Advance Praise

"Readers will be eager to learn the answers that Ben seeks in this middle grade novel that is both heartfelt and full of surprises." --Courtney Sheinmel, author of Stella Batts and My So-Called Family

"An excellent read for middle-grade readers AND their parents looking for suspense, action, and uplifting entertainment."  --Lisa Parker Hayreh for Independent Book Review

"Ellen Melissa Cohen masterfully brings us along on the young narrator's quest to discover who his father is, tackling a tricky topic with sensitivity, suspense and humor, all in the believable voice of 10-year-old Ben."  -- Jane Sutton, author of Me and the Weirdos, ALA/CBC Children's Choice

"The number of books coming out in the past few years showing different family make-ups has been wonderful. Kids from all sorts of families are able to see themselves in the books they read. But, this is the first book I’ve read that involves IVF and sperm donation. It’s an opportunity to start a conversation, but more importantly, a mirror that can allow many kids to see themselves. Add Ben & Blue: Searching for Lucky #3002 to your classroom library shelves." -- Laura Lamarre Anderson, owner lala Books, Lowell, MA

Searching for Lucky #3002 was an interesting middle grade book about a boy searching for answers about his absent father! The book had twists I did not see coming. The author does a great job introducing some grown up topics in a clear and easy to understand way. The illustrations added much to the reading experience. However, I do not agree that the main character, a 10 young old, should go behind his mother’s back to research all this own his own. Had he insisted to know the truth via his mother, I would have given a higher rating. Overall, a well done book that was entertaining while touching on a harder topic!
