I love collecting good quality books about holidays that are celebrated around the world. This will be a valuable read aloud and resource with lots of information for Lunar New Year. I can't wait to add this to my home and classroom libraries!
An amazing and fun way to learn about the Chinese/Lunar New Year. I personally learned things I never knew. Beautiful illustrations and a personal story for one family, makes this a great book for anyone.
I loved this little book, I learnt a lot from it about Chinese culture & their new year traditions. I love the sense of family & tradition, it's so homely & fun. This story is told in a fun & engaging way - great for kids! The pictures are really pretty too, I love the depth to them - there's so much to see.
Great book about the Lunar New year with activities to include during storytime and class celebrations.
A cute book that teaches about the lunar new year! Ling is the main character and talks about how her family celebrates. The illustrations are great, plus there are activities at the end for kids. Very cute!
I learned so much from this book! My daughter is a bit too young for all the information, but she loved the pictures and I will definitely be able to share this with her when she’s older! I loved how there were instructions at the end of the book as well!
More like "Factivity" ~filled with fun, facts and activities.
Natasha Yim's, "Lunar New Year," is a remarkable picture book which educates the readers about the chinese culture and religion in the most comprehensive manner.
With the support of the beautiful illustrations, this book makes any reader to engage into reading!
This book contains a storyline of a girl describing how the lunar year is celebrated. Along with that, the book also includes:
1. A chart of Chinese zodiac and lunar calendar,
2. A delicious recipe,
3. Greetings in few languages such as Cantonese and Mandarin,
4. Brief history of the Chinese New Year.
5. Fun activities such as riddle creating and a craft.
6. Lastly, a fun pop quiz.
It is a perfect informational picture book to educate anyone of any age. Ideal for ages 4 and up.
An absolute feast for the eyes! The illustrations were gorgeous. Come learn all about the Lunar New Year in this adorable children's picture book!
Excellent coverage of The Lunar New Year, a true gap in the market for teaching young children without the stereotypical label of Chinese New Year, I loved the links to countries around the world that also celebrate. I would definitely purchase this to use in my classroom, as would the other 3 EYFS classes and beyond
A very beautiful children's book about the Lunar New Year!
Though this particular story takes place in China, it also acknowledges that the Lunar New Year is also celebrated in other places.
It is divided into three part, the first part being the story of a little girl getting everything ready with her family to celebrate, and explaining the different traditions.
A second part gives some more information about the festival of the Lunar New Year, such as its history and some greetings, while the third part gives some activities to do, crafts, and cooking recipes.
It is a lovely and inclusive book, filled with colourful and amazing illustrations!
Very nice narrative book of Lunar New Year with details of tradition and colorful activities. This will be a great introduction book for elementary school ages students about what people do during Lunar New year.
Lunar New Year is a fantastic picture book about the lunar new year. It has a perfect balance of information without being too information or fact-heavy. The pictures are beautiful and add so much understanding and depth to the writing. I love the extra activities and depth at the end as well. This is a must-have in any kid's or school's picture book collection. I even think it would be a fantastic addition to our high school library to introduce students to the holiday. Highly, highly recommend! It's definitely the best book on the lunar new year I've read yet and one of the best on any holiday that I've read.
