Description
Rachel Lazarus is perfectly content with her life as it is.
She lives for her family, her best friend, and her two cats. Admittedly, she does not lead an exciting life, but it is a good life, firmly grounded by her faith. Rachel is a survivor – of loss, of trauma – so everyone should leave her be. Of course, her world has become rather small – she works the night shift and spends much of her free time in her safe place at home, watching her stories. Life is just how she wants it—safe and quiet. That is until the women in her life decide she needs to get out more.
Agreeing to go out on three dates sounded simple enough, but Rachel's life is soon turned upside down as she's swept into a whirlwind of feelings and insecurities, revealing layers within her she'd long since forgotten. Rachel's journey isn't just about dating again; it's about rediscovering herself, sometimes facing the trauma of the past, and reigniting a passion for life she thought she had lost. Alarm Fatigue invites you to a story of second chances, where sorrow and joy combine to awaken a closed heart.
Will love be the ultimate cure for Rachel Lazarus, or is facing the world outside her comfort zone a door she simply cannot walk through?

Rachel’s transformation is a powerful reminder that love, both romantic and self-love, can be the catalyst for true healing, but it also requires confronting vulnerability and the pain of the past. Alarm Fatigue is a heartfelt exploration of finding the strength to move forward, even when it seems impossible, and rediscovering the courage to embrace the unknown. With poignant moments, rich character development, and an inspiring message, this is a book that will resonate with almost anyone gives it a read.
Such a great read! Hit it all the feels about bringing yourself back to life literally. I loved it! Highly recommend it! One of my favorite reads to date!
Barbara Rachel has a strong writing style and enjoyed the romance element to this type of book. I was engaged with what was happening and enjoyed the way the characters were in this universe. I was engaged with what was happening and enjoyed the overall package of this.
This book was amazing! I have not read a book like this in a long time. The story was very interesting and I could not put it down. And the romance was great!
I adored the first 80 percent of this book. Women growing and discovering themselves, family (both found and otherwise) having a life before romance, Jewish representation. All here. The last 20 percent was a bit weaker for me, it had a medical thing that was triggering for me (but most people would be fine with) and rushed towards a (very) happy and maybe too neat ending.
My main note is - get a dialog editor, or a friend who is willing to tell the truth. none- of the characters use abbreviations, by the end I was editing in my head as I went. Anyway, this is a book i enjoyed, and I will be looking out for Barbara Rachel's future work.
