This book is absolutely beautiful and the photos taken doesn’t do it any justice at all. Filled with various visualisation prompts to use during meditation at bedtime, as well as affirmations for the morning, this is a perfect read for anyone looking for a piece of tranquility and zen.
It’s no secret that I struggle with sleep and can sometimes find it very difficult to drift off but I can honestly say that this book has definitely helped me to relax in the evenings. Not always successfully fall to sleep but always to chill and rest my mind.
You don’t need to be any kind of meditation expert to enjoy the benefits of this, and with a various stories for any occasion, you can dip in and out and as often as is personally needed.
An amazing addition for any bedside table!
Sleep isn’t easy for me. I’ve struggled with insomnia for decades. This book helps. It’s guided meditation for all different sorts of things you want to work on (self confidence, anxiety etc) I love the affirmations included to repeat to yourself the next morning to keep the peaceful feeling going the whole day.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Sleep Tight is a book of illustrated bedtime stories and meditations to relax and sooth your mind before bed to try and help you sleep better and easier.
This book has a range of different short bedtime stories for adults with relaxing illustrations and colours on each page. The stories are followed with prompts and activities to do either at night or in the morning.
No expertise or meditation experience is needed to use this book and you do not have to follow it cover to cover you can go to any story you want depending on you and your needs.
I really liked this approach towards promoting mindfulness, meditation and encouraging good sleeping practices. I struggle with sleep in general since becoming a shift worker and I found that this book helped a little with getting a better night sleep. The pictures were stunning and they were probably my favourite part of the book.
I have liked the majority of the guided meditation scenarios mentioned.
Some of them I will adapt for sure during some therapy and mindfulness sessions.
The only thing I cannot have a grasp of is that for true meditation it is recommended to induce the trance in the same way as you reconnect with the present: either through breathing or fixing a certain point around you. The trance induction here and the manner on how you manage to make a shape of the stories and relaxation techniques are rather harsh and very abrupt.
Let’s face it, life can be exhausting. Most times, as adults, we don’t give ourselves the self care we deserve. This book is the foundation of an internal component of self care we need; SLEEP.
So let’s get to the book review:
Off the bat, I was amazed at how beautifully illustrated the book was. Constructed perfectly. The guided meditations were creatively written to allow relaxation for a productive sleep at night while the affirmations induce a positive mindset and inner stregnth. Inner strength that can be used to face any scenarios you might be faced with.
Overall, this is a book that shows ways to have a productive sleep by controlling both your mind and mood. Therefore, I would recommend this book.
