First thing first, I have to thank Harlequin UK and netgalley for allowing to read The Iron Warrior before his official release next october. I was honored, I was happy and I was afraid but here I am... It's time for me to say goodbye to The Iron Fey even if it's difficult. These books, these characters, they took a very big place in my life. The Iron fey is the most extraordinary, the most beautiful and amazing series I've ever read. I will read it again and again, be sure of that.
The Iron Warrior ends the Iron Fey series brilliantly. From the start to the very end, Julie Kagawa amazed me with her story. I was so glad to meet again with Ethan, Kenzie, Razor.... and especially with Meghan, Ash, Puck and others (like a famous cat!). I loved that Julie reunited all of the characters together. The Iron fey, it's not just Meghan and Ash's story in the first 4 books and then Ethan's story in the last 3 books, it's much more than that. A wonderful journey, a family story with love, friendship, sacrifices but always the family first.
It's difficult to write about the last book because I don't want to spoil you. The Iron Warrior was fantastic. Julie did it again! I love her writing, everybody is this series has a personnality of his own. I loved each character. Of course, I'm very attached to Meg, Ash and Puck. But Ethan and Kenzie surprised me a lot, especially in this last book. Kenzie is a very great girl, smart and sweet. Ethan was brave and I liked when he finally realizes how much he loves his sister, how much he is a part of faery. Ethan grown up and I really appreciate him. The only one I despised is Keirran. But I won't talk about him, you have to read the book to know!
This book was filled with sweet moments, bad moments, action, love, sacrifices. It was stressful most of the time. Especially toward the end. I was afraid to read the last page, the last words. I didn't know what Julie imagined but I can tell you: it's much better than what I imagined. Julie Kagawa, you created an amazing world and I wanted to thank you because these books made me dream these past 4 years. Amazing world, perfect ending.
The release of The Iron Warrior sees the end of one of my very favourite series, and it does it with a bang.
It’s been five years since Meghan, Ash and Puck first teamed up to bring chaos to the Nevernever and I've fallen in love with them, Ethan, Kenzie, Kierran and the creatures of the faery world. Reading The Iron Warrior was very bittersweet. Meghan is truly a queen now and Ash has become everything I hoped he would be, but it’s the newer characters like Kenzie – Ethan’s girlfriend – who really had some development in this final instalment. I had liked Kenzie in The Lost Prince and The Iron Traitor, but she really came into her own here. Kenzie has learnt how to operate in the Nevernever; she knows the quirks, the loopholes and how to survive as a human in Faery. I can't help but wonder if Julie Kagawa ever brings this world back (oh please, please, please!), it’ll be with Kenzie in some way…
One of my favourite things about The Iron Warrior were the echoes of Ash and Meghan in Ethan and Kenzie’s relationship, particularly the way they worked together and a certain scene at a battleground camp, the night before the fight of their lives – even Meghan and Ash noticed that similarity! We also saw characters that helped Meghan, Ash and Puck throughout the original series come back to aid Ethan and Kenzie in their quest to stop Kierran and bring him home. It felt like a real send off to a group f beloved characters and a world that I would love to visit, though it's highly unlikely I'd survive even 24 hours in the Nevernever…
The Iron Warrior is an action-packed and thoroughly entertaining ending to the Iron Fey series and I really hope Kagawa will take us back one day; it was certainly left open to it.
WHAT THE FUDGE?!!! This book just rocked my world! I was torn between hating and loving Keirran. Anyway, this book is told through Ethan’s POV. From the start up to the last, I was WOWed with this book. The story is full of surprises that I did not see coming. Ms. Julie just FANTASTICALLY NAILED it! Can’t wait for more!!! Definitely one of my best reads this year!
The very last Iron Fey book. Never again will I return to this magical world. No more faeries, no more talking cats and to just stick the knife right into my heart- no more Ashallyn’ darkmyr Tallyn. Is everybody just a little bit depressed, everybody with me? Great, now onto the review!
So after the literally ‘killer’ ending of The Lost Prince we find out that Ethan is in fact not dead whew, the Veil between humans and faeries was temporarily lifted during Ethan’s ‘death’, The Dark Muse/The Lady is now more powerful than ever and is ready to wage war against the Seelie, Unseelie and Iron Courts to reclaim the Nevenever and become the one true Queen, and lastly, that Kierran my sweet little Kierran is now a complete and utter lunatic who has lost his soul and is now the champion of the Forgotten and leading this whole damn thing.
Ethan must travel through the Nevernever, the Between and the Dark Wyld in order to try and save the world of faerie. In a wicked twist of fate Ethan discovers that he must destroy the amulet his Guro made for Kierran, in order for Annwyl to avoid the Fade. The amulet is now eating at Kierran’s soul and the longer he is without it, the more likely that his new darker, merciless side is going to be permanent. However the amulet is not easily destroyed and the process might well be impossible, also can anyone really destroy the amulet knowing that Annwyl's life will end without it?
I absolutely loved coming back to the Nevernever and being reunited with some of my favourite characters from the first series. The plot as always was well paced and filled with action, adventure and plot twists that you never see coming, Kagawa doesn’t pull any punches with this last book, sacrifices must be made, bargains are made and lives are lost.
The Iron Warrior was a strong final book and I was so sad to see it end. For me there was far too little Ash & Puck but this wasn't their story and to be honest there could be a whole book dedicated to them and I would still say the same, the characters from the original series will always be my favourite and it’s going to be so hard to let them go. Although I do think it’s only right and long overdue that Puck has a series of his own, surely? His short scenes and one liners just make the book for me! Also Ash will continue to be the love of my life
I have been in love with Julie Kagawa's work from the first Iron Fey series so when I knew there was a spin-off, of course, I was excited. I devoured the first two books and after this book got pushed back and had its name changed I was obviously very excited when it was first released.
The book is a great ending to the series and I really loved it. It was nice being with the characters again and seeing how they react with each other. To me, Julie Kagawa can do no wrong especially when this book took so long to come out, I did just want to know how it ended.
This being said, however, The Iron Warrior was a great end to the series. We got to see all of my favourite characters back again and I do just love Keirran and Ethan and their relationship and also really love Ethan and Kenzie’s love affair too.
I did love this book and this series and I feel like more people need to read Julie Kagawa’s books so please do that so that I can gush over my feels.
