. It brings people together, and I really liked that the community worked to find a remedy for the sneeze.
I would gift this and make certain it was in the babysitter's arsenal.
Thank you so much to Author Sheryl Bass, Be Kind Publishing and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Baby dragon is sick and alone, he flies around his town happily, but with one fiery sneeze destroys it all. One brave child finds him in his cave and the town group together to make him better.
Absolutely adorable and so precious, the little dragon was so unwell he was all alone and didn’t know how to stop sneezing fire everywhere. I loved that once the town knew he didn’t burn everything on purpose that they each individually found a way of doing something to help make him better and so in return he helped them.
It’s such a sweet, fun and beautiful story, the illustrations are so stunning to look at and poor Baby dragon with snot dribbling down his little nose, poor thing. I love the colour tones used within the book. All so pretty, you’ll love looking at them.
This is a great fun read, it teaches kindness and care which is important and it’s also just so adorable and fun to read. If you are wanting a cute and easy story to read with your children that they’ll really enjoy I recommend this one.
Aw, this was such a cute book. I love how the bravery of one girl saved the dragon from their illness and from the retaliation of the village. I also love how the village pulls together to help the lonely baby dragon heal, once the young girl passes on the dragon's needs.
I love the illustrations in this book and the rhyming text. Highly recommend this picture book.
I loved the cover and the summary of this book and look forward to reading it, but I could not get the file to load in Kindle or the Netgalley app. I will definitely look for it at my local library!
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
This book brought out the kid in me. It is a heartwarming story about a poor, misunderstood dragon who really just wants some friends. When he catches a cold and accidentally sets the village on fire, the villagers want revenge.
When the villagers get to the dragon's cave, they are told that his actions weren't malicious at all and that he just needs someone to care for him, so they all band together to make him soup and a sweater and help him to get better.
The rhyming in this book was nearly perfect. There were a couple of lines that were a little clunky in their flow, but that was it. The illustration's are like a chef's kiss. They are adorable, bright, and descriptive for the story. I legit said, out loud to an empty car, "Oh my gosh! It's so cute!" when I opened the file to start reading it.
I would not have minded reading this book multiple times to my children when they were younger, and I'm seriously considering buying copies for nieces and nephews for Christmas. 4.9 out of 5 stars.
Wow, this is a fantastic book, which I really loved. I loved the beautiful illustrations in the book, the easy to read, rhyming text, and the story, which had some great lessons in it.
The story is about a big dragon who sneezes, as he has a cold. However, when he sneezes, his fire goes all over the town, burning down buildings. This causes the townspeople to be angry and seek revenge. A little girl comes to see the dragon and when he tells her he is sick, she gets the townspeople to help him. They help him in a lot of sweet ways, which is just so cute and loving. Afterwards, he repays them in his own way for helping him to get well again.
I highly recommend this book, which teaches about forgiveness, teamwork, friendship and empathy. It is so beautiful and heartwarming!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
Absolutely ADORABLE!
I cannot wait to go home and read this to my 6 year old, she's going to love it!
Poor baby dragon has a cold and there isn't anyone to ask for help. Thankfully the townspeople are understanding and all pitch in to help him get well.
Thank you to NetGally and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read and review this book. It's definitely going to make it to our shelves soon!

Edited review!!!!!
The author, Sheryl Bass, sent an email with a PDF of the book and…
It was superb. The rhyming was perfection. I enjoyed how the baby dragon’s sneeze helped bring the community together and how they banded together to learn how to help him feel better. The dragon sweater and fire-proof tissues were such sweet thoughts. I really enjoyed this tale. Dragons are the bees knees!
I was initially unable to read and review this book, as it wouldn’t show up in my NetGalley shelf app. The author reached out with a new link , and I was so glad to be able to read it!
This book is a cute story about a sick young dragon who has no one to take care of him. He accidentally burns a town down sneezing fire on it, and the townspeople are ready to fight him until they realize how ill he is. They then come together to help the young dragon feel better.
The story of friendship, compassion, and working together for a common goal is a great story for young kids to hear. My children enjoyed the rhyming story, the vibrant pictures, and the poor little sick dragon.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this fun read in exchange for my honest opinion!
A sweet story about forgiveness and empathy. Beautiful illustrations and fun-to-read with its rhyming verse. It teaches valuable lessons for kids and adults. Will make a wonderful addition to any home, school, or public library.
