Description
Sgt. Coleman and Poco were a K9 team chosen for an experiment. They were tied together mentally by a mesh under their scalps. After the surgery, they could hear, see, and smell what their partner experienced.
While on patrol they were attacked. The altercation ended quickly and they were left licking their wounds. The military awarded them both with longevity injections. Still, they went back to work.
They were attacked a second time but by a much more prepared enemy. Poco was killed and the Sgt. Lost both his legs. After the trauma, Sgt. Coleman heard Poco speak to him. He tried to explain this to several people. They attributed the voice to PTSD.
Sgt. Coleman healed after receiving this new legs. However, not everyone was interested in his recovery. He managed to escape assassination with the voice of Poco guiding him. He ran towards the anonymity and safety of Slum Town.
There he met Nosey, Pea, Waterhose, Mark and a whole group of Free Folk. In the end, he knew he had to run from a mysterious cosmic enemy and also from his human ones as well.
Sgt. Coleman had become bait in a much larger battle.

SERGEANT COLEMAN AND POCO (THE MIND AMP PROJECT)
by Doyle C. Carver
Sergeant Coleman volunteered for an experimental K9 experiment, where techs would bridge his mind with his K9 partner Poco. The two became one and were quite successful in their military excursions.
Someone attacked the duo and Poco was killed, Sergeant Coleman lost his legs. He apparently didn't lose his connection to Poco, which helped him adapt to his new life with no legs.
I like the protagonist, but this story has an unspeakable evil that I couldn't get past. The book would be better for me if the evil element was toned down a bit.
