Description

Mollie Shaw’s an awkward introvert who’s been diagnosed with a rare lovesick disorder called Clerambault Syndrome. For the most part, it occurs in young women.

The main symptom is a highly delusional belief that some man of higher standing is in love with them. The wife of the man at the center of Mollie’s delusions turns up dead and Mollie’s brought in for questioning.

One of the detectives, Clay Caulder, is a chauvinist and a womanizer and doesn’t play by the rules; he has no problem framing people, whether they are innocent or not. He thinks Mollie’s a giant cuckoo bird. She’s charged with murder and sent to a mental institution for women in Upstate New York to be evaluated before the trial.

While there, she sets out to prove her innocence to psychiatrists and secretly plots against Clay, believing it’s him who’s responsible for her situation. A thickly layered, psychological thriller with a terrifying ending!
