Description

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘The Amalfi coast setting, the handsome grumpy Italian, this book has it all!!’

Lia Bathurst had always dreamed of escaping to the white sandy beaches and turquoise blue seas of the Amalfi coast – but that dream hadn’t included meeting her real father. A father she had never even known about until a few weeks ago! Yet here she was, standing outside the gates of a gorgeous pink villa being refused entry by the insufferable – and insufferably handsome – Raphael Knight, her father’s business manager.

When an old black and white photo proves Lia’s claim to be true, Raph is determined to make sure this stranger, with her long caramel waves and infectious smile, doesn’t have an ulterior motive. Even if that means not letting her out of his sight.

As temperatures rise, and not just from the heat of the Mediterranean sun, could Lia and Raph’s forced proximity lead to something more like… amore?

I am not sure what a "proper" book is. As an avid reader I have read many and to me they are all "proper" books. This was a truly wonderful read. I was captivated from the very beginning following Emily's journey with her cafe in Essendale in Yorkshire. Beautifully written story of love and friendship.

Another brilliant book by Julie Caplin, she really never fails to disappoint and I read this at every opportunity I had. One of the things I love about Julie’s writing is how descriptive she is and carries me to whichever country the book is set in. Things like ‘down towards the water, an azure blue that merged with the seamless edge where sky and sea met took me to the beach in Italy where this book is set (Italy not a beach!) and absorbing me into the culture with descriptions of lemons and pasta dishes and as normal with Julie’s books mouthwatering food.
Amongst this however is the story of Lia who suddenly finds out the person who she calls Dad is not her biological Dad. Lia is angry and hurt and unsure where she truly belongs so goes to Italy not only to seek inspiration for her art work but to also meet her biological Dad, who is a famous Actor. Her motives are questioned by her Dad Ernesto’s step son Raph who doesn’t trust Lia as he is used to people making the claims of this nature however he is also attracted to Lia and soon the sparks fly between them.
All of the characters belonged in the book and had a part to play and I felt I was part of the Salvatore family, being welcomed into their home with good food, warmth and humour.
Food, romance and stunning coastline of Italy, my favourite things brought together as part of a fantastic story which is a great read for anyone wanting a proper book with pure escapism.
Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins for a free copy of this book, with all opinions completely my own.

Loved the setting for this book - Positano and the descriptions were such that I felt I was there, in person, enjoying the Amalfi coast.

Lia is an artist and has come to the Amalfi coast to try to meet her father and to seek inspiration for her next commission. She has only recently found out that the man she thought was her father is not and that her father is a famous film star! Her main issue is getting to the man himself but his Executive Assistant (Raph) seems hell bent on keeping her away from him as he believes she is yet another fake trying to stake a claim.

Will Lia meet her father and will she be able to convince Raph she wants nothing from her father other to get to know him?

Loved this book. Julie Caplin has a talent for writing that makes you feel as though you are there immersed in the smells, sights and sounds of the location.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Just dreamy!!

The Amalfi coast setting, the handsome grumpy Italian, this book has it all!!
Lia is a fiery, determined heroine who doesn't let a shocking revelation deter her from her passion.
Raph is the perfect broody hero who doubts her every move!

I really loved all of the details in this book and learning more about textile art- which I knew nothing about!

The villa sounds incredible and I would J jump at the chance to go there! Another smash hit from Julie, can't wait for the next one!
