Amelia and Friends: Global Adventures by Matthew Kendal is a whimsical picture book with a fantastical invention by a young girl's father. Amelia was given a gift of her choice because she had worked hard in school. Her choice was not one fish but a whole aquarium full of fish! Amelia is a good pet owner who properly cares for her fish and tells the reader about each kind. When Amelia's dad is chosen to go around the world for his work and take his family with him, Amelia is excited but worries about leaving her fish. Dad comes up with a fascinating solution to the problem. Amelia's delight in all aspects of her journey is evident. I was disappointed that the book did not relate anything about the travel destination, but it seems Kendal intends to write a children's global travel series. I hope he does because this book is fun, and Amelia is an engaging, curious girl.
