Description

Meet Romilly Greene, people pleaser extraordinaire, loving and dutiful wife, mother, sister and daughter, always putting everyone else’s needs before her own. But the truth is she feels trapped and unfulfilled. When the cracks in her marriage begin to show, she and her daughters Elise and Summer run away from it all to the picturesque village of Melstock, the place of her idyllic childhood holidays.

They are soon welcomed into the heart of the community by a host of quirky characters, notably Mark Whittaker, the disturbingly attractive owner of the local country estate. Trouble is brewing quite literally however as the future of Melstock’s historic coffee factory comes under threat, Summer’s teacher, the cute and brooding Henry Barton seems to have taken her in violent dislike, Elise is bullied at secondary school and there appears to be no escape from Romilly’s husband and his hideous mother.

Will Romilly ever manage to put herself first for once and rediscover her own identity, whilst juggling single parenting and attempting to recapture the lost tatters of her love life? Or will she settle for familiarity and security above all else?

And can we ever really run away from it all?

For the Love of Coffee is for those of us who dream of something better and are not quite sure what that might be. The story celebrates the joy of belonging to a community and the importance of those precious shiny small things in life such as the perfect freshly brewed cup of coffee.

Meet Romilly Greene, people pleaser extraordinaire, loving and dutiful wife, mother, sister and daughter, always putting everyone else’s needs before her own. But the truth is she feels trapped and...

I am going to do another review on Goodreads tomorrow but as I’ve just finished it I wanted to write one on here while all the feelings are fresh.

I would like to say I throughly enjoyed this book. The fact she didn’t fall madly in love with the first guy she saw in the new town was such a nice change of pace and I found it extremely refreshing that it wasn’t until halfway through the book that was open to possibility of liking the teacher (obviously the better choice), especially as Mark was introduced as the guy who was going to sweep her off of her feet.

I also want to say how much I love the representation between her and her kids. The genuine love and care she has for them is so heartwarming to read, especially in chapter 6 when she was reminiscing about them when they were small and the leisure centre. I haven’t really read a book before which has that sheer love represented so throughly of the love that a parent has for her kids, and that this wasn’t solely about her finding a new man.

I will say I was initially drawn in by the cover and the title (as i’m a big coffee lover), and I am really glad I got to read this.

What better way to draw someone in than romance and coffee?! Not only that but such a cozy small town countryside feel. Although I love a romance book, I loved the relationship between Romilly and her daughter even more - it reminded me a lot of the relationships between my mom and us three girls. A romance book with a more mature main female character (single mom with kids etc) is refreshing. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for that snuggle up with a book and a warm drink kind of mood

Thank you NetGalley and Fiona Woodifield for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say, what a clever wordplay in the title.

For the Love of Coffee is a sweet, cozy comfort read set in a countryside. Romilly and her daughters were the heart of this books. They carried it on their for real. The romance was just a bonus to be honest. I enjoyed reading about Romilly and her daughters more.

Romilly is dreaming of something better but is not quite sure what that might be. All she knows is that remaining in her marriage is not where she wants to be. She decides to take her two daughters and run away from it all.

Finding a safe haven in Melstock, her childhood holiday place, she tries to create a new life. She lands a job at the coffee factory where she rather quickly suggests improvements to their marketing and profitability, but it turns out that the owners are adamant on selling.

Mark Whittaker, the rather two-faced and abrupt owner of the local country estate and all-round in charge of the area, takes an interest in Romilly in his own eccentric ways.

In typical family life, one of the daughters is being bullied at school and the other one has a teacher who's downright hostile to Romilly. Navigating all the new challenges, including her ex who keeps popping up, Romilly has plenty on her plate.

This is a feel-good story with a HEA for all of those who love close-knit communities and second chances.

I had a wonderful time reading this joyful but also heartfelt story. I was gripped from the start and continued until the end, I have to admit that I had several cups of coffee while reading.
It is a perfect cozy story for a day just like today, rainy and cold.to curl up on the sofa under warm blankets and just read.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC
Brew yourself a cup of coffee before you sit down with this book, because that is all you will be thinking about.
I found this story very relatable. Romilly is a bit of a people pleaser, who when her marriage falls apart, takes her two daughters and runs off to a cute little village to start her new life.
The relationship between Romilly and her daughters was beautiful, and the love story wasn’t forced. There was more than one love interest, which made it less predictable.
The village of Melstock is everything you want in a cozy smalltown romance, including a cast of characters that you will fall in love with

I confess - the opening pages had me a bit thrown - who are these women? Where are they going? WHY all the drama?

Thankfully, I am not one to make snap judgments, and I stuck with the story a few more pages - and Fiona Woodifield totally sucked me in.

If you are a fan of feel-good stories (and I HATE it when a book is described as a "feel-good", by the way), of stories of women rediscovering themselves, of found family - this is the book for you. Romilly Greene is a more common character than one might think, and I feel like a lot of women will relate to her - and take heart in her bravery to walk away and start over. (Albeit, she gets a lot of help from a very plucky community.)

A delightful read despite the much more serious underlying topic of her gaslighting, emotionally manipulative husband.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

A single mom learning to find herself after a move to a small countryside town with her two daughters is often enough to grip me but this story had so many other wonderful elements: the enemies-to-lovers trope, the lovely, older gentleman who captures the readers hearts, and of course my favourite beverage: COFFEE!

I loved this book and devoured it in approximately 2 days.

I just love the title and the cover of this book and enjoyed reading it as well. Romilly is a great character and one we can all relate to in one way or another. This is a story of change, life, community and so much more.

An easy to read book that I devoured in a day. Set in a cosy, small town with numerous characters that you get to know which was fun. This is a heart-warming, fun, entertaining and very enjoyable read. Well written, great story and just an overall great read. 4 1/2 stars from me.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
