Wow wow wow what a fantastic book I was hooked from the first few pages.
The story was just so gripping and I really did not know what was going to happen which is a sign of a well written book. It was full of twists and turns and I just didn’t know what was going to happen next.
I really felt for some of the characters and how decisions they had made had impacted their lives. I also loved the way some of the characters were linked. They were all so complex and intriguing.
A fantastic 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley, Jane Corry and Penguin Random House for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review,
I love Jane Corey’s books and this one was no exception.
Three main characters tell the story, with their lives all seemingly affected by one accident that changed a number of lives.
Janie White suffers horrendous, life changing injuries that take years of intensive recovery to allow her to tell her story.
Pop star Robbie Manning is hiding a secret from his family, friends and fans that is about to come out.
Vanessa, working as a court support volunteer, is shocked to her core when she receives a letter from the past.
Even when I thought I had guessed where the story was going, another twist shocked me. A great read.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.
Wow what a fantastic read. This story was brilliant so many twists and I couldn't put it down read in two sittings and it was the best book I have read for a long time. Its begins with a young girl riding her bike and being in a dreadful accident and being left for dead but will anyone ever be bought to justice Its full of drama, corruption and secrets and just when you think everything is out in the open another secret comes to light. I can't recommend this book enough I've read and enjoyed all Jane Corry's books but this one is on another level.
Robbie, famous musician, is arrested for a hit and run two decades earlier that left a woman for dead. Beautiful Janey with a future so bright ahead of her never recovered after sustaining lufe changing injuries and the only way she can tell her story is through song or written word. Is Robbie guilty?
Wow! This book was incredible. Fascinatingly told from a number of perspectives with a complex array of intriguing characters. It gripped me from start to finish as what connected each of the characters to the trial was revealed. A five star read for me. Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the advance copy of this book.
I was blown away by this book. It had everything. An intricate creative plot supported by some amazing characterisations. Powerful relationships continually impacted and challenged the need for honest admissions and painful truths.
I found myself turning pages effortlessly to learn more about the tragic circumstances described so well in the book. This book also gives great insight to the issues of ignoring and coping with strong feelings of guilt about the past. Sadness can be overwhelming but I guess I did know that.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read and I am happy to recommend it to others. #IDiedonaTuesday #NetGalley
Another suspenseful read from Jane Corry. A story with two threads and lots of secrets.
Janie has been in a coma for years following a near-fatal accident. Then she starts to come round and remember things about the accident. This could have consequences for rock star Robbie.
Vanessa is grieving for her husband but finds out he kept a terrible secret from her that could have changed her life.
What makes this such a good read is how the characters gradually change and grow and don’t let their problems define them. A book you want to read in one go.
This book is an amazing page turner! In the beginner I was intrigued as to how these seemingly unrelated characters could be connected. I enjoyed watching the story unravel.
Then the story really picked up the pace from the middle onwards with twist after twist, after twist! Then just when you think it'll all over there's more to come! I just couldn't stop reading it!
One of the best books I've read this year, definitely add it to your must read pile.
I absolutely loved this book. A really good read. There were a variety of very interesting and unpredictable characters whose lives, on the surface were so diverse as to not be connected, but left tantalising breadcrumb trails to follow. The further you read, the more breadcrumb trails you followed to an very unexpected conclusion. I must admit to burning the midnight oil as I just had to read the next section, and then the next, and the next as I could not put it down.
Such a well written story. Three main characters but plenty of others interwoven and for a while its hard to see how they all connect. I love a story that keeps me thinking and this certainly did. Tragedy, twists galore and not the ending i expected. Simply put a fabulous and very worthwhile read. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
I was gripped from the very start and had to keep reading.
I Died on a Tuesday is a cracking read. Jane is cycling home after an early morning swim. Her whole life is ahead of her and she is looking forward to starting a new job in London. A hit-and-run driver leaves her for dead, with life-changing injuries. The driver is never found.
Twenty years later, famous rock star Robbie Manning gets a knock at the door. A witness has linked him with the accident. What happened? Will he have the strength to tell the truth amongst death threats against his family. Will his family stand by him?
