This is a non-fiction book on animals with a very interesting concept: The book groups them into some very creative categories, such as the prickly ones, the night owls (that includes more than just owls), etc. It is a bit thin on information, but what it lacks in information, it is more than compensated with glorious artwork and the wonderful concept behind it.

What a fantastic book for all animal lovers to share together. I love how the creatures have been sorted into different categories so that you are reading about animals which are similar. Each creature is clearly labelled and many also have interesting facts accompanying them. The colourful, cartoon-style illustrations will certainly lead to lots of super discussions.
I can't wait to purchase a copy for our school library.
So lovely to see endangered and the vanished creatures celebrated too.

Wonderful! Simple, colourful and informative animal fun.

My personal favourite categories; The champion breath-holders 🐋 The night owls 🦡🦉 and the unlucky 🦇🐺

With very special mentions for 💔 The endangered 🐼🦦 and The vanished 🦤🦣

Pros: This book is a celebration of animals. It highlights unique things about them like their colors, physical characteristics, personalities, habitats, and special skills. The illustrations throughout are colorful and eye-catching--my favorites were the masters of camouflage and the night owls!

Cons: None that I can think of!

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions for the opportunity to read this book.

Creaturepedia is such a fun compendium of creatures organized by fun groups instead of just the normal labels.
For example, we have the Regals, or the Gladiators and the illustrations gather animals that are from different ecosystems but share the same traits or are close to being related to a theme such as the ones who are masters of camouflage. There are plenty of animals and plenty of bee categories. The text is almost minimal, just enough to identify the animal and give us one fact per creature.
The artwork is whimsical and colorful and makes for a very entertaining but also educational read. (I didn't know some of these animals now I do).

Thank you, netgalley and publisher, for this e-arc.

A great introduction to the world of non-fiction for animal loves. Striking and vivid illustrations with interesting facts woven into the images.

Ideal for reluctant readers, fact finders and a great platform to encourage further research. I really enjoyed the multitude of ways that the creatures were grouped! My daughter (4) also enjoyed pointing out intriguing creatures that are not normally featured in children’s non-fiction. A definite must for our own bookshelf and my school bookshelf.

I read this aside another reviewer (my nine year old niece) she loved the art style as it was not "baby-ish" and how the creatures were categorised appealed to her. I think I have seen some critique from other reviewers that they wished there were more facts in the book but for mu niece (and avid reader) this was a perfect initial summary book where she could see animals in groupings not seen normally and then find one's she was interested in learning more about.

Love this book! I was able to read a promotional copy through NetGalley. The illustrations are adorable but my favorite part is how the animals are grouped. It’s sections like the snowy whites, or loners and lets kids consider more about behaviors than your typical nature books. The text is scattered on pages and often includes fact details so kids are reading in a different and interesting way. It’s fun read plus an educational resource to keep coming back to for reference.

Sometimes all you need for entertainment, learning and to amplify your imagination is to read a picture encyclopaedia. The style is excellent and innovative. The pictures encourage chats with children about animals, creatures and lets your imagination go wild. We need more of these books.
