An absolutely magnificent instalment of the lives of Alfie, Vaughn and Franny. This is the 4th in the series and although it can be read as a stand alone, I think it is better appreciated if it is read after the earlier books so that the full depth of the characters and their history is known. Personally, I think the series just goes from strength to strength and this book is just gold. Can't wait for the next one.

This book was riveting
And above
It was full of shady characters
I was given an ARC
It was full of prostitutes and Alfie and Vaughn argued all the times

This is the 4th book featuring Franny, Alfie and Vaughan.

I may have said this before, but by god I'm glad this author is back. I missed her books for far to long.
This lady can damn well write a page turner. Book you end up addicted to and cannot put them down until you finish. Then unfortunately you are left with a book hangover. My god I love this authors work.
We are back in the lives of Alfie Jenner, Franny Doyle and Vaughn Sadler, some of the underworlds ruthless criminals. They maybe criminals but after so many books you can't help but like them.
There are scores to settle, fights to be had, deals to be made or broken. This book has everything you would want from a gritty read.
These characters are so good to read about, they actually feel like you are back with old friends. I guess these books could be read as standalones, but I believe you'd get a better reading experience by reading them all in order. If you have never read these books start with the first one, my goodness you're in for a treat, It wouldn't surprise me if you end up reading them back to back.
I certainly couldn't live their lifestyle but I love reading about it.
Just fantastic, I'm really not sure what more I can say.

Once again I was drawn straight back into the lives of Franny, Vaughn and Alfie, and I just couldn't get enough of them. I'm already keen to read the next book!

Completely addictive I could barely put the book down, as I tried to second guess what may happen or not.

With new equally despicable characters introduced there is a lot to take in, but once you have the basics sorted in your mind, it's a real fast paced page turner.

Set in London's seedy underbelly, there is plenty touched on that would make your stomach curl. At times disgusting, at others graphic I can't seem to get enough of these characters and of Jacqui Rose's writing.

I'm never entirely positive that I enjoy the content of these books but there is just something about them which means they can't be unread on my kindle for long. I'm definitely hooked on these rather criminal and dodgy people, even if I can't really understand why.

Although this could be read as a standalone, you potentially would gain more from reading some of the authors previous books as they all appear to be connected.

What a fabulous book to have whiled away the first couple of hours of a long haul flight with.

Thank you to Avon on Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Following up the Sinner, the previous book, we get to read more about characters that we’ve met in London and a life that’s definitely not for everyone known.
I loved it, same great writing, strong characters, turns and twists, on the edge most of the time and a great story overall that I will recommend anytime.

As a follow up to sinner, it was nice to read what happened next with the characters.

Franny is in prison for a crime she didn't commit,
Alfie is a drug-taking alcoholic and Vaughn after doing the unthinkable in their lives and going to the police about Franny has taken Shannon under his wing by moving her into his luxury flat convincing her to be a witness to "Franny's crime" but also away from the clutches of her vile uncle Harry.

If you like gangland thrillers then this is definitely one to read. Great characters, brilliant story. Love the cover. A very well deserved 5*'s.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this excellent book xxx

'Poison' is a great read, well written. I hadn't realized until I was part way through that it was a follow on to 'Sinner' which I read in the summer. Whilst I recognized the main characters, this would not effect your reading of this book, if you've not read any of previous gangland crime books, this would not be essential before reading this title.

Another great book in the Franny, Alfie and Vaughn series. Plenty of action to keep me reading, I didn’t want to put it down. Although it can be read as a stand-alone it’s worth reading the previous ones in the series so you can get a bit of background to the characters. In my opinion this series just keeps getting better so thank you Ms Rose bring on the next one!!! I can’t wait.

I just finished this book in one sitting.... I just love the way ms Rose spins a tale, from beginning to end. I really suggest that you read the books before this one, just to understand some of the interpersonal relationships, but it does read nicely enough as a standalone. This was a very well written book and I can't wait for the next one!
Highly recommended.

This is the 4th book featuring Franny, Alfie and Vaughan, and this series is getting better with each book.

In Franny’s world, there are just some things you don’t do and snitching is one of them. When Vaughan whispers in the ear of a local copper and Franny is put on remand for murder, she enlists Alfie’s help to prove her innocence. No one crosses Franny and as she plots her revenge on Vaughan, nothing will stand in her way until she feels justice is done.