Oh! What a lovely story! My 5-year old was so excited for our bed time story tonight, especially because the little dragon had a cold just like him. The illustrations were both vibrant and fun, and you can't help but love our new little friend. I really liked how the villagers worked together to take care of the dragon, instead of being angry by his mistake. A great read for little ones, teaching the importance of kindness and empathy.
Also, loved that I could show him the colouring pages available on the website! He is so excited to colour them for tomorrow's activity.
This is a cute little book...
I love how the community come together to help the Dragon with his sickness
Thank you to Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was so fun! I have an almost two year old who gets a huge kick out of anyone sneezing around him - real or fake. This book was a great read for us. The pictures were well drawn and the story was well thought out. The short amount of text on each page was great and the way everything rhymed was even better (since my son doesn't like anything that doesn't rhyme).
We were able to add our own sound-effects while reading this book, which just enhanced our experience. Definitely recommend this book to anyone with children!
A great book for young children that can help them learn about empathy. The story is another rhyming one so more plus points for that!
The illustrations are bright and really bring the story to life. This would be a lovely story to share with your little one, discussing themes like kindness and feelings like anger.
This easy to read book is filled with lovely illustrations to keep littles engaged in the story as they follow along with baby dragon as the villagers help him to get better from his cold.
This was a fun book. We saw the whole town come together in kindness and help the orphan Baby Dragon, thanks to the brave girl. The illustrations reminded me of Gulliver.
A baby Dragon gets sick and accidentally burns down a village with a sneeze. He quickly writes an apology letter in hopes to mend the relationship with the townspeople.
I really enjoyed the rhyming in this story, along with the bright colored art. Children will love the silliness of a dragon having a cold and wearing a sweater.
I read this to a 6 year old girl, she loved the pictures and felt sorry for the lonely dragon but was glas that the villagers were kind to him. I liked the sentiment of the story, caring for everyone even though they made a mistake. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy
This was adorable! Thank you for the e-arc!
The illustrations were super cute and fit the tone and themes well. The baby dragon and its snot were lovable and I was happy to see it get a happy ending. I never knew snot could be so cute.
I liked the focus on learning empathy, giving people (and dragons) the benefit of the doubt, helping each other, and forgiveness. I think children will get a lot out of it.
Thanks for creating this beautiful book!
Oh em gee! This book! THIS BOOK! The cutest! The most adorable book ever! The drawings are so, so, so pretty! The little dragon is a darling! The story is so, so nice! Everything about this book is just perfect! Everyone loves dragons, right? And this one is super cute. The little (big) green darling hatched all alone and got sick and sneezed. And burned down a village. He felt so sad about it, he did not mean for that to happen. He makes new friends who help him get well and he helps rebuild the village. The story is so, so, so sweet! The text reads as lovely short rhymes, and it makes a perfect bedtime story. Or a perfect story for any moment. I wish there were more, way more cute books like this one.
This was such a cute story that me and my three year and I read. She laughed throughout the story and kept asking me to reread it every time it came to an end.
My daughter loves dragons, so naturally I thought this book would be right up her ally and I wasn’t wrong. She loves this story.
This is a cute story about a baby dragon who has a cold and accidentally causes a fire. When a young girl comes to see him he tells her he is sorry and is sick. It goes on from there on how he is treated. This is a book about caring and forgiveness. The illustrations are so cute you want to cuddle the dragon. This book is in rhyme so good for a story time or bedtime story. After reading this book you will surely smile.
This was an exceedingly sweet picture book. Beautiful illustrations and great rhyming story. My kids were in love! The sweet dragon actually looked so baby like that even my maternal heart went out to the him. It’s a great book to discuss regarding understanding each other, taking up responsibility for caring for someone, second chances and found family. Great book. Definitely recommend
Such a sweet sweet book!! I loved this book because its about helping people and caring for people and/or animals. Asking for help is not an easy thing especially for children. This book helps children understand what and when all is needed and not to feel bad about asking. Perfect book for teaching. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous.