Vanessa, provides witness support for those testifying in court. She took up the role after her husband died. Her husband, who was the investigating officer on the hit and run, has secrets of his own. Now these secrets are coming out and she finds out her husband has been lying to her. Her friend, the Judge on the case, has secrets of his own. The case is bringing out all sorts of danger and lies.
The book weaves all these characters together from the past into the present, coming to a fascinating conclusion. The book is well written and you will not be able to put it down, wondering what the outcome will be.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book marked a strong and positive start to 2024. I loved it; the writing style signaled early on that this was going to be a great read. The characters were well-developed, and the plot was compelling. Although the premise of the book centered around a tragedy, it was skillfully handled, demonstrating how past events can profoundly influence and shape one's future. A very enjoyable read that I would highly recommend.
Jane Corry does it again. OMG, this really hits the spot. Three strong central characters, inextricably linked by secrets, tragedy and a past that resonates into the present. The characters have real depth and differences. Unusually, I liked all of them and felt empathy. Corry has woven a complex and haunting tale about guilt, survival and I was gripped from the start. It’s excellent escapist fiction and Corry is truly at the top of her game. Loved, loved, loved this one.
This is EVERYTHING that Jane Corry does best! Great, grounded characters, plenty of twists, nail biting suspense, brilliantly intertwining threads and a satisfying end.
Janie is a girl who was severely injured and left for dead in a hit and run incident, Robbie Manning is the mega famous rock star accused of hitting her and a story that seems simple and straightforward is anything but.
Sometimes the pace towards the end lags a little, but perhaps that's because there are so many threads to tie up and I was too eager and impatient to get to them all.
A gripping, fantastic read from a writer who gets better and better with every amazing book!
I love Jane Corry's books and this one was no exception. An absolutely cracking read, Loved the characters especially Vanessa, The plot practically sizzled along. So pleased I got to read this
A new author for me, but one I will now follow with eager anticipation.
Three characters are the backbone of the book a young girl Janie who had life changing injuries years ago, a young lad made good as a popstar and Vanessa who works as a court support volunteer. Vanessa has own issue to contend with and also give support to Janie the young lady.
I thought I had the book worked out before halfway, but that many red herrings came up I was totally wrong.
Excellent writing. Waiting for the next novel.
Where do I start. This book totally gripped me, it was unputdownable and Christmas got in my way. I just don't know where to start without giving too much away. There are many twists and turns. The characters are believable and this thriller is well written. If you only read one book in 2024, make it this one. You won't regret it.
Wow, what a book.
I can't even begin to explain how fab this book is without giving away plot secrets.
It starts with a tragic accident then it's all about the secrets I think every character is hiding... So that's all I can say about that!
Oh what a tangled web we weave when we conspire to decieve
All I'll say is set aside some proper reading time and devour this.
Loved this book. Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion.
A great suspenseful read by Jane Corry. At the start it's hard to see how the all the characters are connected but all makes sense as the book goes on. Plenty of twists and turns and just as I think I know what really happened some thing else happens and back to thinking again. A real page turner that I highly recommend. I can't wait to read more by this author.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book by Jane Corry. Three main characters, great storyline working out how they are all connected, and lots of twists and turns to keep you gripped and wanting to read more.
This was an excellent book which I read avidly until finishing.
Janie is a beautiful shy teen who has lost her mum. Her dad says she killed herself by walking into the sea she loved to swim in but Janie continues to look for her.
Robbie comes from a home where his parents work hard to prove they belong in the country and his desire to become a musician seems to be against the work ethic, despite his obvious talent.
One chance event leads to a devastating and life changing event.
The girl who died but survived, years later lives and is able to confront the truth, helped by a woman discovering her own happy past is not what she believed it to be.
Amazing writing and brilliant characters with stories interwoven and stand alone, just a page turner.
Can’t recommend this book and author enough.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Once again Jane Corry has written a book that has blown my mind.
When I wasn't reading this, I was thinking about it, and just when you think you might know how thinks may resolve themselves, another twist is thrown in to keep you totally on your toes.
And even more impressive is the way what initially seems like some separate stories between the characters, actually proves they are linked in ways I would have never dreamed of (although made perfect sense once you knew).
I actually felt sympathy for all the main characters in this, including for the man who was accused of murder.
