Each book is a STAND-ALONE story and features first-person narration from a different member of Miss Sorenson's Green Hill Academy fifth-grade classroom. The chronology of the books overlaps slightly such that there is a "baton pass" of the story. A minor character in Book One becomes the main character in Book Two.

As someone who works with children the same age as the main character of this heartwarming story, it is absolutely one I would recommend to any child who is struggling to figure out where they ‘fit’.
The storyline is simple yet engaging, centring around a preteen boy who has a strained relationship with his over-bearing mother and a kid crush on a girl in his class.
Within the plot of filming a class ‘mummy’ movie for a competition, the author explores Bernard’s confusion within his own identity, isolation, self-consciousness around body image and emotions that are growing in complexity as he grows- all issues many young boys face every day!
There is a lot of character development to be found throughout this story, in a way children will relate to and understand. I found the character of Bernard very endearing. He is goofy, intelligent and kind-hearted and a character that I feel many children can relate to. His friendships with Dewey, Franny and Bridget are so lovely and there is much for children to take away from the development of each connection. Bernard’s relationship with his mother also transforms as the story reaches its conclusion.
I rated this story 5/5 stars, packed full with positive messages for young people.

Meet Bernard a smart and awkward boy,but he gets nervous when miss Sorensen announces that they are making a movie…a mummy movie.
And he gets even more nervous when he finds out that Bridget his crush is the leading lady and he is the mummy.
My favorite part of the book:Was when he made friends because friendship is one of the most important things of life.
What I learned:That friendship is very important in this world to survive.
I suggest that young readers read books by this author because it’s funny it’s scary and sad hope you enjoy the book.📖