I received a free copy of the book and voluntarily leaving a review
I am a grandmother of two grandchildren that love to read. Finding good wholesome books that have a good message is not always easy these days. This is one of those books and I totally recommend it to everyone. The message show’s community, love, helpfulness, bravery and forgiveness all in one story. When a small town was burned accidentally by a sick, lonely young dragon…a small girl takes it upon herself to find the creature and give him a chance to respond as to why he would do such a thing. She reports back to the towns people and they all get together to help the dragon who just has a terrible cold and no one to help. I am sure your children will like how the story turns out and the illustrations are superb! I appreciate NetGalley allowing me an ARC copy of the book for an honest review.
What a charming book! This is a delightful picture book about dragons, I absolutely love books about these mythical creatures. So, when I saw the title, I knew I wanted to read it.
What happens when a dragon sneezes? Exactly what has happened here. A young dragon has a cold and when he sneezed, he accidentally burned down a village. The people wanted revenge, but one girl is brave enough (or perhaps foolish enough) to enter his cave and ask him why he did what he did. When she finds out he is ill, she tries to help him.
This is a fantastic children's book that teaches kids that there are two sides to every story and that sometimes compassion can go a long way. The illustrations in this book are stunning and perfectly complement the rhyming story and its message of empathy, kindness, and friendship.
A sweet read for younger readers and highly recommended!
* Thank you NetGalley and (publisher) for the opportunity to read this arc. All opinions are my own.
Adored this!
Such a wonderful story with a great message about courage and reaching out, thinking the best of another and second chances. I really enjoyed the musicality of the text, a fun one to read aloud! Also enjoyed the imagination having full reign there! Beautiful illustrations too, including the little details. I think the only thing I might add is perhaps a missed moment to have the two images across the title and author/acknowledgments pages line up in one big landscape image. But doesn’t take away from the story of course, Would love to have this for my wee one’s shelf!
*thank you to Netgalley, Sheryl Bass and BooksGoSocial for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
4.5 stars.
Ohh wow was this close to 5 stars! So close, and I don't give those out easily. What's not to like about this book? Firstly the illustrations themselves need a round of applause because they 100% ticked all the boxes for my favourite type of Illustrations for a book. They are so bright, colourful and had that softness to them.
The story is told in rhythm and also has a couple good messages for children (and also a reminder message for all those adults who still pretend germs don't exist 🤨) The message is, if you feel a sneeze coming, cover your mouth.
I loved the friendliness of the towns people. Helping out a baby dragon when he's ill instead of taking revenge and acting out of anger. They are compassionate and try to see things from the dragons point of view. Which brings us to the second positive message this book has. Don't be quick to judge and act out on anger. I suppose you can also add, being compassionate and try to understand all sides of the story before acting. The town's people realised that their homes were not burned down as a choice, but rather as an unfortunate consequence of having a cold and not covering your mouth when you sneeze.
The baby dragon learned a lesson and they all gained a friend.
I would highly recommend this book as it's both fun to read and look at. So even if your child can't read on their own, the pictures are still great to just look at.
My son loved the book. He liked how the baby dragon got better, and how all the town’s people helped him feel better.
Oh my goodness, the dragon is the sweetest gentle giant!
My favorite kind of children's book is one that is engaging, keeps their attention, but also gently teaches. Baby Dragon's Big Sneeze does an exceptional job at all of those things! Bonus: it has multiple themes that kids can learn from.
Lessons for Kids:
-Second Chances Friendships
-Cover your sneeze
-Talk about your concerns instead of getting angry
-Spreading Kindness
-Empathy
My children (ages 7-4) absolutely loved Baby Dragon and his sweet little story.
Excellent children's book!
Baby Dragon's Big Sneeze is an adorable tale that highlights second chances, empathy and how to take care when ill. My 4 year old right away said that the dragon needs to cover his sneeze! And, she was so relieved that the townspeople came together with understanding and care, to heal the dragon. The illustrations are so charming and the cadence rolls well, highly recommend!
Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for this ARC!
This is a very colorfully illustrated rhyming story about a young orphaned dragon who sets the village on fire when he accidentally sneezes. With the help of a courageous young girl, the village people get together to solve the problem with the dragon in a very satisfying way. The end seemed to come a bit abruptly but I recommend it for the young children in your life.

Description
Help kids learn to give others a chance with this sweet story for kids ages 3-7. When a young dragon accidentally burns down a village with a fiery sneeze, the townspeople are angry.