There are so many threads to this that I really wouldn't want to risk spoiling anything but suffice to say there is one rather addictive story within the pages of this book. This truly is a masterclass in fabulous storytelling., from an author that gets better and better with each book.
There are scenes set within a prison that were so vividly described that I could picture it clearly and at points it made me feel quite ill. The chapters from Janie's point of view were sensitively written, while Vanessa discovers all sorts of things as the story progresses.
It's just a fabulous book, and one that I'm sure will play on my mind for a while now that I've finished it.
Heartily recommend this book.
Thank you to Penguin and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Another great book by Jane Corry, she never fails. Starts dark, gets darker and twisty throughout. Very clever story exploring the many scary consequences of one's actions. Highly recommended xx
Really really enjoyed this book. Well written and kept my attention from start to finish. Great plot. Loveable characters. A real page turner
Another great book from Jane Corry. 'I Died On A Tuesday' is a gripping page turner that plugs at the heartstrings. Highly recommended.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc. I raced through this pacy, twisty thriller. I loved the central character and really enjoyed it.
I do enjoy reading this author's books and this one is fabulous. There were so many twists and turns and things that I did not see coming, right through to the end of the book.
The short synopsis tells you the very basics -
Janie is an 18-year-old victim of a hit and run leaving her with life-changing injuries.
Several years later the arrest of Robbie, a famous singer is arrested.
Vanessa, a witness support worker has secrets and tries to do the right thing.
The story evolves and revolves around these three main characters, there are obviously others and these have a role to play. The clever thing is that you don't know which role they are actually playing. This is something that gradually emerges as the story continues, some little hints and bits are laid like breadcrumbs.
Each of the characters is quite likeable, and this is strange considering one of them is a hit-and-run driver. Some leave you feeling just a tad suspicious about them or rather their motives. As you get to know the main characters and those they know you start to build a picture, not only of what preceded the hit and run, but also during and after. This gives a times conflicting emotions, because you are able to see one side of things but then this is balanced by something else.
The truth is hard to come by in this book, the author has cleverly twisted her plot lines and her characters are not totally reliable, some for simple reasons others for more serious ones. By the end though, you will find yourself with different ideas than you first thought when you started. Well, at least I did!
This is a fabulous story and one that I thoroughly enjoyed, it is tense and at times it challenges your initial thoughts. I think this would make a brilliant book for a book club especially if you had someone to ask leading questions. This is a thriller that has a very addictive edge to it, I adored it and I would definitely recommend it.
As with all Jane Corry books, I absolute loved this one! Such a simple idea but so beautifully written. Will keep you in suspense until the end. Jane Corry writes all her books with beautiful depictions of the places they are set, and her characters are fabulous.
Following the lives of three characters - who do we believe, was rockstar Robbie really to blame for the accident that changed Janie's life?
So many twists and turns. The definition of the phrase page-turner!
This is my first book by Jane Corry. Seriously can´t understand why I haven´t come across her before.
This was such a clever storyline, totally engrossing, and very hard to put down. Many twists, great characters, and emotional ending.
My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin General UK for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy in return for an honest review.
This is a book about three people, their families and an event that happened over 20 years ago. Janie was horribly injured in an accident when she was just 18 years old. Robbie is a world famous rock star adored by all. And Vanessa, a middle aged police officers widow who is a Witness Support Officer at Exeter Crown Court. Told from multiple POV and in dual timelines this is a very tense and exciting read.
Briefly, there was an horrific accident with the perpetrators fleeing the scene believing they had killed Janie. Twenty years later Robbie pleads guilty to the hit and run and all of the ramifications of that day are brought home in a shocking story full of secrets and lies. Is there anyone actually not guilty of something?
A brilliantly written thriller where every time you think everything is out in the open something else crops up right to the last page! The suspense is palpable as the threads of each of the protagonist’s own stories start to interweave and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. A great read I thoroughly enjoyed.
121 chapters (+ an epilogue) of an utterly compulsive story!
20 years ago Janie is left for dead. Best-loved celebrity Robbie has been waiting for this day for 20 years. He now needs a criminal lawyer!
Vanessa a witness service volunteer was married to Jack; the first cop on the scene 20 years ago!