A great book from start to finish, looking forward to see what happens next.

I have read all of Jacqui's books, they never fail to disappoint and once again this latest book is absolutely brilliant! Poison is the 4th book which features character from earlier books, Jacqui has a gift for creating superb characters and by the time you get to this book you really feel like you know them all. The story lines keeps you hooked from the first page to the last.

All four books are equally as good as the next and the way the books end leave you desperate for more! Another cracking 5 star read.

As ever with a Jacqueline Rose book I was hooked from the first page, wanting to find out what is happening between Franny, Alfie and Vaughan.

Loyalty is everything to those who move in crime circles and when someone breaks that loyalty, they have to pay. When Vaughan Sadler speaks out, Franny Doyle is sent to prison and she is not happy about it, swearing to get her revenge - will she fall on Mr Huang, the man who loves to inflict as much pain as he can for cash?

Alfie still hasn’t come to terms with what Franny did to Bree, the mother of his child. He also isn’t aware what Vaughan and Shannon’s involvement is with it either. On the edge and being used a pawn, Alfie gets drawn into Franny’s game of payback, what are what consequence?

Loved the book, surprised by the ending and cannot wait for the next instalment!

Good lord!! First if all, it’s great to have Alfie and Vaughn back, but what a rollercoaster of a journey!! I was racing to finish this book, although I didn’t want it to end!! Absolutely brilliant! JR has smashed it out if the park, yet again!!

Jacqui Rose has joined the list of my favourite authors.
I couldn't put this book down. Can be read as a standalone book but I would thoroughly recommend previous books as they are fabulous.

A well written and thrilling gangster tale with a twist at the end. Great characters, some likeable and others I could have slapped! A must read for fans of the gangster genre. I read it in one sitting, although I would recommend reading the previous books in the series first for background detail. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Poison with the main character Franny Dole who is set up by people she thought she knew and of course the cooper that has been after her for years. Now in prison, she is fighting Luca and the female guards, while working on a way to gain her release. This book will have you going from the moment you start it to the very end. Each turn of the page is something different just when you think you have it all figured out you don’t. actually, that was the way until the last page and even then, I still wanted to see what was going to happen next to the characters. Each character is different and unique yet in some strange way you can relate to some of them, I could anyway. I found this to be a fantastic book looking forward to reading this author again.

Another great read provided by Jacqui Rose! At times this book made me feel squeamish, mad, sad and joyful. It had it all; bent coppers, low life characters and women with balls of steel. It ends with the tease of a follow up too - looking forward to it already!!

I’d like to thank Avon Books UK and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Poison’ by Jacqui Rose in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Vaughn Sadler hates Franny Doyle and thinks if he grasses her up to Detective Balantyne for killing Bree Dwyer she’ll be locked up for ever and out of his life. But he’s under-estimated Franny for while she’s being held on remand in prison she makes plans for getting revenge on those who’ve given fake evidence to the police.

Jacqui Rose has surpassed herself with ‘Poison’ as it has to be her best gangland thriller yet. We meet up with Franny Doyle who’s in prison on a trumped-up charge concocted by Vaughn, Shannon who confirms Vaughn’s statement as she loves him and will do anything for him, and Alfie Jennings who’s coming to terms with having a baby daughter. The story is well-written, gritty and dramatic with a plot that’s bloodthirty and gruesome, there’s intrigue, twists and turns and loathsome characters, especially Uncle Charlie, and the conclusion is so shocking that I’ve had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next, finishing it in twenty-four hours. We’re left with such a spine-chilling cliffhanger that everybody who’s had the pleasure to read this thriller will be waiting eagerly for the next instalment.

This is a fantastic gangland crime thriller that had me hooked throughout the book.
Franny has been arrested and put inside while waiting for a court date and she is seething. Someone has not played by the rules and she’s out for revenge.
Alfie is spiralling deeper and deeper out of control and whilst Vaughn wants to help him, he doesn’t know what to do.
Alfie is attacked as he owes money and with his daughter in the house, Vaughn takes her back off him with Shannon.
Shannon is falling for Vaughn but her uncle has other ideas and makes her life a living hell.
There’s lots of strands to this book and I loved how it all came together.
This is my favourite so far in this series.
Thanks to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
