A really fun story loved the colours of the pictures. My daughter loved this too she loves mermaids so was a definite win for her.
Mellie is a mermaid. But she's not just any mermaid in this bright and beautiful book by Anna Finch. Nope. Mellie's a mermaid who isn't afraid of anything.
Mellie's parents urge her to be careful when she announces her plans to explore an old ship. Mellie swims through the deep blue around jellyfish and coral and snapping clams, turtles and eels. She's not afraid. Not even when the old ship begins to creak and crack. Then a "big, toothy shark" appears, and... Well. Mellie swims to where it's safe: at home with her loved ones.
This is a sweet and endearing read. The brief and easy-to-read text combines with beautiful color illustrations to captivate and engage young ones. It's sure to be a winner with its target audience of children ages three to five and those who love them.
Thank you to Finch Press giving me an opportunity to review an advanced copy of a children’s book! Award winning author Anna Finch has created a beautiful book that will help children (and adults too!) in this post-COVID world. So many people have developed social anxiety from our past pandemic (and prior to that as well). Millie the Mermaid navigates the sea-world outside her home with bravery, and also learns a lesson in being careful, while still enjoying new experiences. I would 100% read this story to my grandchild, and am honored to voluntarily give this honest review for a wonderful children’s book! #MellietheMermaidIsNOTScaredofANYTHING #NetGalley
SUPER CUTE! Not only are the illustrations adorable but the storyline is sweet! Mellie is trying to be brave and learn how to swim into the deep deep blue sea and realizes she wants to be back with her family where she feels most safe! Super sweet book that I would love to recommend to anyone with small children!
This is a wonderful book for young readers. Well written for beginner readers with rhyming words to help engage beginner readers and help them identify words more easily..
And a great storyline about being brave and being afraid are both okay, but being safe is always best.
This is a beautifully illustrated book about Mellie the Mermaid. I love the simple rhymes and it is fun to read aloud. Be adventurous and also be safe. This book is a nice opening for discussion. Recommended!
Millie reminds me of the Little Mermaid. Her parents keep telling her to becareful when wandering around the ocean floor. After many incounters with various fish and objects Millie decides she is not afraid of anything. Millie then faces a shark and swims all the way back to her home to her parents where they mentioned they thought she was not afraid of anything. Millie learns that she can wander wherever she pleases but can always come back to her parents for comfort when she’s scared. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback!
Mellie is told by her Dad to be careful when she swims off into the deep, blue sea, but she is not scared of anything, or so she thinks! She isn’t scared of shipwrecks, or little fish. Even stinging and biting creatures don’t worry her. She finds a blue octopus interesting, and enjoys seeing the coral. However, what will Mellie do when she sees something that really does frighten her?
Children will love this book with its beautiful illustrations, and fun but educational story. What could be better than a mermaid having adventures?
I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
