Don't miss spending time with Orbit and his friends on their fourth adventure of The Power of... children's picture book series.
This beautifully illustrated story gently teaches young children how to recognize their emotions - and the emotions of others. Children learn what it means to practice empathy by witnessing real-life examples that are easy for them to understand.

Another sweet, beautifully written and illustrated book for young children, this time about empathy. It delivers, the book is clear and very humane. I have read other books by the author and she knows her audience and her kids. I'll say it again, it is a sweet book. My wife knows I like reading kids' books, and the reason I do is because the better ones are well written and the message and story is clear, which also makes it powerful. Empathy is a wonderful strength to teach our children. Teach them well.
The Power of Empathy carries such a deeply important message for our children in simple language that they can understand. In the book, a globe character called Orbit teaches a group of kids that empathy is a superpower that helps them be the best friend they can possibly be. I loved the examples that were given to explain what empathy is and how they are common everyday occurrences that would be familiar to a child. I also adored how the book normalizes all kinds of feelings, happy ones and sad ones included. I will be sharing this one with my 5 and 7 year olds to help them gain a greater understanding of this superpower!
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this wonderful ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Empathy is so important for children to learn and this book did a great job describing it. I also love how diverse the book was and it did a great job representing all different types of kids with all different abilities. I would purchase this for my children.
I love that children are being taught the complex way we feel emotions. The Power of Empathy is a very cute, meaningful story about feeling empathy for others with good examples of times when someone can be empathetic towards someone else. The characters are diverse and the art style is fun and would entice a child to read this book.
Make empathy one of your superpowers.
Orbit the globe is on another adventure showing children how to show empathy. It is important to understand your own emotions before you can help others with theirs. In a school like setting, with many different emotions, and children, you and your child can together discuss in a fun way about our emotions and what to do when emotions come rolling in. I found the story well thought out and the illustrations friendly and inviting. Highly recommend.
A special thank you to Books Go Social and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for accepting my request to read and review The Power of Empathy.

Empathy is defined as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. The object is to explain how to be the friend you want to be. This is a beautiful teaching.
The illustrations are good, representing the subject matter well.
There should be a warning that guidance is needed, preferably parental, when broaching this subject.
I would definitely gift to a babysitter for their aresenal, as well as new parents and grandparents.

personally I loved the examples that were given to explain what empathy is and how they are common everyday occurrences that would be familiar to a child.

I will be reading this with my 5 and 7 year old nephews to help them gain a greater understanding of this superpower!!
Loved the representation in this- children with different skin colors, hair colors, hair textures, and ambulatory statuses. This book did a great job of explaining empathy and compassion in a way that kids would understand. I liked that it gave multiple examples of each and provides a good opportunity for kids to think of their own experiences and share an example to the reader.
This was such an important book to read for everyone, it doesn't matter how old or young you are
It teaches how to deal with your emotions and what emphaty really is❤️
I'm very torn about this book. The story was on point and a very great description of empathy, encouraging verbalising your feelings in an easy and child friendly way. Would definitely recommend it for the message. In addition there is a divers representation of skin colours and a handicapped wheelchair user, which is also important for kids to see. What I absolutely didn't like was the style of drawing which is why I won't buy the book for myself and my friends.
This is a great book about empathy.
I think it would be an excellent book for school counselors to discuss with young elementary school students.
Orbit, a planet with human features, teaches a group of children about empathy.
Children of all ages can struggle with empathy, both giving and receiving, so having a book such as this provides a valuable resource.
Review of The Power of Empathy: Be the Friend You've Always Wanted by Ruth Maille.
This is a very educative picture book that teaches children about empathy and the power of understanding their feelings.
The dialog in the book is between a few children and Orbit, who plays the part of the teacher, explaining to the kids what empathy is and giving relevant examples to help them understand.
This is a great picture book and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to all children who want to understand their emotions and to all parents teaching their kids about it.
It was a great book to teach children about empathy.
I love the illustration too.
However, I think the text could be better arranged.
But I love how the kids share each others thought with Orbit.
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
This children's book is designed to teach kids not only that they should care about other people, but shows them ways to do that and ways that they probably already do. This is a message that I think many adults have forgotten, or maybe they just never knew because they didn't have this book.
The language is pretty simple, making it easy for children to understand. A budding reader may even be able to work through this book with a little assistance.
The illustrations were bright and colorful and made me think of super heroes, which I'm pretty sure was the goal, so they definitely succeeded on that front for me. I just wish I knew why the Earth has bandaids on his head.
Overall I give this book 4.2 out of 5 stars.
I really love this series of books which are about Orbit and his friends. In this book, Orbit is teaching his friends all about empathy. He teaches them all about different emotions and how each emotion affects other people. He explains to them what empathy is, and how they can practice showing empathy to others.
The illustrations in the book are absolutely gorgeous and they are really cute.
My daughter and I loved this book so much, and she was very interested in learning all about emotions. It helped her to open up to me about the different emotions she was feeling herself, and we had a good, deep conversation.
We both highly recommend this book, which has a very important message which will help a lot of children with their mental health and wellbeing.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
This children's book teaches about empathy and emotions. The illustrations and story feature a number of diverse characters and highlight the skills the characters have but also the challenges they face. Emotions are covered as well as the concept of having empathy towards people who are experiencing difficult emotions. The illustrations are bright and colourful and there are a few lines of black text per page. I could definitely see myself using this book as part of a health lesson on emotions or when teaching about empathy with my students in subject areas like social studies or science (rights, responsibilities, taking care of nature and animals etc). I would recommend this book for children in the age 4-8 range. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!
Empathy is such an important thing to have! This book cleverly teaches about emotions, empathy, and how to be a caring friend, in a way for children to understand and practice. I liked the inclusive illustrations. Highly recommended!
The Power of Empathy was a great children’s read aloud that teaches children about empathy and how to better handle situations where empathy can help the outcomes. I absolutely LOVE the inclusion in this book, too!
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read and review this precious book.
This book is inclusive and diverse. It talks about empathy with pets, adults, and children. It talks about various emotions & regulating them. We can use so much more empathy in the world & I think this book is a nice tool.
I got this ebook from NetGalley
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
The Power of Empathy is a fantastic resource to teach children what empathy is, how we show it, and how it can make a difference. Orbit meets with the children to discuss with them the power of a superpower called empathy. There's some great descriptions in this book and at a level that children can understand and enables them to take something away with them. The world is a harsh place these days and in my experience people are greedy and unkind these days. People seem to lack empathy in the generations around us and I think it is extremely important for the young of today to tap into empathy and compassion towards others and themselves. A great book!
The Power of Empathy is a picture book in which a character, Orbit, teaches children about feelings and the power of empathy. I like the character Orbit, the illustrations, and message. I would recommend The Power of Empathy. I received a free ARC via Net Galley and am voluntarily reviewing.
I'm really amazed with the way this was written. Showing every aspect of emotion to empathize with each other is the best part of this picture book. I tagged it under adult genre as well because now a days many of us forget to empathize with people around us. Putting self into others' shoes is what makes us more humble and understanding.
Illustrations were also worth watching while reading. Illustrator's name must also be added to the book's author column.
I vouch for this to be part of KG Curriculum.
