I am so used to mothers yanking out pouches and jars as they are too lazy to cook or puree their meals for their kids so am fascinated by a dear friend who is doing baby-led-weaning. Mia eats what her parents eat, although sometimes in a different, softer format and she is a good eater…I swear that she eats better than I do. Her favourites are scrambled eggs (cut into strips that she chews), strips of plain chicken, avocado, blueberries, and smoothies made with veggies and toast and if you give her a pouch, she will throw it back at you! (Atta girl!) The fellow 29 daycare children at her place? None were baby-led weaning, and the other mothers are amazed at her appetite and abilities!
This can keep your baby in soft food, pureed foods or foods cut down in size to make it easy for them to eat (pancakes for one) – even I would possibly drink the smoothies and I hate smoothies (it’s a texture thing). The book is definitely worth a try to get feeding time not to be a battle…remember mothers, YOU ARE IN CHARGE AND YOU DO NOT RUN A RESTAURANT. Keep it that way or you will be making 3 different meals for 3 kids at a time like my one SIL does…don’t say “What do you want for dinner?” – give them dinner and make them eat it…generations were raised that way and your wee snowflakes will survive with the help of this book.