Topics include: grooming and control, bribery and threats.
This book is addictive… Jane Corry never disappoints!
Perfect for those who enjoy:
- Historical criminal cases
- Prison / court fiction
- Fight for justice stories
- Can’t read fast enough thrillers
- Jaw dropping twist
Loved the occasional nod to speech therapy as a speech therapist myself!
With thanks to Penguin General UK, Michael Joseph and Netgalley for an ARC copy in return for an honest review.
I’ve been lucky enough to have read a few of Jane Corry’s books as ARCs and they’ve all been brilliant, this one is no exception. It follows three main characters and their roles in an incident that happened previously and as the story picks up you start to see that you don’t actually know if they’re playing the role you assume at the start. I loved the twists and turns, Jane always keeps you on your toes for sure and the different layers and facets too it have really taken some clever skill to put together. If you like twisty pacy crime thrillers then order this one asap!
As usual with Jane Corry books, the author of I Died on a Tuesday takes us into the world of courtrooms and prisons, where ordinary people are caught up in extraordinary events, victims of circumstances that are usually beyond their control.
In this story, a musical celebrity, Robbie, is arrested for a hit and run committed twenty years ago, which left a young girl Janey for dead. Involved in the case are Judge - his nickname and his job title - and Vanessa, an older woman who volunteers as a witness support worker. All three have a back story, all three have heartbreak to hide and secrets yet to be revealed.
I normally see the twist coming in Jane Corry books, but the twists in this multi-layered plot eluded me, making this a particularly enthralling read. The characters are good, the plot threads all come together very satisfactorily and the story holds surprises right up to the end.
I like Jane Corry's narrative style. It's simple but very effective in aking her characters credible, and she uses it to great effect here as Vanessa in particular comes to grips with what life his throwing at her now that dramatically alters her perception of the past.
Perception of the past is a theme here for the other characters, to0. But can we trust Robbie, the judge, or even victim Janey, as they share their recollections of past tragedies? And can any of them truly trust the legal system to deliver justice, and keep them safe from the evil that still stalks their lives?
I've always been a fan, but I thought this was a particularly good thriller domestic noir from Jane Corry.
Thank you to Penguin Books, Netgalley and Jane Corry for allowing me early access to another gripping read!
The book is about emotional connections, and dealing with some life altering injuries and bereavement.
It was an incredible book that kept me reading into the early hours (very rare I have to say). The characters were intriguing. Each individual it turns out has there own problems or issues which slowly unwind and evolve over time. It was easy to connect with the characters and the story was plausible.
What I like about this author is her chapters are short, and about one person per chapter. She has the amazing ability to end each chapter on a cliff hanger, this really was a pageturner!
You can read the sypnosis of the book if you google it. This is just my opinion. It's released on 6th June......grab yourself a copy and I look forward to your next book Jane!
LOVED IT! 5 stars great read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin General UK for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
WOW! This was an amazing thriller. It was full of twists and turns and I never saw any of them coming. I really believe you should go into the book blind, but the story follows three timelines and three main characters. Each of them were affected by an incident and now they're all struggling with the aftermath, but what really happened?
Fabulous, a must read for the summer.

Can’t thank @netgalley and @janecorryauthor for allowing me to read and review this fabulous book!
Janie White is in a horrific accident and the culprit has not been caught. Until
Now. Or so we think……
I love how all the characters lives are entwined. Janie, Vanessa, Robbie, Judge …. Each one has their own story to tell and Jane has a wonderful was of making the reader feel like they really know the characters. I felt emotionally attached to them 🥰
Every time I thought the end was there …. Another twist came. Superb writing Jane 👏
Released June 2024 - has to be on your pre-order list! @janecorryauthor has done it again with this belter ❤️
What a nail biter of a book! I absolutely loved it and read it in just a couple of days which is unusual for me. The short chapters made it hard to put down and I had to keep reading 'just one more'. There are three main characters in the story, Robbie, Vanessa and Janie, all with their own issues and the numerous twists, shocks and revelations had me completely engrossed. I loved the courtroom scenes and just could not foresee how it would all play out but it concluded well and left this very happy reader, and fan of Jane Corry, eager for her next book. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
