I devoured this cookbook in just a few days! I was really impressed with the author's organization of the various recipes included in this cookbook, ranging from breakfast to lunch and dessert recipes. There are literally a ton of recipes included by the author (more than 200 of them!), and almost all of the recipes featured in this cookbook are super healthy, which also impressed me. It can be relatively difficult to find healthy yet delicious recipes that are both easy and convenient to make. These recipes require few ingredients and I have already tried out some of the smoothie ones and I have loved everything I have made so far. I also think this cookbook is beginner friendly and will appeal to many people looking for quick and easy recipes they can make with their kids and other family members. I am excited to make even more recipes from this cookbook in the future!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This family cookbook has beautiful, vibrant pictures to go along with recipes that sound absolutely delicious! The instructions are easy to follow, and the ingredients are things you could find at any grocery store. I love the format of the book. It has sections for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts, and each section has pages that spotlight a type of food or a superfood. There are paragraphs discussing food science that would be very interesting to elementary school kids. And I love how many variations there are, like the page about oatmeal toppings or the section on grain bowls. This is a cookbook I will gladly purchase and use to begin teaching my 7 year old about cooking!
Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Very nice family cookbook. The recipes look easy to make with kids and the photos look pretty good. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner and desserts. It’s a colorful book, easy to read and to follow. There are also tips at the end teaching hot to chop vegetables and more. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
The Chop Chop Family Cookbook is a great addition for busy families looking to change up their routine. There are a wide range of recipes (simple to complex) which means that there really is something for everyone in this book. These recipes focus on whole food options and offer healthy substitutions and alternatives to traditional offerings. Highly recommended (and I even got my 4 year old to eat spinach using the Monster Smoothie)!
We loved this family cookbook in our household! I read it from cover to cover and picked out a couple of items to make including the Monster Smoothie, Morning Rice Pudding, Shakshuka, and Rice Cake Granola Bars. I’ve also earmarked a couple of recipes to try soon like the Oven “Fried” Chicken (yuuumm!). The recipes we’ve tried so far are fun and tasty with straightforward recipes to follow.
My favourite part of the family cookbook is all the explanations, definitions and tips and tricks that are written specifically for young readers learning to cook. Having straightforward definitions with pictures to describe the difference between things like chopped and diced is so important and a cooking fundamental. And as a mom trying to teach my kiddo about healthy food options, it was nice to see some food nutritious tips such as explaining the benefits of bananas versus oranges and why we should eat both for nutritious balance :).
I look forward to snagging a copy when it releases in March 2023, and I can’t wait to try out a few more of the recipes before then with my sneak peak copy!
Thanks NetGalley, Sally Sampson and the publishers for an advanced copy to review and provide my feedback on.
What a fantastic book to use with / alongside children to teach them how to cook a range of simple, yet tasty, meals in the kitchen. It has very clear and simple instructions to help guide you through through each dish, with child-friendly tips along the way. This treasure of a book will help build a child’s confidence in the kitchen, giving them a love for cooking early on. The book itself is bright and vibrant, with mouth-wateringly good accompanying recipe photos.. I also love the wide variety of family favourite dishes in here - there’s definitely something for everyone, but with a healthy twist and an emphasis on nutrition. It covers everything, from starters snacks, to mains and desserts. Fabulous cook book!
Thank you to Storey Publishing and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.
Oh my lanta. I love this book. I have food allergies. My family is picky. And there is something for everyone here. I love getting my kids involved in cooking. I find it helps them want to try different foods. This book talks about the ingredients and how to slice and dice. It even talks about why salad wilts and avocado turns brown. It's family and science and cooking and I love it. That pumpkin pie smoothie is the joy of my day. My son wants to tell everyone about the food in his lunch and how he made it. I am so happy to have found this book. I want to try all the recipes. Thank you so much. If you have kids, or picky partners, this book is for you.
Terrific cookbook that teaches kitchen skills with tasty recipes. There are lots of helpful pictures. Great instructions that will empower kids and adults alike to make tasty meals for themselves or with their family.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of "The ChopChop Family Cookbook" by Sally Sampson. This was such a fun, exciting cookbook to read through! I love the formatting, the font, the colorful pictures - it made every recipe jump off the page and I grew super hungry as a result. I like that the recipes are a mix of no-frills basics with some fancier recipes to try as well. A lot of the recipes a kid-friendly too, which sometimes you don't find in a regular cookbook. This truly was a "family" recipe collection.
Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the digital ARC!
This was a great cookbook to look through and it had so many recipes to choose from. There were lots of pictures of what the different foods looked like, which is always nice. They also would put in pages with special facts about different foods, such as bananas and onions, or pages with different customization options for a recipe.
The recipes themselves were easy to follow and I think older kids could follow them with the help of an adult. Most of the recipes had a healthier focus to encourage kids to eat healthier foods.
Many of the recipes also had tips for substitutions or ingredients to mix in or add on top of the recipe. Some of these tips even offered encouragement to learn to live since if the ingredients in the recipes, like mushrooms or anchovies. Towards the back, there was even a section with kitchen how-to skills that went over things like cooking and draining pasta or cracking eggs.
Overall, this is a great family cookbook that parents can use with their children to teach them how to prepare and cook food.
This cookbook was great! I'm thinking of buying for myself and really hope something like it comes in Swedish, as well, so I can share it with my kids. The book has some great parts, teaching kids the important things in cooking, as well as safety while cooking.