The dragon fears for his life—until a brave little girl enters his cave and learns that the poor dragon is sick. The unhappy townspeople try to figure out how to calm everyone’s anger, while helping the dragon get well.
This is a perfect addition to every home and school library.
My favorite kind of kids books are the ones that teach , have bright pictures to match the page and can keep your kids attention at the same time. This one checked all the boxes . Such a great story about love, helpfulness, bravery and forgiveness all in one story. A young dragon has a cold and when he sneezed, he accidentally burned down a village. The people got very angry and scared and only wanted revenge. However a little girl went to the dragon's cave and ask him why did he burn down everyone's house. When she finds out he has been abandoned and is very very sick she goes back to town and tells everyone he is very sick and did not mean to burn down everything. So then everyone sets out to help him. My 5 year old loved this story and the beautiful pictures . She said life would be so much better if everyone was like this instead of being angry and mean to others.

My grandkids love dragons, so this book was a perfect fit for them. A young dragon has a cold and what happens when a dragon sneezes? Exactly, he is a fire breathing dragon after all. When he accidentally burns down the village, the people want revenge. Dragon runs off to hide in his cave, scared about what is going to happen to him. One young girl knows dragon needs a chance and a friend. She goes to his cave and asks him what happened, and why he did what he did. When dragon shares that it was an accident and that he is sick, she goes to the townsfolk to get them to help, not hurt him. What happens next shows what friendship, acceptance and care is all about.
This is a wonderful children's picture book that teaches about caring, compassion, friendship and understanding are all about. It is always important to get both sides of the story and find out the other person's point of view. When I read this to my grandkids, we talked about putting ourselves in the dragon's shoes and finding out what happened before making a decision and doing something we might regret. I absolutely loved the illustrations in this books. They are large, vibrant and show a lot of emotion. The text has a nice rhyming cadence so it is easy to read aloud. My oldest grandson loved reading this to his siblings. I recommend this story to teachers trying to teach empathy, caring and acceptance. A great addition to public, school, class and family libraries.
This was super cute. My almost 9-year-old daughter enjoyed this very much. The story is adorable and the illustrations are too.
I enjoy this book as a child therapist because I am always looking for ways to teach the kids on my caseload about advocating for themselves and expressing when they are sick. This is the perfect book for the children on my caseload who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It’s an interactive and fun why for them to learn to new skills
I received an ARC of “Baby Dragon’s Big Sneeze” from NetGalley, BooksGoSocial, and Be-Kind Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
This beautiful picture book was written by Sheryl Bass. The text uses rhyming and, unlike a lot of books, encourages the use of empathy. This is such an important concept for humans to learn. Unfortunately, so many people today lack this basic, nurturing quality.
When I realized that Bass had earned her MSW (Master of Social Work), this made me appreciate the book even more. My own mother earned her MSW LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), and I know how important it is to introduce young children to empathy and other similar concepts. By doing so, kids can grow up to be adults with this quality instilled in them.
The world is a hateful place, but this PB shows young children that, sometimes, when bad things happen, that it’s not always a result of ill intentions, but can be accidental. When the dragon sneezed and burned down the town, it was an accident and the dragon felt remorse. Later, when Mirabelle arrived at his cave, she learned that the dragon was an orphan and was all alone.
What this book does is gives kids positive ideas. For example, after Mirabelle entered the cave, she didn’t try to solve the problem all by herself. Instead, she asked the king for help. By asking for help, Mirabelle quit being alone and got the assistance she needed. This book can help children realize that they themselves can do the same thing. Because of Mirabelle, the dragon not only got the help he needed (comfort, care, and friends), but he even became a participating member of the (human) community.
I can’t say enough how perfect this book is for our day and age. People around the world, and especially here in the US, are really angry. This PB teaches children to think about things first, to not jump to conclusions, and to ask others for help.
The author’s website (Be Kind Publishing) offers several items for kids to explore with their parents. Not only does it have 5 different coloring pages that can be downloaded for kids to color, but t also has a really cool book trailer.
I highly recommend this book not just for kids, but also for their caretakers (parents, grandparents, etc.). A book like this really needs to be made available in libraries in English-speaking countries everywhere.
Baby dragon has a cold and he is all alone, he sneezes and accidentally starts a fire. I love the rhymes and the message about friendship, teamwork, and empathy. This is a beautifully illustrated little book. This sweet story is a great conversation and activity starter. Recommended!