It's packed with information, but in a way that's easy to process. Among the delicious looking recipes, which also are easy to read, there are easy nutrition facts, comparisons and tips and tricks. The recipes vary from simple to more complex.
Definitely a favorite.

Great recipes! I've cooked some of them and they were all very tasty! Go and buy this book if you love to cook!
Whilst I don’t have kids, this cookbook was still fantastic, looking forward to trying some of the recipes. This would also be quite a good book for a person going to uni, because it shows you the basics.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Excellent family cookbook with a colorful and fun layout, simple recipes, and clear instructions. Great for older elementary or middle grade kids that want to cook without the childish treatment of juvenile cookbooks or the complexity of traditional cookbooks.
This was a good cookbook. I thought it was full of some really great cooking tips as well nutrition information that I felt was really valuable and interesting. I made a couple of recipes and they were all great. I look forward to grabbing a copy when this one comes out in March.
A lovely family recipe book. Recipes feature a diverse range of foods, (many of which would be considered 'healthy'), but it doesn't focus on calories or (in my opinion), any other potentially contentious material in the minefield that is promoting nutrition and healthy mindsets around food in our children and young people.
The recipes themselves looks great, and don't feature difficulty to source ingredients (always a selling point in my opinion!). They are also simple enough to really allow kids to take control in the kitchen (adult guidance is encouraged for any methods where there could be safety considerations).
Adults will be pleased that the recipes are not particularly childish, this is very much a book that will keep whole families satisfied. There are lots of vegetarian options, but meat and fish are also featured. The book is educational too, with 'lets talk about..(insert a variety of foods) section at various appropriate points, in addition to a lengthy and thorough introduction..
The book is organised in a logical way, with 5 sections: breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner and desserts. I tested the recipe for 'Skillet DElote' (Mexican Street Corn), its was easy to follow, simple to prepare, and SO delicious that I have made it everyday for the past 2 weeks!
Overall this is a family cookbook that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
This cook book offering is over the top! While geared as a family cook book to introduce and encourage younger kids to cook, the recipes and resources offered here make it perfect for any age or kitchen. Packed with great full color images, snippets of nutrition information, international ingredients and recipes, and my personal favorite, simple yet tasty variations on recipes from breakfast sandwiches, to egg salad, to so much more. I’ll be adding this to my library’s collection as well as my own personal cook book collection. Thank you to the author and publisher for the chance to sample and review this as an ARC.
It has been proven over and over that, if your kids cook with you, they are more likely to eat what you have cooked. There are some seriously yummy and family-friendly recipes in here that will get you into the kitchen and having meals that do not incite wars, threats and tears.
The recipes are easy to do and don't cost a lot which is a major bonus these days: many of our clientele have to decide between shelter and food and what is more important. Scary, but true. I will highly recommend this book far and wide.

I love this cookbook! There are so many recipes that I can see making with my family - healthy, simple and delicious. I will certainly look into purchasing a copy for my recipe shelf!
Exactly how a child should learn to cook - The ChopChop Family Cookbook is a culinary journey highlighting food facts and nutrition, offering up the how and the why for making delicious food. One of the most extraordinary features is the multicultural approach to the selection of recipes and accompanying photos. This is a handshake across the globe, tagging in one type of cooking and then another, but all in approachable pathways to meals and treats children will ask for again and again. I loved the sidebars and facts, like a comparison of the nutritional value of oranges and bananas. This collection of recipes, traditions, prep skills, and planning sets the stage for a healthy future for children and an appreciation for cooking across cultures. I plan on giving this as a gift, along with ChopChop magazine, to many children in my life.
Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for this free eARC.
I am always in search of interesting and fun recipes I can get my kids involved with and this cookbook is just the one.
Plenty of recipes for each meal, simply described and nicely photographed.
Most recipes are good all year round, and since I'm not from the US I really appreciate it.
The best cookbook for kids I’ve ever seen. There are appealing pictures of almost every recipe.
Something for everyone here in meal categories breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner and dessert.
There are helpful variation charts such as a “Sandwich Mix and Match” chart and “Customize your Quesadilla” suggestions to personalize the recipes to your child’s tastes. The focus on nutrition that is presented in fun facts and pictures is so important to teach children early on. As a former food and nutrition teacher, I found this book to be an essential contribution to teaching children healthy food habits. In the introduction, cooking is highly recommended to be a family activity and the book gives several valid reasons why this is beneficial to children. “The extra time you spend with your kids in the kitchen is an investment”. I’ll be buying three copies, one for each of my grandchildren’s homes and one to keep for when they are at my home. I had already subscribed to Chopchop’s excellent magazine.
Thanks to the Storey Publishing and ChopChop for the advanced review copy.
This is a great cookbook with great and delicious-looking recipes that I will definitely be trying out when my kitchen is done!
This has so many good, healthy ideas. There's a nice variety of food from different cultures. It has directions for substitutions for cookware and ingredients. It has nutritional info of certain ingredients like bananas vs oranges. It talks about involving kids in the kitchen. Most of it is pretty simple but some are a bit more complex. It includes basic cooking info like how to cook beans and chop certain produce. There's measurements like basic conversions as well as vegetable cups to pounds. It's pretty jam packed with info. A great cookbook for families or beginners. Or anyone who wants simple, healthy meals.
This book is amazing!! So many ideas and beautiful illustrations! Lot of options if you don't eat eggs or are vegetarian for example. I have so many to try and I love to cook with my daughter!