**I received a galley in exchange for review. Opinions are my own.**
Although sometimes the rhythm doesn't quite fit, I still thought this was a cute read.
This book being so cute is unfortunate, because the publisher/author (same people) kept emailing me because I hadn't reviewed it yet -- after I explained that I was homeless/doubling up and didn't have access to decent internet. That really tainted my experience, and so even though this book is cute...I prefer authors not to constantly be contacting me. It felt like an abuse of NetGalley's features and prevented me from wanting to review this book at all.
A single email with a PDF galley since the upload didn't work properly was all it took -- no need to send 10 emails thereafter, sometimes twice within 5 minutes of each other.
This was a sweet little rhyming story with cute illustrations. I found it to be the perfect length, not too long or short, for both of my kids to be interested throughout before becoming preoccupied with something else (as is the way with young kids).
We really enjoyed this story and we’re able to pick out some rhyming words. The beautiful illustrations provided us with more discussion points too. A great book for youngsters about being friendly and caring for others.
My son thought this was such a cute story. He felt so bad for baby dragon having a cold because he knows how it feels to be miserable and didn't like that the people were mad at him at first! haha. I would definitely recommend this cute story to parents of young ones they will get a kick out of it!
This is a fantastic book, which teaches about forgiveness, teamwork, friendship and empathy.
The story is about a baby dragon who sneezes because he has a cold and accidentally burns down buildings troughout the town. This causes the townspeople to be angry and seek revenge, until alittle girl comes to see the dragon and when he tells her he is sick, she gets the townspeople to help him. They help him in a lot of sweet ways, which is just so cute and loving. Afterwards, he repays them in his own way for helping him to get well again.
I highly recommend this book, It is so beautiful and heartwarming!
Baby Dragon's Big Sneeze is the delightful tale of what happens when a small, lonely Dragon gets sick, and accidentally burns down several houses as a result of an inopportune sneeze.
Unfortunately, the Dragon hatched by himself in a cave and has no parents to look after him. So when the villagers become angry at what they perceive to be wanton destruction on his part, it's lucky that a little girl goes to find out why he would do something so dreadful.
After the Dragon has explained the problem to her, they are able - through compassion and mutual support - to come up with a solution that works for everyone.
I love that this little book also does a great job of telling the story in rhyme - something that is often attempted, without taking sufficient care, by children's story writers. This is a creative and heartwarming tale with cute illustrations that children belonging to the target age group will love.
This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters and feel theirs struggles.
I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was.
I will definitely recommend!
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy
We loved this a great story and the pictures were great too. My daughter really loved the dragon and how all the village came together to help him, it was a really good message behind the story.
Thank you netgalley for the e-ARC.
I read this with my 2 and 3 year olds who enjoyed it very much as they are currently obsessed with dragons and dinosaurs. They were very sad that the poor dragon didn't have his mummy or daddy with him.
This is a very sweet story about a poorly dragon who sneezes and accidentally destroys a town. It ends with the townspeople helping the dragon get better, him helping them get better and remaining with them as friends.
My son said he really liked the book and that the dragon was very cute. Very fitting as he has a cold right now
What a wonderful little tale of how anyone can be friends and help each other. This was a great story my littles were eager to hear. We loved the flowing rhymes and heartwarming story. The story shows how we can be misunderstood and when we communicate wonderful things can happen. Amazing writing and beautiful illustrations complete this adorable story.
I highly recommend this to any parent or early childhood teacher.
The Little Dragon didn’t mean to burn their houses, but he was sick and couldn’t control his sneezing, which caused a chaotic situation. He didn’t know what to do to make amends. It would take a brave little soul to find out the reason why. This story showed empathy and the love of friendship.
Such a cute story about misunderstandings and teamwork. The illustrations were gorgeous and kept my toddler entertained. So much details were put into the illustrations that it offered several conversations with my toddler. He immediately asked to read this book again!
Me and my children read this book. With all the characters within. It's about a baby dragon that gets sick and sneeze fire into a village while flying. He did mean to do this and want to find a way to get healthy so that he can help the village to rebuild their homes.
This was a fun story to read. It had action and drama throughout. There were a few giggles within. The illustrations went well with the story and were colorful.
